Weber probably should have sat him for the last month and he could be in trouble for the NCAA tournament
Wisconsin headed to OT after leading by over 20 points. Ohio state closed game on a 16-1 run in just over 5 minutes
Man I really like watching these smaller conference tournaments. They really go hard to get a chance to play next week.
@stoptheflop I agree, I wouldnt sleep on Carter Stanley, he had several good moments but the previous staff wouldnt let him play thru his mistakes like they did with Bender. I still think QB wasnt our main issue last year offensively, play calling and Oline hampered us IMO. @jayballer73 I'm as excited as I've been since 2009. May even attend my first spring game.
@HighEliteMajor so is life haha. One of the best sports movie speeches. The movie itself isn't all that great tho. @jayballer73 I'm surprised you hadn't seen it. But it's still pretty cool.
I just don't get the whole Self can do no wrong stereotype at times. Bill is a great coach, one of best but me being a former coach and being associated with the game for decades, I don't always agree with what he does. He himself has said several times in post game interviews in his time here that he did this and that wrong or what not. Bill most likely knows more about the game than any of us or so we would hope lol. But no bats a 100%, no one lives mistake free. @Crimsonorblue22 Did they have a video or anything mentioning Vick?
To add to the crazy, Arizona has the best class as of last week in the country come in. 🤔🤔
I think it was pretty obvious what happened to this team at this point. It prob ends up in the stack of teams where we are wonder what could've happened had injuries and other circumstances not showed their ugly head. I still say we are a 2 or 3 loss team easily winning the big 12 with Doke, Garrett healthy all season, SDS able to play and Vick playing like he did early in the season. But we can play the what if game all night as most people can in not only sports but life. What if Simien never go hurt in 03 or Mari and BMac were cleared in 2012? It sucks but its life.....
I'm not seeing how Indiana or Texas could get in at this point, I think they would've to at least make their conference championship games at this point.
It's interesting that Miller has been fully supported by Arizona's AD and administration tho he supposedly on a recording talking about paying 100k to Ayton. While LSU has suspended Wade for talking about an offer on recording. You could spin the word "offer" a ton of different ways but by suspending they have pretty emitted guilt IMO.
One other thing to think about is Self has said he doesn't want to be coaching by the time he's coach K's or Roy's age. I'd be shocked if he doesn't retire within the next five seasons. I think he tries to get another NC and pass Phog for wins here before he goes. Obviously baring he gets let go amid major sanctions this summer.
@BShark I've been able to watch a bit and he is damn good for a kid that no one wanted. Dude is just a Sophomore averaging 24 points and 10 assists a game. You see some guys like that for the small schools from time to time like the Curry's, McCallum's and that Woodside kid from NDSU (just the guys that played us) that dropped 40 on Sherron Collins in the first round in 2009, Collins always claimed he was the toughest guy he ever guarded while at KU. It's really not that surprising when you think about how Graham and Mason could've been players at Towson and Appalachian State. Those guy could've averaged 25 plus for those team because they prob would've had to shoot the ball twice as often for their team to have a chance. Its gotta be a tough job rating these kids and deciding who to go after because a ton of kids look great in high school and AAU ball has turned into the NBA all star game, where no one plays defense. The most shocking thing about Morant is he played AAU ball on the same team as Zion for a couple of years. So just about every major school prob saw the kid play a time or two. I wouldn't sleep on Murray State for sure, because anytime you have the best player on the court, you have a chance to win. The rest of the Davidson team has experience but was average at best but having Curry gave them a chance.
I think there is a good chance that if we landed Romeo Vick would've stayed gone. But I think when he was the good Vick early on he helped us win games. I've been saying it all year I wish Sam would've stayed and Chuck would've gone (if anyone, not saying I hopes he leaves) but Sam was a damn good athlete and with his size could've helped us defensively and rebounding wise.
@jayhawkcsg I agree he was just terrible during the second, worse than hes ever been by a lot.
@Hawk8086 I didnt think he was too bad before today, like I said nearly every call against Baylor was bogus according to him. I'm personally done with I will mute every game that dipshit calls of ours from here forward. As I also said Dook averages more than 20 more fts per game at home than opponents, yet no one questions it....ever. If we get one call it's on ESPN home page like we've never had a bad call go against us. This is why I completely stopped watching ESPN besides our games.
@jayhawkcsg by saying Fran was great, you discredited yourself from future topics lol. He spent literally 3/4 of the game bashing every call against Baylor.
20th undefeated season in AFH, zero in any gym in Methattan
I'd advise others to do the same and put in comments if they give you the option because bias to the ACC
I'm pissed I just canceled my ESPN+ fuck them
Yet all the folks at ESPN don't have balls to question the officials in Cameron when its 40 fts to 10.
I hate Fran
Maybe the longest half in history
@BShark remember this is a great crew!!! What a joke
Get ready for ft shooting contest now
Clearly extended his hand in Dedrics face easy call for non retards
F*** off Fran, ghost foul for KU....2 minutes later a ghost foul for Baylor- great call!
David and Grimes are two huge keys to how we go in the tournament and Dedric hitting easy shots.
@Hawk8086 we missed several open bunnies with Dedric, they are lucky it's not a minimum of 15 points.
Maybe chuck should pull up from half court, that's his closest shot in awhile lol.
David will be a better player than Dedric by this time next year.
We'd be up 30 if Dedric could hit a Good gosh darn thing.
So will we be back with run 2 bigs all the time next year? We are starting 2 right now but seem to be playing with 4 guards more. I think some of it may have to do with what Doke decides but unless SDS is given a lesser penalty I dont see us having a choice. I still would like for us to sign a big guy for next years class given Dedric is mostly done and not knowing about Doke.
@BeddieKU23 If Bill Self makes the sweet 16 with these guys, he cements himself even more as one of the best in the game. Its amazing to look back at some of the teams he was able to win the conference with. There is just so much negativity with this team and I hate it. Not saying I haven't been negative but with all the bad news surrounding this program right now. I'm pleased that we haven't gone completely under like WV or ISU seems to be. I'm more disappointed in how we lost the B12 title not becuase we did. IMO we haven't played with enough energy and fire on the road, whoch can happen with young teams but is still frustrating. I just hope the FieldHouse is full Saturday and we can close out another undefeated season in there. I'd be shocked if its a true sellout, when I went to the OSU game, there were more empty seats than I have ever seen in that place and I've been to a Wednesday game vs Holy Cross. There were 8 seats right behind us that no one ever used and at least 15 of the wood seat backs about half way up empty, several up in the each corner and some empty throughout the place. If I was to guess there was a minimum of 100 seats open. Everyone needs to go if able and support our team and university. Even if we are in a down year of finishing 3rd and winning 20 plus games, lol that sounds funny when you think about it.
@wissox that's the beauty of it, if anyone here before the tournament started last year said KSU was going to the elite 8, we would shunned them lol. We all figured a second loss to Virginia was most likely. I'm not banking on anything from us this season, depends on our match ups. I've only picked KU to lose in the first round 1 time and it was accurate in 2006 with Bradley. I saw a team with a ton more experience and size. Some give me a hard time for picking us to lose but in bracket challenges that involve money, I do what I think is most likely not what i want to happen.
I've heard this repeatedly as well and I think its fictional. People think losing the conference was the last straw which is laughable. I only see him leaving if KU gets blasted back to the stone age by the NCAA. It just sounds silly to me
WV and ISU have gone down super quick, glad we aren't reaching that low.
It seems pretty evident that Lagerald Vick quit and that's sad for all parties involved. Earlier in the year he was in draft boards for early second round, a good tournament he may have slipped into the first round. It frustrating personally for me because I worked my ass off to be an average player and these guys that have a gift throw it all away. The world is a funny place in those terms. I applaud Bill Self for handling it like a professional and not throwing him under the bus.
@BShark is he a junior? Maybe to tough to get him with Dotson and the guy we already have signed for this year. But if hes a junior we should look at him. I think we need to go after the 2 best guys most years in our state/area (KC).
@justanotherfan Raimey looked like the best player on the court for much of that game to me.
I feel like you can already sense the culture change that's going on with in the program. I feel like the city of Lawrence has done great in welcoming Les, his family and staff in to town. But I also tell people to be easy with expectations, he's not gonna win 10 games outta the gate. I think 4 is a realistic goal for this season.
@wissox I think he didn't mention them because they aren't playing.
@DanR I disagree with you but I still you like you ole friend
The guy that covers our local sports here and has been for 40 years, a KU grad and fan, said that was the most dead man walking team he had ever seen at KU. He said their body language before tip looked like a team that didn't want to be there at all.
If we have good Vick not Evil Vick, we prob had a way better chance last night but we prob beat KSU on the road with good Vick but he was evil that game lol.
@HighEliteMajor I agree, although I don't think it's the same because KU has been so terrible in football. KSU has been decent in BB since 06 and beat 5 times since. It's really not all that shocking that a team full of seniors can beat out a KU with some of their best players not able to go.
Wonder if KSU has already started making DVDs
@nuleafjhawk I'd love it if those bastards choked it away Saturday. All sorts of shit talking going on this morning in person and on Facebook/Twitter. From WSU aswell, I told them losers good luck in the NIT lol. KSU is looking for their first conference championship out right since 1977.
@dylans Agreed, I'm not as upset that we lost the streak more upset with how we lost it. It was gonna end at some point. Maybe this is what we need to move forward and focus on being better in the NCAA tournament. Our teams have put a lot into not being the team to mess it up so maybe it can be spun positive for the next few seasons.
I honestly get the feeling we dont win again til November. I could be wrong but I just don't see it happening.
