KU's third home loss this season is on the ESPN front page on NCAAM and we are quickly becoming a laughing stock for toughest place to play SMH.
Washington upset Arizona late Saturday, they are playing there way into the NCAAs.
The chiefs had the winning QB on the bench all of last year but I guess one could say since they beat both this year that they didnât have the right path.
@Gunman I was in bed in my old age, shoot itâs past my bed time now lol, just saw it the next morning.
It wouldâve help Saturday if ours werenât up after midnight playing video games. I friends with several on Snapchat.
I guess I didnât really answer or reply much to the original post, yes I think we as fans myself included get a little too frustrated because we expect to win especially against a NIT team at home. I try not to personally insult coach or players, some on here not so much. The other side of the coin is, itâs that way everywhere. Go check out Dooks and UKs chat rooms from time to time. I feel like we arenât anywhere near as bad as them but the fact is if youâre gonna play D1 ball you better be tough enough to handle criticism.
The issue to me is more with they way our guys just donât seem to even try half the time. One of my inside sources that works at the university has told me that he has never seen a KU team less fired up to go play and just go thru the motions than this one. I think itâs just the nature of kids these days, this to me is 3 of 5 years (14,15,18) of guys just not wanting to give effort. I think some of the guys play hard but others donât. I wouldnât fire Self over lol, Marshall is experiencing the same thing now that his guys ainât playing against typewriter repair schools. Rebounding is one stat that not only every coach that I have played with or for as well as coach Self is a big factor in how hard a team played. This year Iâd say itâs a little different with how small we are, but rewatched most of yesterdayâs game and we had 3 or 4 guys just stand frozen repeatedly on the defensive glass. One thing I loved about Roy is he didnât used to put up with that, several times he pull all 5 guys and put in whomever for a minute or 2 to show guys that if they didnât bring it they wouldnât play. Gosh I wish Self would do this, Iâd rather lose by 30 and play hard, than lose by 5 because we only played hard for a few stretches.
i think the place was so much louder 10 years ago personally from being to at least 1 game every year. Too many folks on their phones and the place is quiet as a mouse fart if we get down early. The seat arrangement stinks but itâs been that way forever. I do wish some of the people sitting closer would actually get into the damn games. Ether way AFH has took a huge hit this year in toughness, and ticket sales are down in terms of last night over 1000 were still available. It used to be impossible to get tickets or very hard they day before a game. We could very easily lose 1or 2 more at home and put the sellout streak in jeopardy.
Today is the first time since 1969 that KU, UK and Dook have all lost in the same day to unranked teams. Nice win for Texas tho.
@Blown thatâs whatâs disheartening at this point, if we finished in Norman and showed up in the first today we would be in great absolutely great shape.
Muhaha looks like my plan is working, talk up OU then they lose.
@Texas-Hawk-10 idk if you are blind or havenât watched us play at home I have a ten times better chance to win the power ball than we do to hold serve at home.
Letâs hope the guys coming in have a competitive nature and want to win games.
@Blown we wonât beat TT, WVU or OU IMO all will be blowout loses for us.
Honestly I think OU ends up winning the B12 at this point. Trae Young is not only getting the hype but every foul call that a person could buy. Iâm watching the Texas ve OU game now as I did them vs Baylor. I stopped counting at 10 fouls that werenât fouls that went his way. Surprisingly none were shooting fouls in the first half here, dude is averaging over 12 foul shots per game in conference. The media is pushing hard for them to win it, it looks like Trae called his shot saying he would beat us and win the conference.
@jaybate-1.0 Off days are when you donât shoot well, this wasnât an off day. It was a stand around like bunch dead beats for over half the game. Effort has to be a constant, end of story. Self has not gotten these guys by in at this point. Sadly how could you not be fired up to a conference game at AFH at the 120th anniversary of KU basketball with tons of former players that left sick as a dog. Self said that is the least competitive rebounding in the first half that he has ever seen since being involved with basketball, which I said before he did and completely agree. I feel like throwing up everytime I think about how we canât play hard.
@Big-Clyde52 You answered you own question, this team has no heart, no pride or give a damn whatsoever.
Sad watching the UK., Mizzou game how much louder their fans are than ours SMH. AFH has fallen...
Iâm calling this team the lazies from here on out until they play hard. This loss is on lack of effort for 35 minutes. Thatâs absolutely disgusting to see on our home floor celebrating 120 years of basketball. This is probably the maddest Iâve ever been at a team. Lost because we just donât give a good GD to hustle after rebounds and loose balls.
@Big-Clyde52 Horses had nothing to do with today, we just didnât play hard period. Anyone that watched that game knows we made very little effort today. No ifs, ands or buts.
We ainât winning this conference, no way been saying all year we are just to lazy to compete for rebounds. OSU has several offensive rebound without hawks anywhere near them. Lazy thatâs the only word and itâs probably to nice for these guys.
I honestly think stats mean less nowadays than they ever have before. Shooting is such a huge part of the game and has been for the last several years. Until a someone can actuately predict when players will be hot or cold I donât bye into it. How many times has KU played against a team that had player hit 2 or 3 three point shots that hasnât all year. Hell Rico Gathers hit a fade away 3, first of career on us a couple of years ago. If a team is even athleticly they have a shot to win IMO.
One game at time friends, I believe after the TT loss they had us at less than 40% chance to win the league. We have built this slim lead half way thru, the last half we could give back rather quickly if we arenât focused and playin well. I do agree with @HighEliteMajor if we can win these next 2 at home, I think we will be 2 games up on just about everyone heading down the stretch.
Kinda pathetic WSU lost in a half arena and claim they get everyone's best shot lol. Imagine how bad teams wanna beat you when you have won the conference 13 straight times and playing in full arenas. They have to realize it ain't the valley, they can't sleep walk thru half of their games and still win. They still have to play Cinncy twice as well. I've always thought playing in typewriter maintenance league helped them a ton. They didn't have guys averaging over 30 minutes a game (because of blowouts) and got 10 days off before the dance to rest.
@Jayballer54 Have you heard the joke about the Drunk and the Grandfather clock? A man had just purchased a grandfather clock and was rolling it down the street, a drunk walking down the same street bums into him and the clock falls, breaking. The man yells âwatch where the hell you're going!â, the drunk replies âwhy donât you carry a watch, like everyone elseâ.
@dylans Itâs hard to come with just 10, I probably omitted several that arenât on my mind. I havenât seen that, maybe Iâll get a chance. Most of my movies these days are Disney with my little guy, I seldom get to sit and watch a movie. Iâm lucky to watch the hawk games lol.

@DanR People forget that the press can wear them down as well. I think theyâll work it out before play us again.
What a turnaround from Saturday for ISU, WVU needs to be pissed next week so they can beat OU
@bmensch1 haha agreed. We are 18-4 without him, wished he was playing but I think she got that my kids the next LeBron in her head a little too much. Hopefully he plays well and gets drafted. Jesus was dominate for sure but he made everyone play on WATER! đđ
I believe the Chiefs just setup themselves for a mass rebuild, I bet they donât sniff the playoffs next year. The defense is weak and old, needs completely revamped. They are gonna put a ton of weight on Mahomesâs shoulders. The Royals canât pay enough to keep most their players worth a darn and will return to the form of 90s and 00s. KSU fans have to realize that their athletic department only wants to be profitable and not elite, I think Weber is the perfect coach for them. He and the fan base always play the blame game after a loss, hell there just too dam good to lose on their on account in any sport. The best way to describe KSU is the anytime they achieve moderate success, they are a super power and feared by all. Hell of a bowl win this year against a team that finished with a losing record, fired its head coach, had its two best players out and played in a conference that went 1-7 in bowl games.
Edit: KU fans would be happy to have that bowl win but we donât claim to be a national power.
Drew hates KU gives OU with a win lol, it all seriousness Baylor didnât get any calls in that, OU shot 32 free throws, twice as many as Baylor but Lindsay bricked a 1 and 1 with 4 seconds left down bye one. I guess we ainât the only team that gave it away in Norman. On the other side if Young plays like that again they wonât lose many more, 44 points and shot it well, only took 19 shots but lived at the line.
@truehawk93 boy that is a battle Young is on fire but so is Lecomte
It odd hearing Fran talk good about us and the officiating for a change this year.
I forget who was asking but Svi is just 14 points from being a 1,000 point scorer and sets 7th in the all time 3 pointers made list with 201, DTG is 3rd with 251. Boschee is #1 with 338.
After another cold shooting night DTG now has the worst FG % on the team at .398.
This will be an interesting test I think, OSU gave Tech, Arkansas and WVU all they wanted for much of the game. They are just a few minutes from being 5-3 in conference. Carroll has been around for about a decade it seems and Shine is a good looking player and Solomon is a poor mans Wade type of player but hasnât hit the 3 ball to his ability to this point of the season. Iâve seen this story before, Iâm sure hit 3 or 4 on us lol.
@BShark haha I agree, he should be a first team all B12 guy.
@Barney I believe Sanders to be the GOAT at RB, Smith had several all pro linemen while Sanders was breaking tackles just to get back to the line of scrimmage.
It looked like a 2-3 zone for the most part to me, it can look confusing at times because the two outside guys on the bottom have a ton of ground to cover, so when guy caught the ball on the far wing or corner, DTG or Malik came over to trap or let the gunners as we called them get back to protect the hoop. Doke appeared to just stay in the middle for the most part along with Mitch. @MNJayhawk Drive way Legend, I like that lol.
Anyone have a link to squeaks post game presser?
@BShark I agree 100%
In all honesty if Weber can keep a couple of these guys from his usual transfer quota they return every single guy that played in tonightâs game but I believe in Bruce, at least one will jump ship lol.
Washington is actually still a top 50 rpi team and in the first 4 out currently. That may not end up being a terrible loss but ASU isnât looking so hot in the PAC 12 after beating KU, KSU and Xavier in the non conference.
Random thoughts from me, This team is so much better when Malik is playing well. Dude has been not only scoring but averaging 8 rebounds in his last 5 contests (he and DTG played all 40). Vick has played much better the last 2 games and is returning to form. That maybe the best defense we have played in a couple of years to be honest, some of it was they just flat missed shots but we wonât lose too many letting up less than 65 let alone 60. It was nice to see Doke get a couple of Fts to on a night where he was in foul trouble and didnât ever get going. DTG got a double double with 16 and 11. He lead the team very well tho his shot was off again (someone needs to lock him in his room to rest for about 3 and a half days lol). Svi did what he does bye hitting 3s and rebounded well. Silvio got a few minutes which is all we can do is give him a few when we can. Sam looked sped up but had 2 points, 2 rebounds and an assist in 6 minutes. Just nice to see him get on the floor. Garrett looked lost most of the time he was in there but hey freshman on the road do that at times. Mitch effected the game about much as a fella can without scoring, taking charges, blocking shots and getting offensive rebounds. Great chance here with that being a short trip to Manhattan and our next 2 at home to not only put some distance in the B12 race but get rested and better. These two games wonât be easy but if we could get a big win and sit a couple guys a few minutes late, it could pay big dividends.
Rebounding will be huge, I like our chances if we can win that battle.
