2024 Recruiting • Jul 31, 2023 07:29 PM

@TYOHawk We shall see which of the Johns wastes more talent. My money is on Cal over Scheyer, but time will tell.

NFL Draft - 2023 • Jul 31, 2023 04:27 PM

I’m never going to fault a guy for trying to maximize his short earning potential in the NFL. As a fan I wish Jones had held out earlier so there were more options though.

Puerto Rico! • Jul 31, 2023 12:28 PM

One of the teams in PR looks really tuff if I read that correctly- Deandre Ayton, Buddy Hield, Eric Gordon, Klay Thompson, Kai Jones, Remy Martin.

NFL Draft - 2023 • Jul 30, 2023 10:09 PM

@Kcmatt7 Chris Jones franchise tag number for 2024 is 120% of his cap hit this year less a handful of incentives, since that is more than the average of the 5 highest paid at the position. I believe it would be 32-34 million. He’s within his right to ask for 30 million. The Chiefs need to be fiscally responsible, it’s a tough call. If they can get the right picks for him, he might have to go. Not this season though, it’s too late after the draft. Not being able to get a capable replacement would waste a year of Mahomes prime.

Etymology: Dog Days of Summer • Jul 30, 2023 12:30 PM

I have an extended forecast - July and August will be hot. December January will be cold. This will happen every year, yet radio and tv personalities will act like this is the first time it’s ever been over 100 or below zero.

The Big 12 conference • Jul 30, 2023 12:27 PM

@wissox I like limited doses of Bill Walton. I enjoy him more on replays than live action. My favorites are no longer around - Max Falkenstein was just so stinking good at his job that I thought no one could hold a candle to him. But then Bob came along and did a fantastic job. I’m still waiting on the next great KU announcer.

@kjayhawks Bought a new drier and while installing it I left a handprint dent in the top - it looks like Superman grabbed it. Thin junk with electronics that started failing after less than a year. I’m getting a speed queen next time.

And then we have these discussions • Jul 27, 2023 04:45 AM

@wissox They really should for non-revenue producing sports. Regional conferences help keep travel expenses down.

@mayjay Both of those are death traps. Glad they don’t build them like that anymore, even through I own a ‘65 F250. I like that a non-mechanic like me can work on it. Rebuild the carburetor? No problem. Even changing the brake pads on my 2020 Silverado requires a computer to reset the warnings that the brakes have been tampered with and speed is limited to 40mph. 90k miles and it’s falling apart due to inferior component life, but I’m not nostalgic for a hard to start carbonated vehicle that will kill you in a fairly minor accident. But yeah they don’t build them like that for a reason - partially safety, partially cost saving, a lot of emissions junk, way lighter metal, components are built to fail now. They were built to last forever - example A Cuba. 😂

Better - football, ncaa basketball, international basketball.

Worse - baseball, nba.

Who cares? - hockey, soccer.

Not going to touch - real life stuff.

What was the name of the lineman that got stuck in the Taco Bell drive through window (around 2000)? That place had terrible service, wish he could’ve made it through 😂

Football players doing dumb stuff? Never! It was hot. Guess he didn’t want to practice.

2024 Recruiting • Jul 24, 2023 09:55 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I would not put much stock into anything Marcus Adams says.

Mario Chalmers, “There was one play where I threw a lob to Shady on an inbounds pass and he dunked over Scottie Reynolds. Right before I threw it I looked at Jay Wright and said, “Watch this!””

I’m fond of this one

Welcome, Marcus Adams Jr.! • Jul 19, 2023 06:59 PM

@TYOHawk Often the news articles are full of misinformation and incomplete information too, as such they should be taken with a grain of salt. These are direct quotes. 😳

I am appalled that fans are harassing his family. Get a life. So he didn’t love Lawrence, good riddance!

Welcome, Marcus Adams Jr.! • Jul 19, 2023 04:24 PM

“Marcus has a lot of heart and fire,” DeSanti said. “Him coming back from injury, they never really got to see what Marcus can do. I don’t know if he’s going to go somewhere that plays KU, but he feels like (he never) got the right chance to show it.”

Yeah transferring before the first game shows all kinds of heart and fire. Never had a chance to prove himself? How about staying??? Lol glad to have the scholly back! Didn’t like Lawrence - too country for him. 😂 😂 😂

Kenny Gregory jumped over me and threw down a 2 handed jam in Robinson. That’s my fav. 😝

2023 Season Predictions • Jul 16, 2023 01:52 PM

I hope KU football continues to improve, but 6-7 with a bowl game loss is the definition of mediocre. 1-7 down the stretch is less than mediocre. I do believe Lance can make this team competitive, but I don’t know that the current talent is enough. I wish Jalon Daniels had 4 years left lol I think he will be a big part of the turnaround. Finding that next QB will be huge - it’s been nearly 15 years between decent QBs for KU.

Huggins Retires • Jul 15, 2023 01:48 PM

I feel like the title needs edited to “Huggins retires…”

2023 Season Predictions • Jul 15, 2023 01:40 PM

@approxinfinity Are you being sarcastic?

I’m hopeful they are in the right track with a good QB and coach, but they need to prove last years rise to mediocrity wasn’t a fluke.

And then we have these discussions • Jul 15, 2023 01:38 PM

KCStar -✌️ Longhorn fans aren’t too happy with the Big 12 after its deputy commissioner said that Texas left the conference because “they would rather get beat by Alabama than Kansas State.” 😂

@FarmerJayhawk That is the true issue - Basketball revenue is majorly hamstrung. But it has the most awesome tournament in all of sports.

2024 Recruiting • Jul 10, 2023 10:09 PM

How about Flagg or is that ‘25?

Sanders and the Buffaloes • Jul 09, 2023 02:07 PM

@Kcmatt7 damn turf toe. (Flashback humor - too soon?)

2023 Season Predictions • Jul 07, 2023 01:02 PM

Peering at the schedule it looks like 3-5 wins. I love the optimism, but it’s KU football and the talent gap is still real. Thank goodness for JD or it would be another 1-3 win season. Lance has his work cut out for him.

2023 Season Predictions • Jul 06, 2023 12:56 PM

I’d bet the basketball team loses less games.

4th of July • Jul 06, 2023 03:25 AM

I love this country!!! Not because it’s perfect, but because we have the power to influence it and fix the imperfections. If you’re just complaining while not actually trying to impact the situation in a hands on way, you’re part of the problem you’ve identified. But that’s well within your constitutionally protected rights in this country! So have at it.

2023 Transfer Portal • Jun 30, 2023 12:21 PM

@rockchalkjayhawk as it currently stands it would be hard to give more than a verbal commitment. Why get locked in and limit yourself?

Best KU game you've been to. • Jun 28, 2023 03:09 PM

One of the more memorable games I was at was the Acie Law IV game. Ugg. Wish I could forget.

Best KU game you've been to. • Jun 27, 2023 07:00 PM

@focojayhawk Jacque is still my fav. That spin move and (different game) the one where he drove the lane wrapped around for a pass, palmed the ball and pulled it out for a layup are a couple of my all time favorite regular season plays.

2023 Transfer Portal • Jun 27, 2023 06:42 PM

@Jethro gotta love ‘em. Who else could we get to serve us McDonalds?

Best KU game you've been to. • Jun 27, 2023 06:05 PM

The KSU fight game is probably the second most memorable game I was at. The best memory I have is when Wilt came back to get his jersey retired. Every game is awesome and almost all are Ws. It’s hard to pick.

2024 and basking in the glory that is Self • Jun 24, 2023 01:38 PM

https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/37905297/2024-nba-mock-draft-top-prospects-next-year ↗

Pretty much all of Kentucky and Dukes players are predicted to get drafted. Many are freshmen that haven’t dribbled a ball in college yet. Zero Kansas players on the list of pro prospects, yet someone will end up playing professional ball due to development in college. I’d wager KU will have a better season than both those teams in spite of the lack of day one nba talent.

So Gradey and so funny!

Dick stroking that bejeweled pussy is something…

Wembanyama Career Projections • Jun 20, 2023 04:24 AM

I would trade everything for that pick. Generational talent (or bust) coming up!

Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022 • Jun 20, 2023 04:13 AM

@wissox said in Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022:

@dylans Obviously it's an unprovable argument. 86 team beat the national champs twice! 97 team lost to the national champs! I know 97 was awesome and I surely would lose this argument a lot of times, but I also might win it a number of times too.

Funny thing is the 08 team, while super tough and resilient, paled slightly compared to the others mentioned. I don't think the 22 version was the best of the best KU teams either! But they both won praise the lord and are legendary teams.

IMHO The ‘08 team would wipe the court with any other team Bill has trotted out. That defense was flat nasty. They took offense when the other team scored and might just go off on a 20-0 run purely out of spite.

96-97 was loaded in the post and Paul on the wing. Love me some Vaughn. Wow woulda coulda shoulda gone undefeated.

‘86 was before my time. Started watching in ‘90

Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022 • Jun 19, 2023 12:42 PM

@wissox Better than ‘97? I would like to see the ‘97 team play the ‘08 team. Would be a battle!

And then we have these discussions • Jun 18, 2023 01:34 PM

@mayjay California is the reason pork producers are going broke nationwide as well. Just prefer to keep them as far away as possible due to the poorly thought out nature of their legislation and its national ramifications well beyond non-important things like sports. But a sports embargo on those morons is a-okay with me.

Huggins Retires • Jun 17, 2023 01:59 PM

Is this Huggins retirement tour? A little different route than Coach K took, but man what a lap!

And then we have these discussions • Jun 17, 2023 01:32 PM

Is Yormark considering SDSU? Would be on par with Cincinnati and the rando Florida school that were just added. Personally I’d stay away from any California schools due to their state policies having national ramifications and I wouldn’t want to invite that vampire in - easy to get a vampire in the door, much harder to get it out.

NFL Draft - 2023 • Jun 14, 2023 01:59 AM

Cullen is a very good D-line coach. He’ll get the most out of the group. We shall see.

NFL Draft - 2023 • Jun 13, 2023 06:54 PM

@rockchalkjayhawk Not up to speed on his off the field baggage. Great just got rid of Clark and replaced him with a less productive version of the same guy.

2024 recruits • Jun 13, 2023 04:58 PM

@wissox I know no Sam Hill, it’s Mt oread 😂

NFL Draft - 2023 • Jun 13, 2023 04:56 PM

Clark was only good in the playoffs, but when you’re there every year that’s kinda important. Hope they can replace his post season production with in house talent. That guy from San Fran is intriguing

2023 Transfer Portal • Jun 13, 2023 04:54 PM

@Kcmatt7 I’m pretty sure he’ll be coaching for another century. he’s a vampire.

Russell Robinson • Jun 12, 2023 12:46 PM

RussRob has stated that one of his goals is to get back to Lawrence on the coaching staff. Always liked Russ, he sacrificed for the greater good of the team - was known as a scorer in HS.

Henry T’s • Jun 07, 2023 11:22 PM

Gonna be real honest. I preferred the sand bar. Henry T’s was boring. The bar scene in Lawrence is a bit … young for me.

PGA/LIV golf ... something • Jun 07, 2023 06:09 PM

LIV forced them to up wages. I don’t see the harm in competition. I don’t like the source of the money, nor was I a proponent of LIV golf, but that’s a different discussion altogether.

Henry T’s • Jun 07, 2023 12:18 PM

Just saw that Henry T’s is closing. Might get a new location though. Wonder where they will do Hawk Talk?

Jayhawks in the NBA -- 2022 • Jun 05, 2023 01:08 AM

That word you keep saying. I do not think it means what you think it means.
