Iâm excited to see how Willis does, I believe he should be starting at KU right now.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Les Miles has had several QBs similar to Bryant.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I bet he would consider KU if Les Miles came.
I hope to watch it on the ESPN + app. I donât know if itâs just me but I donât get that excited for Late night because we still have a month before the exhibition games and longer it the season starts with Michigan State on Nov. 6.
@JayHawkFanToo haha my bad, KU hasnât been paying anyone but Beaty for quite sometime, Gill was due his immediately after firing, we paid Weis for a couple of seasons. Also Beaty is the lowest paid coach in the B12 and KU gets the same share of cash as KSU from the conference. Add that into paying Snyder double what Beaty gets I highly doubt they are raking in that much more than KU in football.
@Kcmatt7 I would think that I have a better shot at winning the lottery than KSU does at Venables. He not only makes as much as Snyder does being an assistant but his buy out is massive. KSU just wants to be profitable in athletics. They are not going to spend a ton of money for a sexy hire in any sport. If Snyder leaves in the next few years and KU gets a decent coach, KSU is headed back to basement. Most of the KSU fans I know are ready for a change and want to try to get to the next level. Let's be honest KSU wins of its games at home against teams a P5 team should beat. They have pulled some upsets but Snyder hasn't been near as good in his second tenure outside of 2012, part of which is playing all the B12 teams every season and not 3 or 4 cupcakes to start. Think about how weak the north was for years after Nebraska started to trend down, an average P5 team would've won 8 or 9 games. The question becomes does KSU pull the trigger? Snyder doesn't want to retire unless his son is named the coach, he just signed an extension. Can you force him to retire? Could you fire a guy that has been the only success at a failing program that your stadium is named after?
@Texas-Hawk-10 we will see lol
Also Liberty is in their first season as an FBS team but they beat Baylor last year and blew the doors of off Old Dominion who just beat Va Tech. Liberty lacks coaching to ever be anything in FBS but I bet they can win 3 games this season. Which isnât that bad when you are moving up a level in competition.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I think they could beat us, Baylor, KSU and ISU. They would have to pull an upset to get the next win but with how inconsistent Texas, OSU and Tech appear to be I think they could get one between those 3. We can argue about it all day but we really have no way of knowing because they wonât play. The question I have with Army is Duke really that good to kick their butts but you also have to figure itâs tough to go on the road against a veteran team right outta the gates. I agree that Armys schedule isnât great outside of OU and Duke, with that being said Iâd be shocked if they didnât win 9 or 10 this season including a bowl.
@Texas-Hawk-10 @Kcmatt7 I Donât disagree that it would be boring but KSU averages 8 wins a year by running the ball most the time and controlling the clock, a different style of run of coarse. Also Army is 2-2 with road losses at 4-0 Duke and 4-0 Oklahoma. This Army isnât great but Iâd bet they could go .500 in the B12 this season and they win 8 or 9 games.
@JayHawkFanToo I think Beaty gets The whole season, they wouldâve fired him at the Nicholls game if that want the case.
What about Monken at Army? Gave OU all they wanted in Norman.
@justanotherfan I love that Nebraska is a dumpster fire, they fire Frank Solitch and Bo Pelinie who both averaged more than 9 wins a year. Then hired a guy like Mike Riley who had donât nothing at Oregon State, their administration is foolish as can be.
Crazy to see some of the games today 0-3 Ole Dominion over VT, 0-3 Purdue over BC, Kentucky spanking Mississippi State, Tech smoking Ok State in Stillwater and Texas having little trouble with TCU. Looks like WVU and OU, who nearly blew it against army are the B12s only playoffs hopes just 4 weeks in.
@jayballer73 it was shocking to see tech come in to Stillwater and beat the brakes of off Okie state like that.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I said you could put on ether and never said I agreed with the play called. I seldom agree with the play calls of this staff.
@Texas-Hawk-10 thatâs all Iâm saying is run past the marker there, I donât think anyone is impressed with our playing calling since MM left. I just fell you were attacking me and then agreeing with me, which you are lol. Maybe we both just frustrated at the game, usually we agree.
I think the defense proved today that they are without question better than last year, they gave up a good chunk of yards but only let up 26 points. 17 of which were short fields for Baylorâs offense. As I said on the game thread if you only let 26 on the road in this conference, you should have a chance to win unless your offense sucks.
I guess you could say there is progress, pretty much the same team and personal that we lost to in Lawrence by 30 last year. It really all starts with the oline and there lack of protection coupled with numerous penalties.
@BShark Willis was the best QB we had In the Beaty era IMO
@stoptheflop yep and most of them on offense.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I donât care if it was the coaching that told him to do that or him it was stupid, as the the announcer even said. You know the guy that played in NFL, that said he shouldâve ran the route further, guess he donât know shit about football.
Texas Hawk 10 said:
@kjayhawks You rarely see KU receivers run routes past the sticks in those situations, that's poor coaching and poor play design.
Iâm not disagreeing the play wasnât right looks to me like you clearly stated the WR doesnât go passed the sticks so which is it? Do you even what your saying buddy?
@JayHawkFanToo If you told me we let up less than 30 on the road in this conference, if it holds up. Iâd be happy every week, the offense has been the big issue today.
The defense hasnât done terrible thus far, getting shorts fields was a big key in the first.
@Texas-Hawk-10 you been chirping at me for saying he didnât run the route far enough WTF is your point then?
@Texas-Hawk-10 if you donât coach your kid to get to the sticks before he turns, Iâm glad you donât coach around here. Iâd be running in practice for that.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I played WR, you have to know where the sticks are period
@Texas-Hawk-10 on the WR for not running the route 2 yards deeper
Sims caught a pass!!!!!
Penalties starting to add up here, no discipline
Sims needs to ride pine, catch the GD ball
At least KSUCK is getting hammered too lol
@Texas-Hawk-10 ya a scoop and score there gives us some light, as bad as we played it could be worse. I feel like a 6 plays make it a 23-0 from what could be a close 17-10 game. It only gonna get worse tho, we canât get new linemen at half time, just hope we can score and keep it under a 30 point loss.
This is the KU football we all have come to expect, both lines getting beat like they stole something
I hate to say but I 100% agree that Wigs flatout doesnât play hard most of the time. I wouldnât say heâs only one, thats part of the reason the nba sucks these days. They got their big contracts why go hard? NBA in the 80s and 90s was light years better, Iâm lucky I am just old enough to have watched guys like Bird, Jordan, Magic and others go out there to battle. Basketball wasnât soft back then, guys didnât get Techs for yelling, they got them for throw downs.
I agree with @justanotherfan, Baylor is a must win on all fronts if Beaty wants to stay. I wouldnât put as big as an emphasis on this game if we wouldâve d beat Nicholls. That game still ticks me off and hereâs the sad part they have gotten beat by twice by double digits since winning in Lawrence. They ainât that good, we just werenât ready to play. If we played them again Saturday weâd win by 20 IMO.
@KUSTEVE I wouldnât say I was ever high on Coach K but his lack of discipline for this kid made me lose the little respect I had for him. I still think the kid has mental issues, who throws a fit because they tripped someone on purpose? He must have never played on the playground growing up. Thatâll get a guys ass kick real quick with the guys I played with.
@BShark I find your lack of contribution rather disturbing lol
@wissox Itâs all about ratings and race is ratings right now. In December 2017 a gal I go to church with son was killed by police, which obviously is a very hot topic the last several years. I never seen it mentioned on any news outlet local or national, why didnât I? Simple he was white, that doesnât get the debates fired up. Being murdered by some one that isnât an illegal alien isnât going to get as many people going. I believe every murder means something to someone, everyone has some family or friends regardless what they look like, their race or anything else but thatâs what sells stories now. We live in a world where celebrities tell us that we are bad for not using alternative fuels, while they fly planes all over the world in private jets and have yachts, pollute 10 times as much as me driving 7 Miles to everyday with my non electric truck (Looking at you Leo DiCaprio). They are all for saving wildlife while wearing perfumes, makeup and clothes most made from the animals they say they are about protecting.
Maybe Beaty is playing mind games, Start Bender for one series then boom Kendrick lol
@justanotherfan I agree tho there are some teams that are really good against the run and may warrant Bender going in for a few series if Kendrick isnât successful.
Miles Kendrick played the majority of the snaps in the second half, pretty much the snaps that mattered. Bender played most of the first and has started all 3 games thus far. So the question is who starts Saturday at Baylor? I can see pro and con to both players, it could even be situational from the stand point if the run game is working you go with Kendrick, Baylor has struggled to stop the run so far this season. So that could bode well for him this weekend. I donât think Bender has a crazy good arm but he hasnât thrown a pick yet this season and is completing just over 60% of his passes. We all saw to the two open receivers that he missed in the end zone against Rutgers but Kendrick hasnt really thrown the ball enough yet to get a good read on his arm. He got away with some risky throws Saturday that had pick 6 writen all over them in this conference. Obviously Kendrick gives you a better RPO game and can run the ball effectively at times, tho to me he tryâs to run laterally way too much and he doesnât have the speed to get to the edge against D1 guys. I personally believe Bender to be the safest option at this point, most of the long runs in the second half didnât even look like a zone read, they were simple hand offs outside of Kendrickâs TD run. Bender also has started the last 2 wins so you have if itâs not broke donât fix it type deal, you donât see a QB benched after 2 wins and no interceptions very often. Iâm a little worried that if Kendrick is given the nod we could see several INTs and thatâs not abnormal for a first year guy but I also think that Baylor is a winnable game for us so if he does end up being more turnover prone, it could prove very costly. That being said I donât think Iâll complain regardless whomever starts, Iâm just hoping we can keep it rolling.
@Kcmatt7 Iâm trying to figure out if Fitzpatrick sold his soul to the devil or what, he looks great so far.
@JayHawkFanToo Turner Gill was turned down by Nebraska and Auburn for a reason, he publicly claimed it was because of his color but he had one winning season at buffalo. His absurd contract was even more proof of sweet Lou trying to destroy everything once he knew he was going down. @Texas-Hawk-10 I agree that if Gill had stayed, the program wouldnât have been as bad as it is currently or what it was when Beaty came in. Gill had several games that we played well in the first half. I was thinking we shouldâve made him be stricter on the players academicly and physically, hire a new DC and strength coach, then seen how year 3 was.
@BShark slowly step away from the computer lmao. I was fairly impressed today, maybe my 5 wins prediction was off, but the defense is awful. They will have to outscore everybody they play.
TCU is imploding after leading by 8 early in the second
@Texas-Hawk-10 Kansas won 1 game last year
The B10 has taken it on the chin today, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Nebraska, Maryland and Illinois all got beat. Purdue shockingly is up on Mizzou early but I doubt it lasts.
So does Texas or TCU have a chance to get the B12 another big win after OSU took care of Boise State? Iâm betting both are blow outs in favor of USC and Ohio State.
