@Kcmatt7 I would be shocked if he doesnt play ahead of Mitch, like De Sousa did late in the season. He already looks bigger, stronger and more athletic.

Draft Declarations Thread • Apr 06, 2018 04:34 PM

@Kcmatt7 You forgot about McCormack, bet Mitch red shirts

Sorry about the outage last hour • Apr 06, 2018 04:04 PM

What heck type of fly by night operation is this lol

Who ya got? • Apr 06, 2018 01:52 AM

Lol I actually still have NBA Jam in SNES in my basement, I’ll take the snipers on NBA Jam all day, the Dogs a close second.

@DanR His real name is Nighthawk šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Draft Declarations Thread • Apr 05, 2018 01:49 AM

@nuleafjhawk It depends on the situation, my inside sources told me he’d be here one year with him already playing one at MSU and sitting out a year. I’m not mad at any of the guys for leaving early, the purpose of college is to prepare yourself for your profession. If a kid is projected in the first round, which means you get a contract for 3 years, I have no problem with that. It’s not the kids fault it’s a faulty system. Now the kids that leave like Josh Selby to get picked late second round, one could argue that pretty silly but hell not being drafted worked pretty well for Selden.

Joe Dooley Moving Up • Apr 05, 2018 01:44 AM

It’s definitely a move in the right direction for Joe, he’s had the best team in the Atlantic Sun conference pretty much every year but it’s a one bid league and he hasn’t always won the conference tournament. Moving to ECU and the AAC he has a good chance of getting to the dance with a top 4 finish. Hopefully he whips up on Marsha a few times. Oddly enough Coach Dooley has already coached at ECU before from 95-99. Trying to join coach Fambrough in being the only coach fired from the same university twice lol. Best of luck to him.

Draft Declarations Thread • Apr 05, 2018 01:33 AM

@nuleafjhawk Lol, no that’s not in my sarcasm font, I actually think he can be.

Matt Tait doing his weekly • Apr 05, 2018 12:04 AM

I like Matt, he’s a nice guy and I tend to agree with him most the time. I think this is spot on with what most of had said here recently. I still would be nothing short of completely shocked to see Doke not return next season, I wouldn’t be surprised if he test the waters to get insight. I think this is a huge offseason for Doke in terms of improvement, he had his wrist injury a year ago that probably hurt some of his delvelopment.

Let the dumb begin! • Apr 04, 2018 11:54 PM

@Gorilla72 Beat me too the punch lol, not that wainwright was a big contribution to the teams success. Still interesting that they knew about this incident in January but just let it go til he got arrested, I realize innocent til proven guilty but you figured he had to answer a few questions on the matter.

Jack Harry's grade for this year's team • Apr 04, 2018 11:47 PM

Jack Harry is noise, he has no credibility so much as I’m shocked ESPN hasn’t picked him up to hang with Medcalf. How do you give a team that wins both conference titles and a final four berth a B, WTF is winning the title a B+ or A-. They played 39 games, most you can is 40, they reached 3 of 4 goals every Kansas team has. A FF is an A season, National title is a A+.

Future NCAA Regional & Final 4 sites • Apr 04, 2018 11:39 PM

WSU whined because they didn’t get to play in Wichita, I explained to them a host school can’t play there. Then they whine about KU playing in KC and I explained since the B12 tournament is there, the conference hosts it. If they could get the AAC to play the conference tournament in Intrust they could play there. KSU could play in Wichita if they were good enough to get a top 4 seed, they ain’t gonna give a 9 seed home court advantage. @Kcmatt7 hit the nail on the head, it’s still a business anyway you wanna slice it, why else was OU in the tournament. It’s the same reason why the conference tournament is in KC every year, when it was in OKC or Dallas it never sold out. I honestly wonder if playing close to home sometimes puts more pressure on us, I think that’s why we lost to Oregon.

Draft Declarations Thread • Apr 04, 2018 11:23 PM

Best of luck to Malik, I think he can be a serviceable back up in the NBA.

Doke • Apr 03, 2018 11:45 PM

Doke = Shaq, completely useless outside of 5 feet from the hoop. I see no chance of him going to the nba at this point in time, true bigs have already gone to the wayside in the league.

Choir Boys No More • Apr 03, 2018 11:42 PM

I wouldn’t be surprised if Nova gave Jay a huge contract here within the next few months. He’s rated at just the 24th highest paid coach in the nation. Guys like Gregg Marshall (top 15 paid coach and maybe why he’ll never leave), Shaka Smart, Avery Johnson and Archie Miller all make millions more per year, none of which has a NC let alone 2.

Personally, I don't think there is an easy path. Villanova is on a helleva run @jaybate-1-0 are you saying a mid major has won the title 2 of 3 years? I don't consider the Big east or American to be mid majors, neither do most folks. I think both KU's and Nova's paths to the FF were very even in terms of difficulty. I'm just glad Nova was given the 1 seed they earned so someone like us in 2016 didn't have to face a top 5 team to get to the FF.

Michigan Actually Plays D • Apr 03, 2018 12:58 PM

Good job by Nova, they are simply the best team this year. Michigan played solid for much of the first half but Nova also missed several open shots that they didn't last week. Nova has won every post season game this year by at least 10 points, hard to dominate like that, they earned it.

@Crimsonorblue22 Brown is entering without an agent, absolutely no chance of Dean Wade ever making a NBA roster.

Unknown topic • Apr 02, 2018 08:44 PM

I've been telling all my friends the run is over in KC, 5 straight 80 win seasons and 7 straight at least 70 wins. They are headed back to the mid 90s or mid 00s where winning 60 games is surprising.

It too early for me to release my high anticipated Top 25 for 2018-19 lol. I agree @dylans How is KSU not ranked after being in the EE and finishing 4th in the conference while returning....everyone? I bet on my Top 25 having atleast 3 B12 teams in it.

Langford • Apr 02, 2018 08:35 PM

Agree with @SkinnyKansasDude Why would he wait til the end of the month if he has already decided on Vandy or IU. I'll my sources have said Malik is a one year guy here and he was great in the post season, even in the Nova game he had 21 and 8. I would be shocked if Vick doesn't atleast test the waters.

Why We Didn't Win -- Look Beyond Made Threes • Apr 02, 2018 08:17 PM

To add to why we didn't win beyond them hitting 3s, Sosinski had more points than Garrett and Lightfoot combined.

Last Five Seasons KU vs the "One-Trick Pony" • Apr 02, 2018 08:11 PM

No OADs in the FF this year...

Last Five Seasons KU vs the "One-Trick Pony" • Apr 02, 2018 06:13 PM

@BShark Which exactly why I'm not a fan of the OADs. Josh Jackson and Joel Embiid were the only OADs here that I thought actually cared about how we did. People say we are loaded next year, Self has not done good with loaded teams. Several of these guys could be OADs and I'm not counting chickens before they hatch. That's maybe biggest complaint for HCBS, he overachieved several times including this season but when it looked like we had everything going for us, we choked. 2011 was horrible, we had all the cards and a good road and blew it.

Last Five Seasons KU vs the "One-Trick Pony" • Apr 02, 2018 04:28 PM

Villanova has been the best team in the last 5 years, period. Anyone that doesn't think so is showing their lack of knowledge of the game. Whomever is evaluating talent for them is doing a great job (not that KU has been bad, 2 mid major guards did pretty salty), I don't know which recruits were rated what Saturday on the court but I know the guys in white had more talent and athletic ability but the guys in Blue usually have better recruiting classes. I think it was close in 2016 but they flatout had the better team this year. Really Dook did too, we just had a good game plan that worked.

Thank you Jayhawks • Apr 02, 2018 04:11 PM

@cragarhawk You Blew it!! by not going to SA.

Why We Didn't Win -- Look Beyond Made Threes • Apr 02, 2018 12:43 PM

@Fightsongwriter I Think we got too satisfied with being there and slept walked for the first 8 minutes. They got 22-4 early but once we settled in even with their hot shooting, they never really got us down more. That first wave won them the game. It's pretty normal normal to see some beat downs in the EE and FF, lots of teams are just happy to be there (we've been on both sides of them). I disagree that we laid a total egg vs Nova in 16, that was damn good game, now we did against Oregon last year and Nova Saturday.

Perspective: Bill Up Here, Jay Down There • Apr 01, 2018 09:34 PM

I love coach Self and job he’s done this year, really most years but Jay Wright is flatout a better coach. You talk win percentages but it’s not something I’d judge off of because Self inherited a team that was returning starters from Back to Back FFs. While Jay inherited left overs of a team that went 18-13 the year before. Bill has had more success in the regular season, Jay has been better in the post season and over all the past five years. All while spanking the daylights outta Bill Selfs teams multiple times. I have no idea how anyone could argue Self is better after last night.

Why We Didn't Win -- Look Beyond Made Threes • Apr 01, 2018 09:14 PM

@BShark I’m hoping we at least one guy that can stop the dribble drive, we have not had that in years IMO.

Happy it is Beilein or Wright • Apr 01, 2018 09:04 PM

I agree with @BShark, I think Belein maybe the best coach in CBB without an NC. I believe Jay Wright to be the best coach in CBB right now, has the best overall record in the last 5 years and probably gets his second national title in 3 years on Monday. Now he doesn’t have the best overall record but he has embraced small ball and will continue to dominate the sport until someone changes it.

Why We Didn't Win -- Look Beyond Made Threes • Apr 01, 2018 08:54 PM

@HighEliteMajor I agree for the most part, rewatched some of the game this morning. I’ve mentioned it several times the last few years and I believe it to be true, we do not have the athletes that we need to win in the NCAA tournament (outside of JJ and Mason). Before 2014 very seldom did I come into a games thinking the other team is just better than us in terms of athletic ability, since 2014 it’s almost every game vs power 5 comp. Whomever is evaluating these guys isn’t doing anywhere near as good as Villanova, our recruiting classes have been better more often than not but they look like they have more talent and athletic ability than us.

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 05:07 AM

How the hell did Xavier beat this team twice?

Time for a Defensive philosophy change • Apr 01, 2018 04:50 AM

He actually had shot it better here recently, thought he could’ve gotten one to go. If he can work on his shot he’ll be a dam good player in the near future.

Stats vs Nova • Apr 01, 2018 04:45 AM

@kuballin10 Yep I said that all week and at half time, but heck who would've figured they shoot like that especially in a dome....just not our day.

Graham's Statement • Apr 01, 2018 04:43 AM

Losing Frank and DevontĆ© have been super tough these last few years. Like when Collison and Hinrich left. Guys that people said couldn’t play here ended up being great players for 4 years. I throw Svi in there too, what a guy coming in at 16 to play D1 ball in a foreign country. These guys just don’t come around that often that stay outta trouble on and off the court and love the university. It’s the hardest thing about being a college fan, seeing these kids come in and leave as men. I’ll love all of our Jayhawks current and former but these types hurt the most.

Stats vs Nova • Apr 01, 2018 04:36 AM

@Bwag I disagree, the lack of our guards being able to stop the dribble drive was the difference IMO. They drove, we helped and then they kicked out for a 3. Most teams won’t have 6 guys hit multiple 3s in one game. If I’m playing against us defensively, I know that I can prob get help off of Vick’s, Garrett’s and Dokes man if needed most the time. Having an athletic big that can help and hit 3s like Paschall was huge. We had no one that could help defensively that didn’t leave a shooter open as stated 6 guys hit multiple 3s and a 7th hit one.

Time for a Defensive philosophy change • Apr 01, 2018 04:30 AM

They left Garrett open on purpose no doubt but I didn’t mind him trying to help get us back in, Malik missed a good look and Svi missed a shot at the rim with Garrett’s 2 3 points misses that would’ve cut it to 7 there with about 8 to go when actually got a few stops. What makes them hard to gaurd on night like tonight is they had 6 guys hit atleast 2 3s and a 7th hit one. Their starting 5 man went 4-5 from distance. No college team I’ve seen in recent memory was gonna beat Nova tonight, know our luck they be icey against Michigan like they were vs TT and lose. Which I’ll be pulling for Michigan anyway.

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 04:10 AM

@BigBad Assists comparison is irrelevant because of how much better they shot. DG set up Malik, Svi and Vick 2 times a piece for good open looks that were missed from 3, Garrett also missed 2 3s that were so open I could’ve at least drew iron. The team that shoots the best will have the most assists 9/10 times.

Stats vs Nova • Apr 01, 2018 04:04 AM

I and several others stated earlier in the week which team shot better from distance probably wins and that what happened. Some were open for them and some were guarded too. We definitely missed our far share of open looks from distance and that was the difference tonight.

              KU.........Nova

FGs 28-62 36-65

FG%. 45. 55

3 FG. 7-21 18-40

3%. 33 45

Fts. 16-20 5-7

REB. 33 33

Turns 9 10

We won in almost every statistical category besides shooting, now some of that is on our defense, but idc who you are it’s tough to 13-21 from 3 point land as team practicing in an empty gym.

Time for a Defensive philosophy change • Apr 01, 2018 03:55 AM

I said earlier in the week we shouldn’t help and switch everything because I’d rather make them hit tough 2s than open 3s. They flatout had more talent and athleticism than we did. It would’ve took a perfect game to win.

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 03:24 AM

The hate on Bill Self can stop immediately, do I think Jay Wright is a better coach? Maybe but Idc I’m proud of the job Self has done this season.

Banner Year! • Apr 01, 2018 03:20 AM

Obviously it didn’t end the way we wanted too, but only one team leaves truely happy after it’s all said and done. I’m so proud of these young men, they were doubted all year and played their asses off. I hope all of Jayhawk Nation can see what this team has accomplished and does nothing but show them the love they deserve. We got a few more banners to hang and some more trophies to add to our case, with a team that like doesn’t have a first draft pick. I’m damn proud to be a Jayhawk, Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Doke • Apr 01, 2018 03:16 AM

If he goes pro it would be the biggest shock I’ve ever heard of.

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 02:44 AM

Team just quit this half, not getting after rebounds, put in Clay and the subs.

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 02:42 AM

Sadly if we rebound and hit open shots this half, we are right there.

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 02:40 AM

Wtf was that DG, worst pass in history then a silly foul.... SMH

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 02:34 AM

Sadly is garret or Malik can those open 3s we are close to giving them pressure.

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 02:28 AM

Just start throwing up 3s let it fly.

Game Day Chat room • Apr 01, 2018 02:24 AM

Jay Wright is a better coach than Bill Self.
