This is insane folks, it’s hard to hit 16 3s as a team passing the ball around in practice in an empty gym. Just not our night, these guys already made it farther than there talent level imo.

@DCHawker you cant prepare for a team shooting like that, no college team would be close if they shoot like that. The record is 13 3s made in a final four game, they have 12 with 3 minutes left in the first.

Let’s sleep walk thru the first 8 minutes, then wake up. We are in a helleva hole even at 11, must be down to less than 8 at the half or it’s over.

This maybe a replay of the bashing Nova gave OU a few years ago, must wake up or we’ll be down 20 at the half with no chance.

Why are we not even trying to get on shooters, wake up. You can’t switch on this team, they’ll burn you all night long, everyone has to keep their man in front to prevent help from being needed.

@Eric-san idk if we would have a guy to guard him on the perimeter, but let’s win first.

Michigan’s playing foolish, settle for 3 after 3 when Loyola has not one that can guard Wagner. That or maybe Loyola is actually on a mission from god. No 11 seed has made it past this game...ever.

@jayballer73 Will find out alotta about Marsha the next few seasons, not that he didn’t build the place up a bit from Turg but I think he got pretty lucky with a few guys, it will be interesting. I believe we are +1 in terms of Scholarships to players currently with whom we have signed. I’d bet cold hard cash at least Newman is gone and Vick just may go to. My inside sources said months ago Newman was forsure gonna go before his recent up tick, someone will draft him and take chance with his scoring capability.

Opening day is boring, players jogging about in half full at best stadiums. Shorten the season, it don’t take a 162 games to figure out who the best teams are. The first few months of baseball is the worst sport to watch IMO. This may ruffle a few feathers lol.

@JayHawkFanToo I’ll agree that different eras are hard to gauge but Owens flatout was not spectacular, those last 6 years stank.

@jayballer73 I agree, Ted Owens was a decent coach but couldn’t win with guys like Jojo and Valentine. The last 6 seasons Owens was here we not only didn’t win the big 8 we had losing records in conference 4 of those 6 seasons. @JayHawkFanToo lol Sutton’s win percentage was 63% compared to Owens’s 63.9%, pretty even but Sutton’s overall win percentage is 71% compared to 65% for Owens. Sutton is also known as one of the best coaches to never win a title, he had a God’s plenty of talent to do so at both UK and OSU. Ted Owens and Dick Harp are by all accounts good people and coaches, they just flatout had too much talent to not bring home a NC IMO.

Obviously we are all geared up for Saturday’s prime time Villanova match up (its only Wednesday 😒). But how does everyone see the early game shaking out between Michigan and Loyola? It actually crazy to me thinking about 2 weeks ago was at intrust watching KU hang on against Seton Hall and then I watched Michigan hit a magic shot to advance. Im fairly shocked to see both teams still alive in a way. If we are able to advance I honestly would rather play Michigan if I was honest. Loyola’s ball movement and defense have been great this tournament, plus they have the least amount of pressure of any team still playing. Michigan had tons of trouble trying to keep Gray of Houston outta paint in Wichita and if his teammates could’ve been decent from the line they would’ve won. Michigan has some shooters forsure but I think I’d bet on Loyola if I was a betting man.

This is why people outside of the east coast hate ESPN, FF week that Dook isn’t in, yet here they are all over the ESPN MBB home page like they already won the title next season.

It honestly looks like a good call in that picture, looks like Newman is baring touching him and he’s already flopping.

@jayballer73 I don't blame them for no autographs, they would've left 2 hours late had they done that. They sign autographs after every home for hours sometimes, which can't be fun after you just played a game. Yes, I met Doke last year, I'm 6'2 220 but he makes me look like a grade schooler, his hands are so big I bet he could move me like a pawn in a chest game lol.

@KUSTEVE I'll agree to disagree how a team Dominates anything offensively shooting like that and scoring 71 points, 29 of those points came at the line and 6 or 8 came in the final minute and a half with Tech fouling to extend the game. You have to shoot well to dominate the game offensively, open looks mean nothing if you can't hit them.

@KUSTEVE Nova shot terrible against Tech's man defense, the only reason they won was because they had 20 offensive rebounds. Not sure how shooting 33% from the floor and 17% from 3 classifies has shredding anything. I think a zone could work for stretches but they could easily shoot us outta it.

This game comes down to offensive rebounding and 3 point shooting %/ 3 point defense. Both teams play a similar style of drive and kick to open shooters. Surprisingly they shot terrible against Tech from 3 (17%) but still won because they played great defense and limited their second chance points. Nova's defense does scare me a bit if I'm being honest, they shut down Perry a few years ago but we have a much bigger and stronger big in Doke. I'm not sure anyone can guard Doke within 3 feet of the basket, him getting looks early and often as well as staying outta foul trouble will be big factors. If I'm them I try to foul out Doke and hope we aren't hitting from outside.

Lol Clay helped us beat SU but come on. I'm mixed on Sam because Self has stated since the beginning he was a project so I'd assume he knew he wasn't gonna get a boat load of PT his first couple of years.

Did you guys see how emotional Self was in the locker room after the game? It really showed how much he wanted these guys to finally get over that hump to the final four.

Nice week for us Kansans as NASCAR driver and Emporia native Clint Bowyer was able to win the postponed nascar race today. Oddly enough Bowyers last win came the last time KU made the final four. Bowyer himself is a KU fan and claimed they tested his heart Sunday evening with the win over Duke. In his post race press conference he lobbied his wife to go to San Antonio and keep not only his but the Jayhawk momentum going, but was unfortunately shot down lol. I thought it was a cool story, I actually have met Clint several times and he’s a pretty cool dude.

With the events in overtime as Malik Newman was able to score every point for KU in out scoring Dook 13-9. The NCAA has officially changed the name of Overtime to Malik Newman time.

After the OSU loss at home, I said it could be fixed by making the final four because no one would be talking about it. I forgot already after typing this.

Maybe Self can coach the first half of the season and see where it goes lol

Well everyone talks of how we choke, Dook has 3 straight #1 recruiting classes with 1 elite 8.

Hey my keys were simple rebound and defend above average while shooting at least average. I think we did 2 outta 3 pretty well. I honestly thought we were done after missing 3 straight open 3s in row there. Amazing heart shown bye the guys, they found a way.

Svi didn’t have a single board against Clemson, got his first double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds to go with a OT forcing trey, how about Vick’s second half Just a great team effort. Damn I’m pumped
