KSUCK as per most seasons won’t beat anyone in a run and gun tempo. They need to win a defensive struggle. With the depth we have this season I wish Bill would let the boys push the ball. I miss that about Roy’s teams, get the rebound and go!!

First off basketball is a game of runs, pretty much has been since the shot clock was implemented. Some of it as mentioned above is the age of the players, Evansville with a team full of upperclassmen beating UK last night is an example. That is also the reason we are seeing more upsets in March. The freedom of movement fouls and shorter shot clock also play a hand. In the NBA you’re not outta a game down 10 with 3 minutes to go because of the 24 seconds they get. I think KU hasn’t had team full of killers since 08 maybe 2011. We do have some tendencies to relax with a lead and a lot of that is on coaching IMO.
Elbow in, ball more to his center would help a ton.

@wissox I was excited for Charlie, I watch a couple of late night Cal games and thought he had a chance to start, at least early in the season for us. Hard to find your flow only playing a few minutes here or there but Dotson is most likely the better player.
No thank you with Mack, 67% win percentage in crap conference with Xavier. I’m plenty Good passing that by, not to mention several of his players that seemed to be actual gangsters and trouble makers. The next coach here won’t touch Bill Self’s regular season success and I’m ok with that as long as we can have more post season success. I’d gladly trade half the conference regular season titles for 2 NCs. Just win at home and win the conference more often than not. Current college coaches I’d like in no order are Jay Wright, Tony Bennett and Chris Beard. If NBA coaches Brad Stevens or Billy Donovan would consider a return I’d be fine with either of them.
@FarmerJayhawk Everyone we have starting this had multiple starts coming in. Beaty honestly did decent at skill positions in recruiting, just not smart enough to realize the game is decided in the trenches.

@FarmerJayhawk let’s face facts at this point, Hakeem is the only guy worth a crap on the offensive line. It would be tough for us to get a whole lot worse. We may not be any better for a couple more years because you need to be recruited 2 years ahead on both sides. This group for their size and experience level have been probably the most disappointing position group on the team for me.
@BShark that whole deal still bothers me along with Jax Dineen. I just hate seeing the best of local guys going elsewhere but sometimes it just doesn’t work. KSU I believe has 3 guys from free state on there 2 deep.

@Crimsonorblue22 he may have but that doesn’t mean he’s faster in race or can jump higher. Doke just need space to move those feet to the right spot and when he does it’s 2 points 80% of the time.

In football we aren’t the worse power 5 school this year. Arkansas got beat at home by Western Kentucky 45 to 19. Wow
I personally think SDS is the best candidate to improve enough to guard on the perimeter and to hit a jump shot. He looks to be much more athletic than Doke and David. This team frustrated me against Dook but make no mistake we are winning this conference and making outta the first weekend of the tournament.

@approxinfinity most runs require several breaks in truth. @Texas-Hawk-10 is right about running into a hot shooting team but we have also ran into having a good offensive team and lost.
@drgnslayr anyone that didn’t think this group would have growing pains and would have to figure out how to play together doesn’t have a very high basketball IQ.
@Texas-Hawk-10 the offense can be much improved by mid season. Last years offense wasn’t great with Doke and Dedric on the floor. The high low is dead period.
It really depends on if Bill Self sticks with the 4 out offense. If we can Develop Tristan, get Ochai and Moss to shoot it consistently we will be a very good team. If not then we will see our guards drive in 4 or 5 bodies and have to take contested shots in the paint. We all saw how much better Doke looked with a clear path.

One of those freak accidents, wasn’t doing anything but cutting. I would imagine he will get a redshirt, no sense in only playing the last month of the season when he won’t be able to do much. I Really was looking forward to seeing both him and Enrauna develop and play at the 4. Gotta be tough for the young fella.

Got sloppy and lazy after we built a lead but night and day difference between the two halfs. The first half it was hard to til who was the better team or even if we’d win. Second half was more if we’d win by 20 or more.
Enaruna is a nice surprise thus far. I thought Braun would be better, but still early.
