@justanotherfan The only problem - well no more then that but one of the major one's why he is playing those minutes you speak of is because Of Doke being hurt - -I think we agreed on that - -BUT - - if we DON'T play these minutes -- WHO do we play ? - -Coach doesn't have any other options with anyone else - -Marcus is the best we have with Doke being out - -or so its been shown to this point anyways.

IF we don't play Marcus right now - -then we would be replacing Marcus with a player that really couldn't be more of and offensive threat - -or hardly anymore the Marcus - -plus they would be more of a liability on the defensive end then Marcus. - -So what you would have is you would be replacing Marcus with a guy worse on the defensive end and not really any better consistent offense player - -your not gaining anything.

@justanotherfan the thing to remember just as you said we can't afford for him 25 minutes a game and what people are forgetting or ignoring whatever the idea is - the ONLY reason he is getting the minutes he is getting now is because of Doke's injury -under normal game conditions he won't be getting these amount of minutes to hinder the offensive side. - -just a little thought

As far a not needing Marcus to score, Idon't agree with that either. He needs to be a scoring threat either from the outside, mid-range or penetrating, otherwise teams can leave him unguarded and basically have 5 players defend 4 and one is going to be double teamed everytime which is not good.

I had high hopes for Marcus since it was reported that he had been working over the Summer with his uncle, who is a coach, fixing his shooting and was doing rather well. The problem is that apparently they tried making his poor shooting form more efficient and it did not make any measurable progress and the ceiling for that style is very low. Marcus needed to first, change his shooting form to the correct one with a much higher ceiling and second, improve the efficiency of his new style. I will guess next summer the staff will not let the uncle anywhere near Marcus.

Wouldn't you think for him you would want him to go somewhere that he fits - -such as K-State - they implement the fullback quite a bit in their scheme - -perfect fit - -I would want him to be happy - -not just because well my brothers both went here so you owe us for him. - - doesn't work that way -think this works out for both actually

The main problem is 1) grimes apparently can’t figure out D1 ball. 2) most of the team had yet to learn how to play consistent D and communicate on switches and learn to box out. One of the most inconsistent defenders is Vick. D Lawson also is slow on defense.
Good thing they can score.

I have to agree with you on a lot of this - - by far our best defender - -hands down - - - -rebounds well for his position - -very quick hands - -quick feet. - -Garrett is not our problem. I just think this team has holes - -sometimes feels like a lot of holes - -Offensively AND defensively both.

Again Garrett is not - - is not the problem. - -True on the offensive end is a liability but by far not the only one. Tech has a good defense. Duke has a very good defense too. It's important for Tech to execute on offense and not turn the ball over. That way they keep Duke out of transition and make them score against their half-court defense.

I think Duke will win by 10. Hope I'm wrong. Do everyone in college basketball a favor, tortilla bois.

Well trying to put some positive spin on our boys this year.

Guys here is something to take in - - ok , yes you know we have had close games every games this year - - -BUT when you look at it this way , you have to feel better. I like you would rather have a few comfortable one's along the way -anyways.

If you look and realize Even with our 5 * SG Quentin just looking totally lost - -not really getting anything at this point - - -when your OTHER point Guard is really not giving a lot when he comes in ( Charlie Moore ) - -- and even though LaGerald has had a decent season but still has times where he is no where to be found- - not a much but you know what I'm getting at. - - Where you Have your top 5 man now hurt and sitting on the sidelines - -and yet - -were still undeafted. - -still have found ways to win.

The one thing we have had and it is a HUGE one and that's Dedric - - - -pretty solid. - The funny thing is , well for me anyways , you watch him and it's like - -he is not extra quick -- seems like he can't jump with a hoot - - his outside shot really hasn't been thee that well yet I mean OUTSIDE jumpers -- and with all this - -every game you look up and the guy either has or rally close to a double - -Double , if makes me wonder how does our boy do it? - -Not flashy by any means just get's it done.

@FarmerJayhawk - - thing is Clint isn't going to be the Defensive Coordinator - -he is going to be the safties Coach - -so no reason not to let him be. - - Big difference between the two. - - got to remember that a lot of times during the season this year when other teams went deep on Clint's secondary - -it WASN'T because of bad coverage - -it was just a matter of being out jumped - -their receivers just reaching over the top of the defense - -all just a matter of a 6' - -6'1 Defensive back - -battling against a 6'4 -- -6'5 receiver - -Clint can't do anything on that - -he gonna be fine as a safety Coach

well here is the latest on Dean from Ol squeaky. - - -the injury ia a small tear in a tendon in his foot.

Squeaks now saying time out could be in the best case scenario of 3-4 weeks - which would be like him missing like the first 5 games or so in the Big 12 schedule - - the worst case Scenario which could be 8 weeks - -which if that turns out to be the case they said - -yes he could be available for the game against us in the Phog BUT not sure if it would be worth it - -thinking I guess about the tourney.

Even more importantly, he opens a potential secondary recruiting pipeline into Mississippi. So far we have three HS players and three juco players. Parchment was previously at Northern Illinois, while Naylor committed to Kennesaw State (FCS) out of HS. That should immediately boost the offense by having a new QB and some new threats on the outside.

Still looking for some defensive signings at the juco level. Having the HS guys is good for the future, but the D could use some stabilizing forces as well with Dineen graduating.

You’d be correct. I think it’s KU or Carolina. People are reading too much into him taking the process slowly. Like I’ve been saying, until recently he’s been more interested in his HS football team than college basketball. If folks think that means KU isn’t getting him, I don’t see the connection.
