@BeddieKU23 the transfer guy that had the foot surgery was out earlier. Just heard he was getting a mri, about 10 days ago. Good 3 pt shooter.
Ok found it. Both LJ Cryer and Adam Flagler are game time decisions. It will be a pain management situation for both. Akinjo also playing hobbled but not on the GT list.
ya I listened to Drew's interview with the media and they were asking about Flagger an Cryer and he said then it would be a game time decision just depended on how well they could tolerate the pain . - if they can play and contribute then they will be good to go. - -I expect both to play , to what capicity who knows
@Crimsonorblue22 said in Dave:
@mayjay when you look at game pics of Dave, seems to be 5 guys fouling the crud out of him. He probably anticipates them if they aren't there. Harder then it looks for us that give him crap. Just don't dribble or take the ball down!😡. I think he does better out top, nobody hacking him, nice jump shot. 🤷♀️
In one respect you talk about Dave bringing the ball down, and that's true Dave has the same problem many many Big's do - and the advantage they have is taken away when they do that. He needs to reeive it high - -keep it high but again he just falls into the same routine as many others. Thing is with Dave he brings it down and then becomes mechanical looking like he is thinking about what to do next.
We had this Coach when I was in high school many many moons ago -and at that time our big man was a 6'5 guy back in the early 70's 6'5 was pretty legit. At least where I went to school. Coach use to get so mad at him he would bring it down- -Coach would say as he went to the rim, he would say Randal THIS is an appartus-- NOW Randal take the ball to the apparatus insinuating he wanted Randall to flush everything instead of bring it down-- had to laugh
@kuballin10 said in Yesufu and Remy:
@jayballer67 you’re assuming he will get in foul trouble. You’re assuming the other team will feed the post like we feed Dave meanwhile most teams don’t they get out and run.
There is a definite risk of foul trouble but what we gain offensively (only when Dave is bad) seems worth it for 4-5 minutes a game....let’s see what happens.
6-8 trex svi shut down 6-11 235 Bagley...
Are you saying teams won' recognize and try to take advantage of matchup problems ? - -Sure most teams will get out and run but they don't always transition to the finish. Most decent caliber coach can recognize a mis match - -doesn't and won't take them long. - -Wilson usually manages to stay away from a lot of foul trouble but if you put him at the 5 - -unless he is just gonna give un-contested shot after uncontested shot - -he WILL get in foul trouble and quickly if you try him at the 5. The opposition 5 backing him down - he just can not match up against legit P-5 Centers they will take him to the hole and school him like nobodys business and there would be a lot and ones- -AGAIN that will just not work a total mis match in every way shape or form
@BShark said in Yesufu and Remy:

I hada heard was going to be an extended time -- maybe ready for the NCAA's - time for Joe to step up
@BShark said in 2022 Recruiting Thread:
@Texas-Hawk-10 It's going to be very difficult to add a post player if the roster has Udeh, Zach, KJ, Zuby, Cam Martin and JWill. Just from a numbers perspective that is a lot of post players even if JWill is more of a perimeter post player/big guard. I wouldn't mind adding such a player, but I think it would require processing someone. That Bill didn't try to add this kind of player last off-season to give us anything behind Dave was somewhat baffling.
I do think JWill is still leaving though, from what I have heard.
Cuffe is at a minimum another year away. Will be interesting to see what he decides to do.
Bill talked about wanting to sign 5 in the fall and all the missed targets were guards and for the most part bigger guards. Seems to be something they are after we will have to see if it comes to fruition.
I just don't think IF J alen does stay I just don't think you ever try to play him at the 5 - -just a really bad fit with his defense all your gonna do is get him a quick hook because of foul trouble and having to set and taking a scoring option away from us - -If Jalen does stay he needs to stay where he is much better we need point production and you not getting any benefit from him on either end of the court if you play him at the 5 - -foul trouble on the defensive end and have a hard time trying to score over the top of athletic bigs on the offensive end
I know I'm in the minority by far with Cam BUT I would really like to see him at least gt some kind of a chance next year .I know people say he isn't athletic enough but hell we got that problem now got talent but not that teir athlete - would love to see him pull opposition out of the lane stretch the floor - I know won't happen but wish they would at least give him a look. - - they finally gave Joe a look - -hell give Cam a legit chance /minutes a game turn him loose let him play - but anyway
@jayballer67 His desire to get things done perfectly gets in his own way.
It is the difference between acting and reacting "instinctively," and planning all your actions trying to anticipate and avoid all possible problems. We can't really think and plan our actions as fast as a sport like basketball requires. A sport like curling, in contrast, is one that allows for slow deliberate planned movements. (Timely reminder: curling will be happening a lot this month, the best part of winter sports!)
In writing, we always called it "perfection paralysis" but coaches and athletes refer to overcoming it as feeling like the game has slowed down.
Dave seems to plod at times, and I think it happens when he is just overwhelming his reactivity with too much thinking about it.
Exactly in plain words that's what I've been saying. Just seems a lot of times when Dave gets the ball it's almost like ok - -what do I do next , what is my next move - - he over thinks instead of like you mention just going on instinct - makes a big difference between playing freely and then on the other to mechanical/robotic

that's good news of course in reality I never had any doubt he wouldn't.- - going to be interesting thouh to what extent he will be able to play , what efficency I'm sure not 100 %
@kuballin10 said in Yesufu and Remy:
@jayballer67 what you said about Wilson is true but same for Mitch and Kj (he’s 6-6 and has played the 5).
I’m conceding D won’t be good but that’s okay I expect with Joe and Harris hounding the ball that I’m willing to give that up for having the 5 best basketball players and scorers on the floor.
Give up defense for better offense and pushing the pace. Opens things up for Och and Braun.
Also what Texashawk said the breakdown per player is correct each has their deficiencies.
I'm not saying anything about putting the best 5 on the floor, the thing is you try and put Jalen in that 5 spot which he is probably more then not one of our 5 best players- - -you put him in that 5 spot and get abused trying to defend all your gonn acomplish is getting him in foul trouble and then we lose one of our best five -- just wouldn't work. - But we all have our opinions nothing wrong with that
@kuballin10 said in Yesufu and Remy:
@jayballer67 Wilson leads the team in rebounds? What he can’t defend the block against Oscar....neither can Dave or Mitch.
When it’s bad Dave (which is often) this is our best 5 players.
Harris
Joe
Och
Braun
WilsonI don’t want Mitch or KJ they don’t bring enough.
Top rebounders
Wilson
Dave
Och
BraunYou guys act like we are giving up a lot when in reality we are fine we have 6-6, 6-8, 6-8. Yes, if we play Oscar again I get it but after watching Svi shut down Bagley in the Elite 8.....rolling with Wilson at the 5 puts our best players on the court.
No Wilson can't defend - e gets bullied around his frame will not take that bigger athletic 5's will eat him up . . Kentucky come to mind -not alone Oscar but others. he can rebound the ball just fine from where he is at he needs to stay where he is Five is not a good fit- -there is no way he can defend a big 6'10 - physical big he just doesn't have the stature for that you will never see him play the 5 spot for any extended amount of time IF any just won't work
@Jethro said in Yesufu and Remy:
@BeddieKU23 He won't play Jalen at the 5. The rebounding disadvantage is too much.
Agee Wilson not gonna play the 5. not a good fit
I think since Coach said Remy being out for an extended amount of time for sure Joe has to see the floor a lot more. proved himself well against ISU , I realize that it was just one game but loved the way he played. With Remy out Bobby still not 100 % having Joe and Juan on the floor like they were the tam is jsut to me anyways so much more agressive defensively - -both quick. Not sureh ow many steals they had between them but - He has just GOT TO SEE the floor from here on
@BeddieKU23 said in Dave:
Definitely not the first player to come here struggling with the mental aspect of forgetting the last play on the court. Still you would have thought after 3 1/2 yrs it wouldn't be such a factor in whether he plays well or not. Good Dave changes a lot of things for this team.
A lot of things. I'm probably just about as a pro Dave Mc fan there is but even saying that I get just as frustrated as others here do, & I think what is so frustrating is when Dave is good-- - -Dave is good like pretty good, and most just think that's the wy he should be all the time including me. - So many things can go wrong and do go wrong all we can do is just continue to support the big guy through good times & frustrating tiims. Just hope we see the Dave that was pretty consistent towards the end of last year. If he get's that way and on a roll then that's a HUGE bonus to have that legit five to help the team through the NCAA'S
we don't have to worry about that - -there is no chance in hell he would land here.

Bryce Thompson had 22 pts last night for OSU in a losing effort at K-State.
I think Bryce is starting to find himself - - Good for him , just another case of not the right fit, maybe he put to much pressure on himself at the beginning. He was highly ranked and felt he had to really produce more and didn't meet those expectations of himself. - -Could be a Grimes 2.0 - -look how Quinton turned out - -look where he is now - -it happens
Something I feel I think getting these 10 Super Seniors back is Huge. - Nice lift/bonus for us , as there are some that has played a big role and gives us needed experience. Malcolm Lee played in all 12 games - - Earl Bostick played in all 12 games I think myself getting Bostick coming back is Big ( experience leadership for the younger guys. Then Caleb Sampson played in 10 games thinks he also is big , -then having Takulve Williams , Sam Burt & Eddie Wilson can only help.
Not gonna lie - - I'm stoked I think Coach has sure pulled the right strings , done thIngs right - recruited well and hit the portal huge and gotten key guys to commit to the program - I think were getting out of this hole. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

KU Women with a nice win tonight .65-56 over Oklahoma St , makes Ku to 14-5 on the year and 5-4 in the Big 12. - - 1st time KU had a season sweep of Okie State since 95-96 - The ladies went on a 20-0 run in a come back from 14 down at one point. - - The ladies Big - Jackson had 18 points - - 12 rebounds - -and 4 blocks. - -Nice job ladies

Dilworth is signed, so ends the HS class of 2022. All that's left are a handful or so of portal spots. To hazard a guess looking at the spring 2 deep, probably S, DL, OL, WR in that order. The only targets I know about right now are the twins from UNT. Far too soon to tell on the others. I think we'll see a pause on portal entries for awhile.
Hopefully the staff has a few targets at Michigan picked out

Well just got off that dreaded awful TOS that others have mentioned. - Was under the post of 2023 recruits , here is one that caught my eye surprised me in a good way.
Never know and ya probably a really long stretch to think he would commit here but at least noticed we made his top 7, Kid is a 4 * Wide receiver. - -Thing is in his 247 profile ranked pretty dam high. - - in the 247 Composite he is the # 108 ranked player-- 10th best athlete -- & 21st in Texas - -- Then the 247 has him as the # 53 ranked- - 6th best Athlete - & 10th best coming out of Texas
The kid's name is Ryan , Neblett - -and thig is he had KU in his top 5 schools he was interested in along with Alabama , Arkansas , Baylor , Houston.
Read now where we have made his cut to top 7 - they are pretty much the Same - Alabama , Arkansas , Baylor , Houston , Texas Tech , & Texas A & M- - -he has dropped USC - - Penn State & I think Florida last one might not be right.
Again I know it's a really long stretch BUT like a poster stated - -we v.might not have a snow balls chance in hell to land him - -BUT just to be mentioned in the conversation is for sure progress, can you even begin to imagine 3-4-5 yrs ago some ne like this listing KU in a top 5/7 or een 1000. - - Farmer I know it's really early bud BUT have you hear anything on this kid ?I know he likes us a lot. But this seems like a courtesy add to me ¯_(ツ)_/¯
sure would be nice though IF he did
KU goes on the road, plays short handed 12 Steals Joe 3 steals I think they said 4 rebounds , 6 points - -KU shoots 56 % from the field - - their 2nd highest % of the season. -- -Brockington for ISU scored 24 points but had to take 28 shots to get thos points and ISU shot in the 20"s field goal wise - -Pretty good night overall
