I would like to stay away from saying that just yet because transferring again would just seem redicilous for him, he could have just sat this semester and still had 3 to play 3. We will certainly see how he responds to his coaches words and the toughening of not playing right now. I always thought his best ball would be after this year. However I did think he'd play every game so I'm perplexed at our starters playing so many minutes still

I would have a tendency to agree, I just can't bring myself to see Sam transfer again - -and then sit ANOTHER year -just wouldn't make a lot of sense - I mean he could - -and I have thought actually that IF anyone did I would probably be him BUT having said that - - I just don't see it. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@Jayballer54 KK brought up something yesterday on the radio. When the opponent reaches the 1 and 1 in fouls in the first half why wouldn't opposing coaches foul Doke the next 3 times down the floor until they reach the double bonus? It would seem to be a great way to get a stop, especially if KU is on a roll and has the momentum. Doke is unlikely to make more than 1 or 2.

The point being that this might not only be an end game strategy for the rest of the season.

Even less likely to make the first too. I can't remember more then 5-6 times he's made the first all year

Wait, - -he made his 1st attempt of the night against Oklahoma - -nothing but net - pure swish- -didn't make another one the rest of the game. - - - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I've been a big fan of Vick since we signed him. He's in a major slump and negatively impacting this team's potential right now. The hope is the talks Self mentioned this week start to change things around for him like they did Newman. We absolutely have no chance of a great season if his play continues to be this poor.

I think Romeo's decision is more then just Vick. I believe its Vick and Newman. This is how I see it and I'll get to that later. If he's truly down to KU, Vandy, IU then on paper KU would be a no brainer. I think KU sits 3rd for Romeo despite what might be out there to the contrary.

IU is the home school and Archie Miller is a good coach trying to turn around a storied program. His team sucks currently but IU is a year away from turning it around once Miller has "his players". He's got 4 Top 100ish types signed on for next season and a few leftover pieces should give them a chance to be much better next season. Langford can step into IU and get up 10-15 shots a game because there's nobody on the roster as good as him. That's the "business decision" part of things. He gets to showcase himself on what should be a decent Big-10 team next season and keeps his possible lottery pick status doing so.

Vanderbilt is the school I actually think is favored to get him today. Having Garland and Shittu already in the fold makes it very attractive for him to go play with those guys. Vandy has nothing standing in his way as far as PT goes, he gets as many shots as he wants being a SG at Vandy instead of a wing at KU. Vandy has a Notre Dame SF transfer and a Top 100 SF signed as well so I can see Vandy selling him on the other guard spot next to Garland because he'll be a 2 guard in the NBA. If Romeo is serious about Vandy as I think he is they will have to cut someone to make room for him as they are full.

Last we have KU. I know we've discussed the importance of Vick's year end decision but I believe Newman's decision plays just as big a part here. If both leave Langford has a clear shot at a big role at KU next season and I would bet he comes here in that situation. If one returns its likely he's going to see a crowded perimeter.

As we get closer to the spring it will be interesting to see what his comments are about a commitment timeline. If he's waiting until late April/May (that looks good for KU). If he signs earlier I assume he isn't convinced guys are leaving. Romeo doesn't talk much so this will be interesting to get any good intel. As good as Romeo is I do wonder how his recruitment became 2 struggling programs and KU. Calipari turned the other way rather early, Duke bailed as well. I do have concerns about Romeo's character but I'm hopeful those are not anything that actually means anything when its all said and done. He's a fantastic talent that is needed but Top 5 talents usually have more schools kicking the tires for his attention. Just my 2 cents

Good points. - The ONLY thing I could possibly say in rebuttal about this is like I've talked with others and they have brought up and agreed - -makes sense IS. - -IF Romeo wanted and he wasn't waiting to see what Vick does , then why didn't he go ahead and commit early to Vandy OR Indiana because of the things you mentioned - as far as immediate - showcase playing time? - -Like you said he could step right in.

The people I've discussed with all say is he is waiting to see what Vick does , I head he had soured on Indiana because Indiana wanted Garland and missed and Romeo wanted to be surrounded by other really good players. - -there would be no reason for him to wait could of signed in the early period if he wasn't waiting to see what happened at KU - which tells me we are in very good shape to land him. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Yeah the roster should work itself out at season's end. Even if everyone wanted to return I'm not sure that's what would happen if the staff had Romeo's commitment on the line. These things always work themselves out. Romeo starts here if he comes. I think its more about who leaves that's possibly in his way

I agree totally. - I just don't see anyway that Romeo doesn't start from day one if he were to commit. - Like you said though - I think bottom line , it all hinges on Vick.

It's hard for me cause I waver back and forth with this , I know what Vick is capable of - - we have all seen it , when he is on , aggressive love it. - -When he plays that way as hard as it is to say , I think it would be hard not to chose him because of game experience and Senior leadership. But then again if he were to keep playing like that , really good chance he would declare for the NBA anyways.

Then on the other hand if he were to continue with the type of play we have seen recently? - -I would just as soon see him go and we take Romeo ,BUT if Vick were to finish the season like he is playing now , chances are he would be coming back - -so it's kind of a damn if you do - -damn if you don't.

Yet if Vick gets it turned back around and Continues to play well BUT yet still wants to come back for his Senior year? - I'd have to refer back to the above statement - It would be really hard not to have him back because of Senior leadership

If only the seniors leave we have 10 returning scholarship players. We have 3 incoming freshman. All of the scholarships are used. However from a scholarship standpoint no one has to leave.

So if only Graham & SVI left ? - - so Doke and Vick would still be able to have their Scholi without it taking extra away? - -bottom line they could return without it making an over load and we still would have the spots for our 3 incoming freshmen and possibly Langford?

If Langford wants to join someone has to leave. We probably won't have that issue I think.

Someone would have to leave other then SVI or Graham right? - -so like Newman - -Doke - - or Vick would have to leave for there to be a room for Langford - not looking at position - -just so there would be a scholi available right?

I stand here before you, hat in hand, saying that Mitch Lightfoot should have been playing over Udoka Azubuike after the first foul at the appx. 3:40 mark. This is a grand admission. It's truly "red pill" stuff. An admission and acknowledgment of the real truth. I am actually saying that Mitch should have played over Udoka. Amazing to me.

A big point, too, aside from the fouling issue, was that OU was not the type of team that had post players that would overwhelm Mitch. The fact is, Mitch played great last night. Mitch has played well even when a matchup isn't favorable, so I don't want to minimize the praise of his performance implying the match-up as the sole cause.

Your right exactly right. - -We were actually I a really good spot in the game before this - up I think 6 late. Bill had all kinds of chances to pull him - he basically gave away 8 free points. - Two times the front ends of one and one's - and then two of the double bonus, like I have said if not Mitch then hell he could of inserted Cunliffe either one of them this will not be the last time for sure. - You can count on it Monday against squeaky if the same situation arises.

Coach said Doke is going to have to be on the floor later in big games - he going to have to make the shot - -Well I have seen multiple times late in big games where a team will pull the weak link - poor free throw shooter out late so this doesn't cost the game - Self has to understand. - Just like Kruger doing what he has to do to win big games - -Self has to do what he needs to do to win big games, that's why he is paid the big bucks - -if that includes taking Doke out - -then he has to take him out.

@Big-Clyde52 Ok buddy. Just relax. Bill Self made a calculated decision. He knew his actions could likely cost THIS GAME, but he wanted his player to know he had confidence in him for the rest of the SEASON. He was thinking long term. He knew we had a two game lead in the league race, he knew Doke is going to have to shoot free throws at some point in March. He decided to sacrifice the security of winning this game for future benefits. Will it pay off? Maybe, maybe not. But it wasn't bone headed and shouldn't cause anyone to lose any sleep.

Honestly, I'll be surprised if he doesn't leave Doke in again at least one more time in conference play and likely once in the conference tournament. It is abundantly clear that KU is at its best when Doke is in the game and Self wants to maximize the time KU can be at its best. That means giving Doke opportunities to fix his freethrow situation in game. You know he's been practicing and Self must have seen at least some progress to give him that opportunity. It just isn't showing in games yet.

I do also think Self left him in do get at Lon a little bit. Self prescribes to certain myths about manhood and I think he was challenging Kruger's manhood by leaving him in there. Kinda saying, "if that's how low you want to stoop to win, I'm not going to bail you out by pulling him. You can't control what players I play when. I'm going to make you go into that press room and talk about how your team couldn't defend mine and had to resort to intentional fouling to eek out a win in your own building." If Kruger prescribes to similar myths, this may very well impact future matchups and the confidence of his team. If not, well...the #12 team beat the #5 team at home by 5. Next.

AND - -as long as the rule stays the same - Lon BY FAR is not going to be the last to use this tactic against KU. - you can take it to the bank anytime in the final minutes if it is anywhere close this is what we are going to see. ya ok , so he is trying to instill confidence in Doke but at what expense?

Should the rest of the team that's bust their ass for 40 minutes have to suffer the L because Doke's inability to make free throws? - those points are just what it says - -FREE , It was a very boneheaded move costing big, when you have TWO other much better free throw pct players sitting at the end of the game that could of been on the floor -Don't blame Lone - it is within the rules, as long as it is - -If Coach is going to risk that - then I don't blame Kruger for doing whatever is needed to pick up a big win in league, just as Coach should of done what needed to be done - -We were in control of this game - Can't agree. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Good morning everyone, well not sure if it's a good morning or not but at least we was blessed to open our eyes again this morning for another day. Anyways now since I have had some time I'm still trying to digest this whole scenario from last nights game.

I do realize that I get wrapped up in our games , a lot of times way to much and act very irrational , make an idiot out of myself, which seems to be not very hard to do - just like I do here a lot of times , say crazy things without much thought. I'm at an age I need to overcome these shortcomings, BUT this is something that has been a downfall, I just never like to see KU lose and I over react a lot of times BUT:

Now I want to say this , and before all the Trae Young followers that are just awed by him let me say Trae probably played one of his best games last night. Not eye popping number - pretty dam good but he also got his team involved - -made pretty good decisions during the game so ya - - I want to make sure you guys understand I acknowledged that. - - However, Trae is NOT the reason we lost that game, He played a huge part but it was not him that determined the game.

Our Coach Bill Self cost us that game, Coach Self even said as much in his post game. " He said this loss was on him - - he screwed up. " Yes Bill you screwed up. - -With your actions you have now allowed WV , K-State , Oklahoma , all right back in the race - that's all you. - I know very true guys YES - Devonte play a crappy game , couldn't make a shot seemed if his life depended on it, some crazy timing on shots when not falling, YES- Vick once again had a disappearing act not sure what the hell has happened to him , they both factored in for sure. - -BUT Malik - - -SVI - - -Mitch - - -& even Garrett to a some what lesser degree - -they played their ass off, they didn't deserve this - their not what cost us this game. - You , You Coach Self - -your the reason this game was lost.

Your I'm not sure what to call it - your umm bullheadedness - - Stuberness however you want to say it - -that is the reason. - - -You refusing to take Doke out , that is well not the only reason but by far the main reason for this loss. - We ( KU ) -had taken control of this game - up 10 late , and then it happen. - The hack a Doke, and it will continue to happen for sure now as if it wasn't going to anyways. - You have to realize , that we just can not have Doke in late game situations in a close game, we just can't. Other teams I've seen in the past where they have had a liability in the end of the game - -they take them OUT. - -

It is perfectly clear now to me that for some reason you have turned away from Sam - he in your doghouse for some reason or something. Otherwise answer WHY you couldn't of switched Sam late , going with 5 small , I totally get Garrett maybe not an option as his free throw shooting is just about as bad as Doke - - but Sam? - -Sure it might/probably would of made a liability on the defensive end late in the game easier baskets possibly - -maybe not for OU - -BUT I know this - -you sure the hell wouldn't of seen them hacking away every time down the floor. - I've seen multiple other teams take their weak link out late, but why you can't do it?

You ask Doke if he wanted to stay in? - -What the hell you think he is going to say? - who is the Coach? - -You or Doke? - -you have to make the decision sure it might be a hard decision - but that's why your paid - YOUR the Coach - -Not Doke. -Why couldn't of you put Mitch in? -Mitch has really improved on his free throw shooting this year? - -I don't get it - -yes Bill you cost us a bug road game win -You snatched defeat out of the jaws of Victory. - -Malik - - SVI - - Mitch - -& again even Garrett didn't deserve this outcome. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@BeddieKU23 I think it is becoming more interesting by the day with Vick and then what his future holds for him.

Not that long ago I would of said it's a given that after this year he is gone to the NBA. - -Now I just don't know , I'm not sure what has happened , I do know this , we need him back and being aggressive and positive.

Soo do we want a Senior of Vick OR do we want Langford? - -Either way is a very good situation to be in I think. - -We either get one more year with Vick BUT an experienced 4 year good player OR we get ONE year with a stud. - -I have wavered back and forth on this but as much as I would love to have Langford if Vick wanted to come back - -It is awfully hard to turn experience away - -I think I would rather take Vick and what would be his 4 years of Major College ball. - So what you think? - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Do you think any team would want to see any Big 12 team in the second round of the tourney with the exception of maybe ok st from what they have seen thus far?

Give me Iowa State I'd take them as my opponent all day long in the tourney this year - -they are really bad. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

What if Bruce ties for the league win again? :joy:

That is exactly what I was thinking with my previous post. If they beat us next week.......that is what they will be thinking.

you know they actually have a very legit chance of knocking us off in the little purple barn next week, they are playing pretty good ball right now. - -IF they do I hope there is no Jamari repeat because the end result might not turn out quite as well this time. - - OMG could you imagine lol -- could you imagine they knock us off & then storm the court again and some little purple idiot tries to body thump Doke? -- LMAO - - I could just see it , they bounce of him like some little ping pong ball lmao - Doke bends down and picks them up - -are you all right there LIL FELLA lmao - -Classic - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well let's just hope that Coach has the guys ready to go against OU tonight. The way these games are playing out at the moment are favoring us BUT:

We have to be in the right frame be mentally as well as other wise prepared tonight. I'm really afraid that we are just walking into a buzz saw tonight , a worst case scenario type situation. I mean Trae has had like 3 bad games in a row and he is going to be looking to rebound back , I'm sure he is going to make a much more concerted effort to distribute to team mates get them involved - -this game will be the ONE game where Lloyd Noble will be loud - will be packed, Coach Kruger will have had the time to try and prepare Trae get him on track - -OU know that if they WANT ANY kind of a possibility that they just can not lose tonight( although with that train of thought in mind that just might make them play tighter ) -Us Being KU Trae is gonna want to play better because this is one of the games the reason he went to OU was to derail us from another straight championship, he will want better -seeing how it came down to KU & Okla in his recruitment.

All the signs point very easily to a L. - -they have everything they want for motivational purposes in this game, proving that they are indeed legit. - -BUT we too have some motivational things going , we win tonight - - that's our 4th road win in the league - - if we win put us in very good position for the moment anyways - -every game is a dog fight but for the moment a win tonight against one of the upper teams would be huge.

We just have to come out play smart. -The ESPN guys Jay & Seth was of course talking about Oklahoma and what they thought Kruger would have Trae try and do , sounds like by them any ways gonna have Trae drive the ball like he does and try and get Doke in early foul trouble - -OU set a lot of high ball screens and such exposing Doke. - -Coach has to counter , like they said I'm sure Coach Self has something up his sleeve. - Gonna be a very hard game I think, just hoping we don't come out and lay bricks - -Time to strap it on and take it to them. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Tcu and KSU are both good teams, solid.

This was a must win for TCU, they came our really inspired - -ready to play just flat took it to WV most of the game - more aggressive , they had to have this to try and save face and get a quality win to enhance their chance of a tourney bid. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@RockChalkinTexas I watched some of this game last night. Was thinking to myself mercy this place is dead, but yet when KU plays other teams - - -always packed. - -Baylor Kansas State was another case that was just sad. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Well maybe Maryland can take a little solace they have a big man. - - Schnider Herard 6' 10 transferring to Maryland from Mississippi State was ranked the # 47 recruit in the class of 2016. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@DoubleDD The thing is that is now being said with Trae that his time of possession with the ball is nuts. - the reason his team mates if you watch previous games and has been pointed out - your seeing a lot of just standing around - why is that? - -cause they have or are getting use to his one on one and then jacking up those thirty footers. - - Seth Greenburg says he needs to get back to getting tem mates involved - -very easily can get desension among the team.

The reason they have trouble - -when he passes they are not ready , anymore they said - caught off guard. - - Now having said that it would not surprise me in the least if Manek didn't just go jack shit and have an insane night or James or both they are going to be jacked sky high. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Yeah, this is a terrible year for bigs. Bol Bol is near the top and there would be classes he wouldn't be top 25 overall imo, so it's all relative.

That said overall I am high on McCormack. He will need time though. I don't think he plays much at all his first year, then plays a reserve role year two before starting and being pretty great years 3-4.

@Jayballer54 Most definitely, because Trae has this date circled.

Ya I'm quite sure - -and as he stated this is part of the reason he went to OU - -wanted to be part of the team that Broke KU's streak. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I will say that a video shot they showed last night of KU catching and beating WVU showed BP jumping up to bump the players coming back to the bench, cheering like a madman, and exultantly screaming for the victory at the end. That was only a week ago. So, I think we should still give him his due for still giving his buds his energy even if he was discouraged over his ultimate chances. He did not act like someone with a foot out the door.

YA I seen that too , still into the game pulling for his bud's - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

So Tuesday really big. - How many think we might be walking into a buzz saw?

If Oklahoma wants any chance at all of winning this championship , they HAVE to have this game. - -T rae has had 2-3 bad games and you know he is going to want to get back on track - -his team is going to want to prove themselves, show they legit. - Trae going to be hyped because us and Oklahoma were the final two teams for his recruitment and everything. - -Gonna be loud I'm sure.

Oh who remembers years back when Billy was coaching how teams would use to complain about how hot it was in Noble? - like they kicked it up when teams came in- that was when like Chew Kennedy was there -We are going to have to strap it on gonna be tough.

Got to just throw multiple at Trae - he is gonna get points , we just have to keep others from career nights ( Manek ) - -( James ) - -your not going to stop Trae - you just have to stop the others - we just HAVE to do better rebounding the ball.

I think we all know we are playing on borrowed time - one of these times we play like we have been playing other then the WV game with our come back - it's gonna jump up and bite us in the ass , if we can steal anoher road win would be big - -especially with the way we have been playing at th3e Phog this year. - We still ahve some huge games at the Phog - at this point I don't think there is anyway we don't lose another game at the Phog this year unless things change. - WV - -Okla - -Texas A & M - -we need this road win - - what ya think? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
