@HighEliteMajor That thread took a wild swing after a certain post that ended up in polical name calling that I'm not in the least bit proud of. Personally I wouldn't have locked it, but certainly would've moved it to the politics section and ignored the heck out of it.
@justanotherfan I like your reasoning, but I’m afraid emotions will play a bigger factor. I want him at KU and can put him there with my brain, but I don’t know what he wants in his heart.
How in the world did Louisville not win more with Donovan Mitchell on the roster? Hookers must be exhausting.
Did you see that Democrat destroy the rim on the Republican trying to hold down the paint?
The flying liberal dunked all over the fundamentally sound conservative.
The raging righty tomahawked on the limp lefty.
Just silly satire.
I disagree. I have absolutely no problem keeping politics, war, religion, or anything of significanct meaning completely seperate from my sports entertainment. Politics don’t even cross my mind until someone else brings it up during sporting events. I believe many people are the same way, it’s an escape - declining viewership numbers in the NFL support the - leave politics out of sports model.
Furthermore there is a politics section of this very site for that explicit reason. If you feel the need to politicize your sports post please do it there, where people will appreciate your efforts. Putting such posts in the general sports section irritates 1/2 the people, makes 1/4 of the people ashamed to be in the same political party, 1/4 of the people grab pitchforks to join in and it devolves from there.
@approxinfinity My buddy has a dog named Redick, not how I pronounce it though, I may add an extra d in the middle. lol More descriptive that way, besides I still don’t like JJ (gotta be the Duke affiliation).
@BShark Just the ‘stache as far as I can recall.
@wissox First win streak of the season, thanks! smh Royals...
Billy?
I’d want to see Dok too if I was an NBA exec just in case he stays in.
@wissox Doesn’t look like he’d have a job otherwise...
T minus 3 days...
Soon you will have your answer @jayballer73
Mo Bamba wishes he could’ve gone straight pro says college was a waste of time.
Shaka smh
Wish Bamba would’ve gone to a better program...Don’t make the same mistake Romeo!
@truehawk93 Maybe he wants the Tre Young experience?
@Kcmatt7 That I believe that Bill and Roy before him ran clean programs. That the cheating is out of KUs hands and should be cleaned up by enforcing the existing rules. That people that are fully ready to start their profession don't belong in college unless they are selling dope. That if you ask even the wealthiest person how much money is enough the inevitable answer is always - a little bit more.
@Kcmatt7 I take it back, you lack imagination if you can't see how it could get worse.
The product this board would put together as the NCAA is something that would drive me completely away from sports. KU basketball is the only sport I genuinely care about, but this would absolutely ruin it.
Thank God everything written here is fan fiction and no one has any power! This time of year it's just us overly bored with wild imaginations I guess.
@BeddieKU23 uconn, utep, Loyola, lasalle, San Fran. But you're correct nothing recent other than Uconn.
None shouldn't be allowed in the tournament since mid majors have no chance of winning. It waters down a tournament with crapoy upsets like VCU over KU or Chamimade beating Duke. Too many crap teams in the tournament that don't belong like KU in '88 denying the true champion a shot and us the chance to see a double elimination tournament.
And if you want to see it worsen allow openly paying players.
@mayjay How do you possibly think there could be a level playing field if players are allowed endorsement money in college? There is absolutely no way any non-blue blood could compete. It would make the gap between the haves and the have nots too great.
I.e. Any player that signs at KU would instantly have endorsement deals, but that same player at Nevraska may not get any endorsement money.
So dump tennis, women's basketball, softball, and baseball and use the money to pay the basketball players? Have Bill give back 2 of his 5 mil per year to pay the players? A 2 million per year salary cap in the ncaa. Of course there won't be 351 teams that can afford the couple million or so per season, so there will be attrition. Does it get to the point there aren't more than 100 teams in D1? What's that do to a 68 team tournament?
Does KU offer kids endorsements tired to a scholarship worth millions of dollars so no one else in the Big12 can possibly compete? Does Notre Dame with its Billions in its coffers buy the next 10 national championships? Does Quinn Snyder come back to Duke and coach the
Abest team money can buy every year?
At which point I box up my KU crap and watch the only pure sport left. Worlds strongest man competition. Gotta love cars getting rolled over for no apparent reason. Makes me want a big tire for the front yard to flip over what I'm feeling up to it.
There is plenty of room for corruption in the current model. Once the NBA drops IT'S silly OAD rule NCAA sports will be better. Kids that want/need paid can go pro in the states instead of having to go overseas. Then the bulk of the athletes who will actually benefit from a degree can have that scholarship.
@justanotherfan No doubt, but I've never once heard the possibility of Vick returning to KU in spite of him not hiring an agent. Also most articles (if they mention him) say he should return to school, but I don't get the feeling he's welcome back.
Adidas wasn’t bidding against themselves.
@BShark Maybe late shouldn’t just be defined by the calendar so much as the recruiting cycle. If almost all the known good players are signed, it’s late!
November 13th is not late at all. Lucas definitely doesn’t count.
@Kcmatt7 That was the most mad I’ve ever been at Self. Leaving Dok out there twisting in the wind was tough to watch.
Holy crap. I came here to read about KU basketball. silly me.
@Gorilla72 This is all I know http://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2014/05/02/arizona-forward-zach-peters-ends-basketball-career-due-to-medical-issues/ ↗
I thought maybe he played somewhere else later, but I don’t see anything to support that.
I seem to remember the guards being harassed beyond the 3pt line as the main source of losses last season. (I.e. ASU, Washington, and Texas Tech.)
If Dok were more mobile he definely wouldn’t be back next year and we’d have nothing to debate, but one heck of a player’s loss to lament.
@BShark Yes, Peters was signed early. I just couldn’t remember if it was him or Lucas that signed that year. (Wasn’t Lucas late ?) If it was Landon I recant my junk big statement, even if others wouldn’t. Lol
Wiggins and Selby signed real late too. But so did the stache'. Kevin Young was picked up late in the recruiting cycle. Was Wesley a late addition as well?
Was the other junk big that couldn't play the Braedon Anderson year Peters? Or was it a desperation signinging too?
@BeddieKU23 Far better than any solutions I’ve read elsewhere. Hope they implement the harsher punishments and clean up the OAD junk. This should allow the college game to continue to be great. Another version of the NBA is just another league I wouldn’t watch.
I wonder if there is any possibility of Vick returning? Is he welcome back?
Holy smokes! A record 236 underclassmen declare for the draft. 181 US college students and 55 international players. This doesn’t include senior hopefulls like Svi and Devonte’. Only 60 spots...
@BeddieKU23 In your opinion who are the under-rated teams? Gonzaga and? If 21 of the top 25 are over-rated who do you think are the sleepers?
I have a solution. If you accept an NCAA contract it’s good for four years. Each year you back out early is a finger off of your non-shooting hand. OAD bye-bye 3 fingers. He’s tough as nails, but I’m betting we’d have seen senior Paul Pierce under this mob model. Lol
@Statmachine Replacement players are waiting in the wings. The NCAA is old, athletes are only effective while young. Who can wait longer? A rich organization or athletes that are yet to be paid?
I’m afraid our Crimson and Blue tinted glasses are skewing the conversation. Yes most of the KU players can and eventually will get paid for play/ their likeness. However if that is allowed how does St. Mary’s School for the Blind compete? They obviously can’t offer the same exposure/compensation. As it is KU has a huge recruiting advantage because of the national exposure and expectations, but give the players pay for that exposure as well? Completely unfair. i.e. Marcus Garrett KU basketball player signs a $200K deal to exclusively advertise for Hill Billy Juice drinks, would he command the same money if he played for St. Mary’s School for the blind? He’s the same player.
KU football is bad now. Imagine if OU could openly pay players. They have 4 deep guys better than KU starters already. But it’s the same deal - be the 3 deep guy getting paid on OU’s bench or play for free for KU? It widens an already huge gap and competitiveness across the board will be hurt.
If you want paid forgo amature status and go pro- get paid, but lose the exposure and following that even a year in college will give you. I don’t watch much NBA, but I do follow all the old KU guys in the league. And as @KCmatt7 has pointed out some of these guys are picking up 100’s of thousands of followers due to their college exposure. Those 100’s of thousands of followers can be immediately turned into leverage when forming an advertising deal down the road as a pro.
@Kcmatt7 There is no hope.
Would I trade one World Series win for mediorcrity? No. Let’s up the ante’ HEM style. Would I trade one World Series win for 14 division titles...? As as casual fan I’d say no. If I watched nearly every game as my brother in-law does I might say yes. But the agony of being close yet so far may be worse than being horrible.
@Kcmatt7 .500 ball isn't any fun for me to watch either. On The bright side Royals tickets are super cheap again. My Royals fandom is pretty shallow though. I watched all of a dozen games in the 2 ws appearance years. I've watched another dozen games since the strike. I used to watch 20-30 Royals games and 50-60 Braves a year before the strike. Now no Braves and very little Royals. The strike taught me how little I need baseball as a source of entertainment.
Ehh that would be tons better than what they currently have, but not a contender.
I've watched the Royals train up and send off talent for decades. I'm just glad they figured out how to hold on to some of it long enough to win a World Series. Now it's back to normal for a few years. I hope to see the post season again in a decade or two.
Now offered?
@drgnslayr forgot to pay off the fbi.
@drgnslayr Kinda like a victim of domestic violence that keeps going back.
@nuleafjhawk You must not be a weather man.

@Kcmatt7 do you think Self knows?
That he is Best friends with Dickweed Dan? Doubt it.
@wissox Joel said Winslow stepped on the goggles and tried to beak the mask with his hands. Then Joel laughed at him and said he has 50 of the masks.
ESPN article link to this in the Embiid thread if you’d like to give it a look.
LeBron is amazing, too bad he plays with a bunch of scrubs. Maybe his next team will be better.
@BShark I thought the Morri were ranked 35 to 45
