Tech could be our biggest competition in the B12 again this season. They guard as well as anyone in the country but they will struggle to score at times as they did down the stretch last night vs Dook.
UGH, this was my first loss witnessed live in the Field House. We were so slow to rotate defensively and not having a bench killed us, I think their bench scored like 20 point while ours score 2 or something like that. Tra Holder was far and away the best player on the court that day, I remember he had 29 points. At one point in that game I believe they were like 12 for 17 shooting 3s and finished at 50% from there. I think we got rattled when they started hitting everything they could throw up and Svi started throwing up ill advised 3s. Not very often to we score 85 and lose at home, I really think they played one of their best games of the year that day and we were average. This years club for ASU doesn't have Holder, Justice or near as good of shooters as last season. It will be an interesting match up. They will run the same stuff and try to spread us out on the perimeter. Our Guards will have to be discipline and not over help or let guys drive on them or it could be another long game. They are super balanced obviously with 4 guys averaging in double figures. I like Garrett on Dort, I think we has the size and quickness to frustrate him.
Well duh, The rankings of classes are set on 2 things, number of stars next to the name and number of names signed. As the article says they have a higher average player rating than several ahead of them, they just dont have the same number of recruits. When you can only sign 15 guys (currently 10 ) and other schools are signing 20-25, even if you had all guys rated at 4 and 5 stars it would still be a middle of the pack class. It's just a article to take a jab at Miles, no common sense was used in writing it.
I would say Grimes would have the single greatest turn around mid season in the history of athletics to leave via NBA. But who knows Selby left to get picked late in the second round.
Buffalo goes into the Carrier Dome and lights up Syracuse in the second half, winning 71-59. Everyone’s talking about Nevada going unbeaten this season, Buffalo has Marquette on the road Friday and if they get past them, they may be in that conversation before too long.
@dylans I think Penny let it get into his head a bit too much. I laughed at his “he said something back protecting himself” comment. Let’s be real a lot of guys talk trash and his player came right up to the Tennessee players face to start the whole thing, As Samuel L. Jackson says as Coach Carter when his team claims the other team was talking “So what? You can’t show some class and act like champions?”. His team already looks like they lack a ton of discipline and he seems to be on a slippery slope with that. On a side note who talks trash after a teammate hits a 3 to cut the deficit to 10 with less than a minute to go? What a dipstick lmao.

@approxinfinity hard to read into these type games we knew we would win playing lousy as we did for about 32 minutes. I was definitely glad to see us wake up there for sure tho.
Bowen will stay and coach the safeties and Hull will return to coach RBs. I have no problem with Bowen coaching the safeties, he has done good with the DBs in general in the past and gotten several guys to the next level. I think he was popular with the alumni and has done a good job recruiting. Obviously we all figured Hull was staying and I’m happy he is back. Idk whom it was (and I’m too lazy to look it up lol) that was giving me jazz when I said my sources were saying they both were staying and that I was wrong (usually my sources are right), enjoy crow lol.
Nice to see Charlie and David get going there. I think Self ran with some odd line ups at times to get both K.J. and David is kinda why we struggled so hard at certain points. I really hoped Q would get going tonight tho it didn’t happen. He honestly doesn’t look athletic enough to play guard at this level so far, I think he has to be hitting 3s to be effective (MSU game). If he can’t by ND guards, he’ll struggle getting bye most in the B12.
Oh and great half by Mitch, I said he should play more. He’s our leading rebounder and scorer thus far.
Just need to actually run some offense in the second half. Too many quick shots, I think the only reason they got 27 was because Self left David out there and his guy scored 10 on him (which is fine, he needs PT). Just clean up some switching issue on defense and take/make good shots, 30 point win.

@BeddieKU23 Houston is a solid club, I watched them lose to Michigan after KU played last season in the round of 32. They returned a few of those guys, that Rob Gray kid they had last season was impressive. The only reason Michigan had a chance was Houston missed 3 of their last 4 FTs.
@KirkIsMyHinrich I think that is exactly what Self is doing, letting him play tho he isn't playing well and thinking he will progress and wake the heck up one of these days.
My Deal has always been if they can only prove he got $2200 for online classes and has shown he has paid it back, he should have sat out enough games either last season or by missing these next 2 before Xmas, especially if look at a similar situation as the Selby one.
@KUSTEVE That maybe the best thing to do but as @Crimsonorblue22 Says that may kill Grimes confidence, but he can't keep starting all year if it doesn't pay.
He has been sensational on the defensive end of the floor, he gets his hands on the ball so many times thru out the game. I think he just needs to look to drive the ball more, which isn't easy because the jury is out on sagging off of him and making him shoot jumpers. I don't think he'll ever be a good shooter but I bet he improves to serviceable. It's also early in the season and he could be better, just hasn't shown it yet. If I were Self, I'd tell him to keep shooting the open ones. If he can get a couple to fall, it will open things up in the middle.
Last Years team wasn't anywhere near this good defensively, I went to the Arizona State game unfortunately and witnessed my first loss in AFH. As stated it was all on Graham and Svi much of the season with Vick being good at times and Newman really just hanging out til march rolled around. Maybe Grimes can be this years Newman? Grimes has more of an excuse than Newman being a freshman but him progressing will be a huge factor in how far we can grow as a team. I feel like Dotson is playing great ball at this point of the season, Grimes has been a complete ghost outside of 2 games. Doke being back will help on the defensive side of the ball just because opposing teams know he'll be waiting in paint for them, even if he fouls them lmao. We have a tough schedule and keep winning games so its hard to get real frustrated at this point. I will this team is stating to remind me of the 05 team that started out 20-1, then limped to a first exit (W/O Langford albeit).
@jayballer73 people are just bit**ing to do it, unfortunately all fans bases have those guys. I thought we’d be lucky to get a few 4 stars with this class. If that doesn’t happen then so be it, as you said it’s plenty late in the game and most guys will probably sign here in the early session. The most important thing is to fill up all 15 spots we can with the most talented guys we can get. I don’t like seeing a high number of jucos but we have to get what we can at this point. Next years recruiting class will the one that Miles should be judged off of. If we can win 4 ( MM was the last coach to win more than 3 in 2009) or more games, that would be huge to show guys how fast he can turn this around with the right talent.
@BShark Our top 3 receivers in Booker, Johnson and Sims all graduated so not a huge surprise.

@BShark I dont think there's really even a debate that Self is better. Wright has the same amount of FFs and one more NC. That's with recruiting classes rated way higher than Self. The question is now can Wright keep Nova at the elite status they currently are.

Charlie and KJ did nothing but take up minutes that half. They combined for 3 rebounds, 2 points and 3 TOs in probably 25 minutes.
Last 2 minutes were some of the worst defensive I've seen in over 40 years.
What heck happened to our defense? Had every chance to be up 10 plus, wake up.
The offense doesn't look near as good without Dotson on the floor.
