@stoptheflop It better improve for tonight, Svi i believe has guarded Wade the the last 3 games and let up over 20 everytime.
KU women dropped a close one in OT to the cats in the fieldhouse this evening 63-59. Its a huge game for KSU in terms of the NCAA tournament, their super weak non conference schedule did them no favors but they currently just barely in.
Iāll be honest Iām a little worried about this game. Especially with how tired DTG looks and his shooting the last few games. I could see us winning a tight one or them just smoking us. It seems thatās how the games go there for us.
@HighEliteMajor I agree, i said earlier this season, if Self can win the B12 with this team it maybe his best coaching job yet.
This is why the Royals will never stay competitive, with no cap in baseball and a small media market they wonāt have much left of the World Series starters before too long. Also one of the reason Iām not a huge baseball fan, could be worse tho the Yanks buy all the stars and canāt make the playoffs half the time anymore.
Someone politely call this mans mother and tell her to stop letting him use the internet from the basement and that cookies are too high cholesterol to be eating as meals.
It was @cragarhawk haha
Iāve been more puzzled by Selfs moves this year than ever (yes, Coach is a HOF guy and great but that doesnāt mean he doesnāt make mistakes or that everyone should always agree, for the homers). Todayās game for instance, we lead all but the opening few minutes and were up by double digits nearly the last 30 minutes of game clock. Why wasnāt Sam used at all? Why wasnāt DTG given a rest, tho he looks tired (shooting 6/30 in the last 2 games)? Why did Mitch get all of Dokes minutes in the second half after the T instead of Silvio getting some? Mitch had 1 foul and 1 rebound in 10 second half minutes and continues to give up offensive rebounds way too easy. Self also talked this week about how hard it would be to change Doke shooting motion from the line in 48 hrs. Yes I agree, but come on he was able to go from June on and played in Italy seems to me that would have been a pretty decent time to do so. It now is a weak link and I honestly donāt know if Mitch is ready to hit fts with the game on the line. He seems to have improved in that area while shooting 82% this season but only has shot 17 of them, both of which are an improvement from the 12 he shot a year ago only making 17% of them. I think we have to go small in those situations and hope the opposing team doesnāt go inside.
I actually get this question more than most being from a smaller community where you pretty much farm or work in the oil patch, a place thatās filled with KSU fans. As noted we didnāt have a ton growing up, we played outside most the time not having cable but the winters were long and back in them days you could watch a good chunk of KU games with bunny ears. I started watching in the mid 90s and have been a KU fan ever since. The first team I remember watching I believe to be the 96-97 team with Pierce, Vaugh, Raef and co. A ton of guys I went to school with back then loved KU basketball and switched to KSU later on but donāt admit it. I just grew up watching and never changed, I wouldnāt change just because KSU has an AG program. Seems kinda silly to me.
I think people confuse the big 12 being the best conference with it being the most competitive conference, which since itās been at 10 teams I believe to be fairly accurate.
The SEC gets its first win in the 5 year history of the challenge and in a year where arguably their best team in Auburn didnāt even play. Not looking good for the little 12 once again.
In his post game presser Kennedy said he told his guys to foul Doke in the last five minutes, said they didnāt do it hard enough to get the calls. Doke was also fouled on the floor posting up twice, they just werenāt shooting fouls.
I honestly think this kid has deep mental issues. I wouldnāt draft him if he was still available with the last pick.
The argument for the B12 being the best conference will take a hit regardless of if WVU can beat UK. The SEC is probably the 4th best conference. I hoped we would win the challenge as a conference but I care more about what happens in Lawrence to be honest.
@truehawk93 we have played better on the road than at home to this point. Even at OU we controlled about 25 minutes of the game and crapped it away at the line.
@truehawk93 KU shouldāve stomped ISU in AFH but didnāt, itās never easy on the road if youāre Kansas especially in Ames.
Tech with an early win against South Carolina, Baylor looking more and more like a NIT team falls to Florida. Bunch of tight games early as KSU battles Georgia, OU vs Bama and Texas vs Ole Miss.
@Blown I donāt think Iād give Doke too much lip if he didnāt want me around. Lol

I hope we donāt know this person. š¤¦āāļø
Haha well it wasnāt me or you Iām assuming lol
Ok @FarmerJayhawk weāLL see what the NBA officially lists him at when he goes buddy. No one said he isnāt good sized.
@FarmerJayhawk I wouldnāt trust that plus it says 6ā11 lol
@FarmerJayhawk really, Iād like to see that measurement. I agree with @cragarhawk Doke isnāt 7 foot tall. Cole was listed as 6ā11 but measured 6ā9 at the draft. Iād guess Doke is closer to 6ā9 than 7 foot.
Honestly if we lose the B12 I will look at this game as a big reason why, we usually don't lose close games. When we lose on he road its usually by 8 or 10 points. But to control the whole second half like that and give it away is a sick feeling. Some may disagree but I think monday in Manhattan is a must win now. I honestly feel like i could help Doke a ton from he line just by slowing him down and changing his form.
@DanR it looks really stupid when you have a player from Finland and New Zealand like they do.
Coach Self says 14 is too many, gifts OU with a win.
@Kcmatt7 Mitch shouldāve been put in late no question, but he gives up offensive rebounds like itās candy on Halloween.
Self was out coached, doesnāt happen often but itās a tough loss to take when you control the whole second half. We played not to lose the last 3 minutes. We scored 2 points in the stretch, we ran clock and shot contested 3s or threw it in to Doke who finished 1/7from the line. Graham just took too many shots when his wasnāt falling but in the end ig if heād just fired the 3 instead of passing to Doke maybe he wouldāve hit one or 2. This makes big Monday next week huge.
As much as i dislike Weber, KSU has looked really good the last 2 games and now has a legit shot at the conference title if we slip up. Next weeks game in Manhattan just got a lot bigger IMO. I do think with WVU losing it takes some of the pressure off of us tonight because we will leave with the lead regardless of the outcome.
@wrwlumpy He went 14/39 @ OSU and 8/21 @ KSU. I like our chances if he turns it over as bad as he did in those 2 games, 12 against KSU and 8 against OSU. Hes probably gonna get his points because heās gonna shoot it so much. But in their losses he averages a high number of turnovers. A rare mistake on your good scouting, the games @ 6.
@dylans Yep, one of the issues also is that the older quieter donors sit right up on the court.
We have all seen the stat across the bottom of the screen more often than weād like. Kansas hasnāt lost 3 games in AFH in a single season since 98-99. Now before we get to far I believe AFH the best home venue in all of sports, I love how much the place doesnāt change and a person could easily forget what era they are in from inside the Phog. I do think the fans need to be louder more often instead of on their phones for half the game if Iām being honest. But how much tougher is it on our team knowing they shouldnāt lose there? Does it put more pressure on this undermanned team knowing that, more so than a visiting team that is supposed to lose? Buddy Hield and Georges Niang said wanting to win in AFH was one of the reason they returned for senior years at their schools. Just something me and a friend had a conversation about and maybe an answer to why we have played better on the road so far in B12 play. We are actually averaging more scoring margin on the road so far this conference season. Just wondered whatās everyone elseās thoughts on the matter?
Duke and UK are really the only guys getting multiple top 15 guys year in and out. Oddly enough after we have had really good classes we havenāt gone anywhere in March.
Wayne Selden dropped a career high last night in a loss to the pelicans. Dude had 31 points off of 11/16, 5/7 from 3 all in 27 minutes. With Chalmers and Harrison injured Wayne should be getting more minutes.
He shoots it so hard he should just try to bank it everytime, that and with how flat his shot is, banking is probably a better percentage. Heck heās banked in like half of them anyway lol.
@Jayballer54 I agree, Young is going to have to learn to use his teammates more. I thought he took so many ill advised shots yesterday when Latin had his man sealed for a dunk or lob. I read some folks complaining about some of the fouls DTG and Newman got yesterday, Young gets every call you could imagine around the hoop. He had one play where he fumbled it away and OSU took it without touching him but a foul was called. He lives at the line. If he doesnāt start playing thru other guys he may cause them to quit on him, you can get away with it awhile when winning games but a guy shooting it 39 times and only making 14 not gonna fly.
I think a KU, WSU match up would be a good game this year. Iād take any of our starting guards over CF and Morris is solid but hasnāt really had to face a guy like Doke to this point. I gotta lotta hate on here for saying WSU would beat us in 2015, so much that I started a new account a few months later lol. But shouldnāt they have beaten us? They had all Juniors and Seniors that not only had tons more tournament experience but arguably 2 of the best players in WSU history. Now WSU is finding out even in a conference thatās probably the 5th-7th ranked it isnāt easy winning everynight. All the WSU fans were talking about how they got SMUs best shot what not and I was like try being KU, you donāt think every coach and player in the B12 is tired of hearing about 13 straight and wants to beat KU?
@BShark I would agree that this team isnāt as good rebounding as that team without a doubt but Iām not sure that team was an A++ defensive team. EJ wasnāt a great defender IMO and as you mentioned Teahan sure as hell was not.
@BShark hey this team got big stops at the end in the last 2 Saturdayās, it may have had something to do with play callling and or execution but hey a stop is a stop. We also played pretty good tonight and Monday just gave up too many offensive rebound shots IMO, the defense has improved quiet a bit since the Tech game even.
@HighEliteMajor yep, the only other team I can remember feeling this way about was the 2012 team. They have a lot of the same characteristics as this one in terms of playing with anyone but also couldāve lost to anyone. That team also couldnāt hold leads to save their lives. Honestly I think the 2014 (after Embiid was hurt) and 15 teams were the one that I was sure that wouldn't do much in March maybe 06 because we were so youthful. This team could get hot and stomp some really good teams anywhere as you said.
@Crimsonorblue22 Malik averages 4.5 rebounds a game but in his big scoring games heās had 7 or 8 like he did tonight and against ISU. Yes, Vick just isnāt aggressive enough on both ends really, heāll figured it out tho. It just wasnāt Sviās night in several areas, this game and Washington are the only 2 games where he hasnāt scored in double figures and only the 3rd game that he hasnāt atleast hit 2 threes this season, his game doesnāt worry me much.
My first thoughts are on Malik taking over late and saving us. He had a solid outing with 24, 7 and 2. Is it just me or does he seem to play so much better when heās rebounding well, makes sense because rebounding is a hustle stat but great game fella. Grahamās jumper was off for much of the night but managed to score 15 while leading the team in assits and rebounds. Vick and Svi were pretty much non factors outside of a couple of plays. Svi was probably due for a bad game and Iām not sure whatās up with Vick, he just seems too passive on offense. You are plenty capable of scoring my friend. I really didnāt think Doke played well tonight obviously he had his monster dunks which is a given but he struggled mightily boxing out on the defensive end and his ft shooting will cost us a game if he canāt at least hit half of them. Garrett is in the same boat, most guards donāt shoot at 50% from the line like he is on the year. I love the kid and heās always going hard but offensively heās just flat out hard to watch. Someone mentioned that is pretty much a TO when he shoots it and itās tough to disagree shooting 41% from the floor, 18% from 3 and 50% from the line. Silvio and Mitch came in ate up some minutes and fouls, outside of a Mitch block youād never know they hit the floor. Surprised we didnāt see Sam with how Vick, Svi and Garrett all played tonight, he must not be practicing to well at this point. Iām worried that with us not being able to hold double digit second half leads we will get worn down before too long. Graham played all 40 minutes, sat for about 13 seconds of game clock and all other starters r had at least 31 minutes in a game that we shouldāve won bye 15-20. But a win always feels so much better than the alternative.
Everyone remember to respect Billy please and letās not hound the young man best of luck Billy!
I figured heād get cleared before the end of this month or be gone. Why waste time going to school and have limited practices. I personally think there is more to the story than the car.
Haha I love Joel, heās such a star on and off the court.
Iāve changed my all time starting 5 again now it goes Mason, White, Pierce, Manning and Wilt. Final answer Regis.
Now sheāll expect something bigger the next time youāre in the dog house. Donāt set yourself up to fail haha. @Crimsonorblue22 wins the day with that comment, @DanR gets a close runner up.
I like huggy personally. I think he is very intense but loves his guys and they love him. I have a very similar coaching style, I was pressing before press Virginia was cool lol.
JoJo lead the 76ers to a W tonight in the TD Garden over the Celtics. He only lead the team in points (26), rebounds (16), assists (6) and blocks (2). He also was named a starter for the all star game. Marcus had 14 and 6 but the team was a -16 When he was on the floor.
Why not both? Lol Its funny most the KSU fans I work with were upset they beat OU. For 2 reasons, it helps us out and squeak gets stay a little longer when it happens.
