@drgnslayr I can't bring myself to by basketball shoes anymore. They're too outlandish and pricey.

@jaybate-1.0 How much does that come out to for each student athlete that is clothed with that money? Seems like way to much, but government waste is nothing new.

I'd take the spoken leadership over a trey gun, but I'm glad I don't have to choose. Miles couldn't shoot, but could lead. Mario was a vocal leader that never doubted his own shot. hmm on second thought I'll take both like Mario and Sherron and Frank.

@wrwlumpy I hope you're right about the leader standing out front. As long as Mason leads this team correctly they will go far. It's up to him where this team goes, he has the keys.

@jaybate-1.0 Who's buying cheapo $100 shoes? In case you missed it Jamari is wearing ADIDAS flip flops so there's another couple hundred pairs shoes for you @jaybate-1.0 . No one needs foot fungus. Didn't the Nebraska contract that you are referencing allow for a portion of that money to go to apparel also? That's the way I remember it.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Let's see 3-4 hours of travel and not drinking on the beach...pass. I would have a better chance of watching the game on a tv on the beach than in my home in sw Kansas though.

If that's how you like to spend your vacation time more power to you! I prefer to take in the local attractions and not watch tv or surf the web while vacationing. I travel to Lawrence to watch KU, that is the local attraction!

@Texas-Hawk-10 True, but maybe the roster would have more than 5 D1 calibre players. At least a full allotment of scholarship players would be nice.

Looks like beautiful and fun, but the Caribbean is closer, with warmer water, and is less expensive all around. Maybe we can schedule a trip for Coleby?

Every time I've been to an exotic local that also hosts sporting events I've wondered why anyone would travel to paradise to watch a basketball game in a crappy arena? You're missing out on paradise to watch basketball. You could've spent less money and gone to watch our most favorite team on the face of the earth play in the best basketball court in the world! And scheduled a vacation around the games.

I'd love to go to the Louvre, and I love KU basketball, but I don't want to see KU play basketball in the Louvre.

Hey @jaybate-1.0 Cal is known for upsets. Every year, but '12 ended with his team in an upset. The best was Robert Morris.

Gill had to go. He lost control of the team. Weis was a pile of crap, but he gave us Beaty. Wish the A.D. Mr. KSU would've signed Gus Malzahn insead of Wies, but go Beaty!!!

@drgnslayr No Ak-47 school shootings until a couple of decades ago. Some things are definately worse. Some are better.

@Crimsonorblue22 It's our second. We have a 5 year old boy also. And yes he sports KU gear to school about once a week.

If KU basketball is still shown on tv in SW Kansas when he's old enough to remember, that's all he'll know. If there's only a few games a year shown...

If KU wins a game and no one can watch did it really happen?

If I could sit down with Zenger and let him realize that his terrible tv contract has made me (and you too I'm sure) miss more games last year than I've missed the previous decade. It sounds like this year will be worse, maybe I should say screw KU like the locals and become a fan of a team I can watch on tv.

I wonder if Mr. Zenger realizes that it's a 6 1/2 hour drive from SW Kansas to Allen Fieldhouse, so we can't just show up for every game. Actually I bet he does know, because if he were closer (or cared) he wouldn't screw us over so. Oh wait, he's a Wildcat and knows exactly what he's doing.

What will the student athletes sell back to the unvierstiy store if you take away the 3 million dollar shoe budget? It's a great way give your players a raise. Pick up free shoes and sell them. I've seen players return free clothes for money back...

We all got robbed by Embiids injury. He should be a national treasure. His moves on the court should inspire future generations as Hakeem did. Luckily for him he was able to cash in.

I feel sorry for Embiid losing his brother; I wish Joel could play basketball, but it's not the end of the world. As far as bedding hot women, you don't need basketball skills, money, or even male parts to do that...

ESPN ranked the top 25 college players. Baker and VanVleet are both top 10.

Only Perry Ellis checked in at 15, no other KU player made the list.

Motivation?

Problem is the "big" star Adidas signed is a flop artist in Houston. Durant in OKC is the only player not on a coastal team that would have the kind of influence we all want; (Rose is always hurt) the change of a HS kids lean to Adidas from Nike.

That's a lot of money to give a serial flopper. A free throw artist; he makes it an art to get to the line.

@jaybate-1.0 I agree I wouldn't want another coach at KU. I feel Bill is the man. That being said, didn't Izzo make the final four last season with an inferior team to KU? I'd hate to cut the short man shorter.

What's everyone think of the Cueto trade? Looks like one heck of a pitcher, but I wish he had 2-3 years on his contract. Stinks to give up Finnegan, but Cueto should be really good for as long as he sticks around.

I can't find the article, but Cliff seemed genuinely hurt that his words were used against him. He talked to Self afterwards and said (I'm paraphrasing), " Those were your words Coach. You said I was dealt a bad hand." Self agreed and went on to tell all the NBA execs that would listen that Cliff was the best player in practice from that point (suspension) forward (playing with a free mind and nothing to lose).

Before I read that particular article I was PO'ed at Cliff. Afterward I kinda feel sorry for him as we as compasionate human beings and loyal Jayhawk fans should. I'm mildly ashamed at my previous attitude when it's put into the light of a 20 year old kids perspective and the media's penchant to twist and take words out of context is also taken into account.

Wish that could happen. JoJo has had a tough time at it. Unfortunately the monster that is the NCAA would squash our little progam for such defiance.

@Statmachine That's where I'd like to see Svi as the backup to Graham at the 2. Selden starting at the three backed up by Greene. Mason backed up by Graham at the 1. Down low I hope Diallo is starting soon alongside Ellis.

Devone has the size that Nic will never have. Will Devonte demostate the leadership qualities of Nic? KU Needs the deadly tandem of disruption on the perimiter (think RussRob and Chalmers feeding off of one anther). I'd love to see the perimeter defense ratchet up this season and Devonte is the key.

Hopefully the guys will get rested up then work on their game. I think the WUG have shown a few players areas they could work on and gave others confidence to excell.

As the NBA TV contracts go up so does the payroll. The owners must pay out 58% of the revenue to the players. Who'd of thought that a capped sport would have payrolls surpass baseball (no salary cap)?

Seems overly complicated, but whatever allows the most corruption seems to be the way to go in international sports. (i.e. FIBA)

It also looks like China has been terrible, historically speaking.

I had my nose broken by an idiot Nebraska fan after they beat KU in football. He still had to prove his manhood by hitting a person who was looking away when he started his swing. I straightened out my nose myself as soon as it happened as it was layed over. (He ran away, wuss) Yeah, all Nebraska fans are the best, or so I've been told.

I had a couple of teeth go through my upper eye-lid during a lay-up drill. Stuff happens when you play basketball. If you think you can prevent all accidents then we had better change the name to avoidables. Or something that doesn't imply sh!t happens.

@RockChalkinTexas Did you watch the same video for Wiggins that pops up at the end? He does the same drills as Oubre, just as hard, but doesn't break much of a sweat. The man is a machine!

@Crimsonorblue22 Dropped cable a month ago. I won't miss it until KU BBall starts up (for real). I'll have to slip down to the bar to watch the WUG, if I'm not working.

@jayballer54 I thought I read that some games were to be on ESPN2 somewhere earlier, but this is what I've found lately. Unfortunately I don't have ESPNU currently.
