Just Announced the hiring of Mike Ekeler as Special Teams Coordinator, He has been everywhere under the sun. The last 2 seasons he was at UNC but has had time at OU, Nebraska, LSU (under Miles), Indiana, USC, North Texas and Georgia. He doesn't seem to hang around very long but has a experience and has had some solid units.

Sorensen has never been a NFL caliber player, he must have pictures on someone and Scandrick couldn’t make 2 other teams in the preseason. The organization finally was smart enough to draft a QB instead of trading for some else’s garbage and then hire the worst secondary I’ve ever seen. KUs secondary would be better.
Sutton needs to be let go Monday, he should’ve been let go after the New England game. Why the Chiefs didn’t take the touchback up 7 with 7 minutes to go instead of running it out to the 10 yard line. Very poor coaching tonight all around.

There maybe more pressure on the Chargers tonight than the Chiefs. They don't want to have to play Wildcard weekend especially with 11 or 12 wins. I think the cold weather game could favor the Chargers ground attack if Gordon plays, the Chiefs could be missing Hunt alot tonight. Ware is a good backup but doesn't have the ability that Hunt did.
A win tonight would huge but a loss doesn't doom them. I'm with @justanotherfan win the next 2 and let scrubs beat the hapless raiders to finish out the season.
@justanotherfan Very true, I think Kansas usually has about 5 or 6 D1 guys in the average class. Most of those guys are at KSU or OU it seems.
Free State Brewery is good, I love Jefferson's, The burger stand is really good and Pyramid is good pizza. There prob isn't a place in Lawrence that I don't enjoy eating at , we usually go were we can get in especially when a game is that weekend.
@HighEliteMajor Indiana didn't play basketball til 1901 and were pretty much irrelevant til the late 1920s from 1926 to 1993 they were at a blue blood status with a few misses in that time similar to our history in that span (average at best for a decade in the early 40s after the 1940 NC). Outside of the FF in 02 and 3 conference titles they have done nothing since 1993.
Indiana isn't a Blue Blood IMO anymore. they haven't won a NC in over 30 years and only have 2 FF in that span. They also have only 3 conference titles since 1993, I haven't considered them a Blue Blood in a decade. People wanted to say we weren't blue blood because we went so long between titles, Indiana has one NC since the tournament expanded to 64+ teams.
@KUSTEVE They have been a solid program for the most part, I'd say fairly even with IU at this point which isn't a Blue Blood to me. IU has a better overall history but has only been relevant about 5 seasons since the mid 90s even before Knights departure. Villanova was always a decent program but went from 1940 to 2008 with only 1 FF (85 NC) and 5 conference championships. That isn't good enough to be a Blue Blood IMO.
@Crimsonorblue22 Sickening and @Texas-Hawk-10 I'd say rich has more to do with that color personally. Several people of all kinds of races have been slapped on the wrist for crimes you or me would go away for decades just because they are famous or have money.

@Crimsonorblue22 I think you have to start Garrett on him, in the FF it didn't matter who we had on him, he made it look easy. He's hands down our best on ball defender, Dotson is pretty solid as well but probably can't guard a 6'8 guy. Vick maybe another guy that has at times played great defense and has the ability so Self put him on as well.
@JayHawkFanToo No one would question the greatness of the program. I'm just saying I think I'd rather have him in Manhattan than Littrell or Leavitt. Those guys built programs at the FBS level from scratch, I'm not saying KSU is in shambles but the cabinet isn't full either. I personally think the Sunflower Showdown is better in all sports when we both have respectable teams but I don't want KSU to have a ton of success.
Nova looks like garbage at this point but Pascall is a match up nightmare. He's way faster that Dedric and can score on Garrett. If we dont let anyone else go nuts we will probably be ok. Watching us struggle with average teams and the way Wright has had Selfs number, only a fool thinks this will be a route in favor of ku. Nova could've been looking past this game pretty easily.
One thing to note, is that he inherited a well oiled machine at NDSU and has maintained it well but he hasn't had to build anything let alone at the P5 level. NDSU has had good success against FBS competition but it ain't like they have played a ton of good schools, only one ranked team on that list and several crappy programs kansas included.
We just hired Emmett Jones as WR coach, Jones has spent the past 3 season as an outside receivers coach at Texas Tech. Looks like another solid hire.
I'm sure he would be a guy that the Royals would need to get but he has speed and defense. Those type of guys were who were acquired before the Championship. He doesn't have much of a bat but can steal bases.
The longer it goes on the more I think hes done here and with the NCAA announcing that they wouldnt yand out penalties til after this season, which includes SDS I suppose. At this point I just dont want anything vacated.
I'm just gonna be honest Jucos scare me a bit I think 2 or 3 is okay but if we get crazy with them as did Weis and Beaty even at times it will hurt scholarship numbers.

The scoop that I got was Littrell was offered the job but they wouldn't allow him to bring in his whole staff and couldn't agree with North Texas on the buyout. So hard to tell fact from fiction on these deals til someones name is on the dotted line and announced.
I dont think you'll see any Kansas guy go in the first round at this point. I bet Doke goes but its mid second round as well as Vick. Any updated mock draft I've seen has moved Grimes out of the first round or not getting picked at all. Dotson also isn't on any that I've seen, I'd be shocked if both of those guys aren't back next season. If Dedric is a part of a deep run in march, you may see him try to go over seas. I think with an early exit he will return but you never know @BShark had a dream we won the title and Dedric went nuts about how he coming back for another lmao.

Reports are coming in that former Colorado and Kentucky DC D.J. Eliot has been hired to be the DC here at Kansas. I don't think this is a big name hire and a lot of people are questioning it at this point. He really didn't do great at Colorado but he was solid in helping turn around Kentucky. I also think he inherits more talent at KU for next season than he had at Colorado, which we all know you can't win the Kentucky Derby on a donkey.
If he really gets a big say in who the next coach is and what he does, they may as well kept him around another year or 2 because that is going to run off several coaches. Coaches want to run the ship without someone over their shoulder at every turn.
You would think we have a fair shot at flipping Garber with KSU not announcing a hire to this point. Also we should should try and flip Javier Derritt a 2 star DT that was teammates with Russel and currently is committed to NDSU. I’d to get a couple of 4 star guys but we must sign 15 players at this point, the best of which we can get.
Hopefully he doesn’t turn into the next John Randle, boy I thought he was gonna be great and he was for a couple of years just pissed it all away. Then his little brother did the same thing SMH, it crazy to me how stupid some of these guys are that blow there chance at not only being filthy rich but greatness.
It will be interesting to see how his early signing period goes for us, I’ll remind everyone that this is the early period so if we only sign 3 or 4 guys, there is no reason to panic. After watching Michigan play a couple of times, I think they are hands down playing the best ball right now. It really doesn’t pay to be playing the best ball of the season this early. I just wish We’d show a little more fire at times and not play hard for the final 5 minutes only. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think Nova will mop the floor with us. I hope they don’t forsure and having a whole week to prepare is nice. We shall see.
That game tying drive with the insane pass to Hill maybe have just moved him to the favorite for MVP. The Chiefs still worry me with there play, enough that I can see them losing in the playoffs once again.
I think it’s makes the already huge target on our backs just a bit bigger. Seems like we play worse when there is a little 1 next to our name.

This team has struggled at the line so far this season now shooting less than 65% from the stripe. Shooting in general really plagued this game shooting that bad from all 3 areas coupled with being out rebounded and turning it over 13 times, we look pretty lucky to have won. Without Doke it’s shocking that we were that bad lol. They are kicking themselves over free throws as well, they were shooting 70% coming into this game. If they could’ve repeated that, they likely would’ve won. I liked the officiating tho, not a ton of whistles.
@JayHawkFanToo I’ve questioned it myself on several occasions. Starting in 02 when they were beating KU by 60 and put back in there starters on Defense as soon as KU crossed mid field late in the fourth (they had already lost 3 games and weren’t trying to get BCS votes ether). I’ve never hoped for a player on any team to get hurt but I would’ve laughed if one of their starters got hurt then. Seemed pretty classless to me and I believe it was last year one transferring player went public about he was like a slave owner and was blocking him from transferring. I have a friend of a friends son that grew up a KSU fan and transferred up from Juco a couple of years back. He said Snyder played favorites like crazy, was a complete a**hole and transfered to Tabor for his senior year. He and his family are no longer KSU fans lol. The way he was holding the university hostage I questioned if he would actually retire. One thing to consider when hiring a new coach is that Synder is still in the athletic department and will probably interfere with the next guy if he doesn’t see the things that are going on as good (Ron Prince who went 7-6, 5–7, 5-7 and recruited several starters including Klein on the 2012 B12 title team after Snyder went 4-8 and 5-7 in final 2 seasons).
@BShark I don’t thinks it’s the flukiest top 5 maybe, KSU really only had to play UK to that point and really should’ve made the final four. George Mason and VCU were flukiest. VCU is probably number 1 because no one even had them in the tournament to start with.

Man that was ugly, I dont know why we keep struggling with these Mid Majors but a lot of is effort IMO. We got up 10 the first 3 minutes then they out hustled us for the next 27 minutes. That is a recipe to go home the first weekend.
