Why wonāt the bigs reset the offense? Black hole down low.
š¤
Alex Okafor just signed with the Chiefs. Replacing some of the edge pressure. Hopefully he can be more productive than he has been getting sacks, but he seems well rounded.
Lol If this holds up maybe it should read, can KU beat all of Big12 Texas?

Received this last night. š
@HighEliteMajor Heās always had that wide stance. I think itās where a lot of the (fun) Jordan comparisons come from.
I canāt tell if heās currently dinged up or a little less confident. Either way I hope for big things to come.
On the other hand Ochai is trending downward. Hope thatās not due to getting exposed in games.
@Kcmatt7 I had hoped Fuller would just cover the slot (his most effective position), so they need to hit on another CB in the draft. IMHO of course. Lol
@Kcmatt7 Iām hoping they can execute their plan, because right now the defense has a ton of holes.
@Kcmatt7 2 second round picks too, in a draft deep on the defensive side. Iām hoping they pick up some ground.
@Kcmatt7 Great back end coverage makes average DEās look good. More time to work is huge.
@Kcmatt7 The secondary last year killed me. Too bad none of the Berry cap savings is realized until June 2. Canāt play with that money yet, so itās probably part of the Jones/Hill or even Mahomes future cap space planning.
Darby would be a huge upgrade, but more work needs to be done. Probably in the draft.
@nuleafjhawk Yeah, but itās the $$$ tied up in contracts. Houston had the richest contract signed by a defensive player at the time and failed to produce up to that level. Same for Berry and the safety market. The contracts and unwillingness to negotiate them are why they had to go.
Sammy Watkins will probably get the ax after next season based on his contract structure. Likely a needed move to make way for Mahones huge deal.
A bad fit and a couple well paid unhealthy guys cut - I understand, but now Iām as curious as a kid before Christmas. But I donāt know when Christmas Day will be.
Also not thrilled about the Spagnuolo hiring. One good year, otherwise the 19th ranked D on average. The 19th ranked D would probably win a SB with that offense, but 8-12 would make me feel a lot better. Lol
@Kcmatt7 Right, but what moves? Thatās what Iām confused about. I donāt see upgrades on the market currently. Maybe a trade? Also the Berry contract was a turd - lots of dead money for a couple of years yet. They must think heās done to eat so much $$$
Ok. Iām getting more confused as to what the goal is by the minute. Berry was cut. Houston released. Dee Ford was traded with no immediate return. Mathieu is a nice signing, but thatās really it other than depth so far. š¤
The time is now to capitalize on Mahones cheap contract window, so wtf?!?
I heard someone say ,āDonāt get in a bidding war with Veach on ebay.ā
Texans wanted him too evidently.
Gonzaga would raise the profile of PAC 12 basketball. And the PAC12 already has plenty football teams. They wouldnāt be a terrible fit in the Big12 either. You could maintain the round robin in both sports if you so desired. Two more quality conference basketball games against Gonzaga is a great trade off for two crap non-con games.
@Kcmatt7 Darby? Would be nice. I canāt think of another very good CB on the market. (Hope Iām missing it)
The safeties on the market rate higher than the other CBs left (I think). Depending on the amount you can spend, Earl Thomas or HaHa Clinton Dix might be nice, but that would swing Mathieu into the CB spot.
@Woodrow hmm, I wonder what theyāll do with that cap space? Probably extend Hill.
Anyone know what the Chiefs got from the 49ers for Dee Ford?
Stormās a brewing...
No all world academics Duke yet? š¤
@nuleafjhawk Iād love the pre-big contract healthy version of Justin Houston.
So the Chiefs D appears to be getting better with a new coordinator and the recent signing of the Honey Badger.
Chiefs fans, what other moves would you like to see? One I am 90% sure wonāt happen is trading Dee Ford to clear cap space to sign Earl Thomas pairing him with Berry and moving Mathieu to CB and Fuller to slot CB. Salty, but unlikely.
Youād have to shore up the line and linebackers thru that trade and draft.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Yes. Heās a good/great player. His per is 28+. I too donāt see him as able to carry the load by himself though. This my mild disdain for his game.

@Hawk8086 I think a lot of it with Dedric is that heās just such a boring player to watch. He canāt jump. Heās a subpar athlete (relatively speaking). He does nothing spectacular that you remember. He barely runs sometimes. But he just chops wood. He has an incredible knack/skilll for finding his way to the best spot to get a rebound. Very skilled footwork wise with the ball. Soft touch near the hoop.
Iāve never seen a player like him. He puts up numbers but many times I can barely remember much of what he did.
Not going to be a popular take, but I donāt like his game at all. You canāt rely on him on offense. Heās just a junk man. Bill designed the offense to go into Dok because he can seal his man off and dominate the lane. If you pass to Dedrick with his back to the basket look for an inefficient shot as he gets outmuscled by even a guard.
I am impressed with his length and ability to read and react to a rebound. Heās a little like Rodman in always being in the right spot, but he lacks that motor.
If all Lawson had to do was compliment Dok or McCormack heād be awesome, but you canāt design your offense around him in the post, heās by far best in space.
I honestly feel like KU will be better with a more traditional post that you can pound the ball in to. Iām hopeful McCormack will break out next season and is that guy.
Maybe Iām looking at this wrong, but Dedrick shoots 49% on 14 shots per game averaging 19 points per contest. Dok at 75% with 0% free throws on 14 shots averages 21 points per game.
Dok has his severe limitations too, but I prefer a big man that can post up to a finesse player who canāt.
Product isnāt going to be as good the next couple years. One quote by Bill always stood out to me as being a bit odd. When asked about the streak a couple years ago Self said something along the lines of āWeāve always had the players.ā Not the players fought for it, or the players developed, just that KU out talented the league. How do you do that every year? Just seemed fishy to me. I always hoped things would get cleaned up, but I never suspected KU would be in the center of the mess! (Rightfully or not thatās where we are)
@Texas-Hawk-10 Yes, thatās exactly why I said āat bestā and āItās not...an issuesā
Kinda figured that was the approach to not seem like such a downer.
@BeddieKU23 Iāve never been able to figure out the decision making process of a teenager, they do all kinds of stupid stuff. Ayton was a 100% KU lean, but then we learn he was given more money by Arizona (apparently 15k by Adidias isnāt enough when 100k is on the table). The checkbook is closed - I wouldnāt look for any 5 star recruits to sign. Add in the chance of a post season ban and loss of scholarships due to being caught by the FBI and I wouldnāt let my kid go to KU until I knew he could play in the NCAA tournament (esp if heās a OAD).
So meh. IF KU signs a big time player thatās unexpected news, not potientally losing a recruit that hasnāt committed to anyone yet.
@Kcmatt7 Iām with you on that besides Kansas football coaches only last 5-10 years at best anyway. Itās not as much of an issue as some try to make it.
@kjayhawks If that ā05 team hadnāt been so butt hurt about Roy leaving and wouldāve bought in early, it couldāve been a championship year. Shouldāve been a final four year.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda...didnāt.
Ehh the only recruits we have are Braun and McBride. The rest arenāt ours yet. KU casts a very wide recruiting net, so you will see more misses than hits just by numbers. Donāt fret until commited guys start jumping ship.
Lol. The ESPN radio guy just said he loves the reasons Zion is playing college basketball. Says heās doing it for the love of the game, heās doing it for free (he adds a disclaimer āI thinkā) after which the crew references LSU and all start laughing at the idea of a free player. š¤¦āāļø
Luckily we only lost Svi once. But you can add Dok and Newman to that list...and Vick.
Legit question, why is Purdue ranked so high? Same record as KU (going into last week) and their only high quality win is against Michigan State (Iowa, Maryland, and Indiana are decent wins, I guess).

Northern Iowa v. Bradley...hmmm, who to root for or against there.
Iām torn between the refs or a fire... š¤
@Hawk8086 RJ Hamilton and also
Cottrell (a couple recruits) I do believe.

@Crimsonorblue22 Have fun! Cheer your butt off!!!
@Crimsonorblue22 doesnāt seem too controversial
When the 30ft shots are falling tre is very good. Unfortunately for him shots donāt fall every night, but his horrible defense gives up easy shots every night.
@BShark missed it. Page is already gone.
Vick was bad for the team chemistry. If Iām not mistaken he flat out said I quit during his last game. Self has covered for him, but I donāt feel like he is lying anymore than any other social curtesy. I donāt consider it a lie when I tell someone they look good when they donāt because they need a lift. I donāt consider it a lie when Bill plays Grimes thru all his crappy play and tries to build him up with positive reinforcement instead of tearing him down to start back over as he normally does.
Itās really an argument over semantics. I think your cologne stinks good. I think you smell nice. Says the same thing, one has a negative connotation. Saying Bill lied implies he did something wrong (maybe even kicked Vick off the team). Saying Bill covered for Vick implies he cares and Vick left in decent standing.
Made up scenario: if I went on a KSU site and starting saying that Webber lied and that Wade was healthy and he constantly throws players under the bus, I donāt think I would be too popular. But if I said that Weber was gaming the future opponent by saying Wade was hurt against KU is it still a lie? Does it still piss off the fan base? Is there ever a reason for a lie?
By the way I like your shirt. Itās nice to meet you. I enjoyed this conversation....social platitudes are not only nice, but necessary. It takes an extreme amount of energy to be nice and polite thatās why I appreciate those who put forth the effort and have not much use for the lazy jerks.
Well I thought he would be good, but heās been ridiculous. I get the hype now.
