Iām not sure the selection Committee purposely screws us, I honestly donāt believe there is an āeasy roadā , different teams match differently and any team good enough to make the sweet 16 is good enough to make the final four. Do I think match ups are purposely predetermined or try to be for viewship? Yes, money drives this whole thing and people always want more money from the beggars to the CEOs. The 2 years I had the most issue with KUs road was 2010 and 2015. In 2010 UNI was ranked #24 heading into the tournament, I donāt believe they were ranked worse than 30th in any rating system that I saw. There was no reason for them to be a 9 seed, 5 or 6 should have been their bottom, but to say that they were not only a 9 seed but the worst 9 seed because we were the #1 overall seed was ludicrous IMO. We all know the story of 2015 were a team that was ranked all stinking year for the most part and a top 15 kenpom and RPI was a 7 seed, that was a seed to get viewership. Little brother vs big brother in a game that Self said he didnāt want to play because nothing was to gain. We lost both these games by being out hustled and that is on us, to be the best you must beat the best.
Well hopefully we donāt have a guy thatās selfish enough to go rogue and throw up a 25 foot shot at the end of a tight game lol. Brown is a good player and deserves credit for his job on Young but Young also missed shots he usually makes. He has struggled @ WVU and @ KSU, two tough places for any freshman idc how talented you are.
Prayers for Sean, Bill and the Snyder family
@Texas-Hawk-10 Looking at some of their players, James is shooting 11% better from 3 and averages more in every stat. I'd say he improved.
@Texas-Hawk-10 So a young team as they were a year ago that barely lost to us twice by the way, can't get better? Both Manik and James would get minutes, maybe even start for Newman on this team.We have had several guys not be great as Freshmen and grown into good players. I'd say that most players get better every year in our sport.
I think as Self said when Silvio got cleared that the guards minutes would decrease more than the Mitch or Dokes is some of the reason. Self also stated when he was able to play that he was a projected and would be in the program for a few years before being a major guy.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Latin started on the FF team, tho they never even attempt to get him the ball. James is a returning starter that is shooting better than both Vick and Newman while have more steals. Manek their other freshman is averaging more in every column than Newman and Garret besides assist. They are plenty talented enough IMO. They don't have a Doke but other than that they can match up really well with us.
@mayjay I think OU has talent but isnāt being coached the correct way to maximize it.
@drgnslayr He looks pretty salty for a young fella to me, will be a torn in our side for the next few years.
Honestly think Graham is better to have than Young, Young is good averaging 29.5 points a game but heās averaging 20 shots to get that. While Graham is averaging 18 off of 12 shots. There FG
% is similar with Young a slight bit ahead from 2 and Graham a slight bit ahead from 3. I think Young is great no question, he averages 2 more assists than Graham as well but he averages almost twice as many turnovers. If I was doing a fantasy draft in this league Iād take Graham or Carter before Young, maybe even Brown. Young hasnāt played great since conference play began and Iād look for his numbers to continue to dip down as the season wears on being a freshman and playing in tougher games.
Woah no EMAW for me unless we win there, then itās Exiting Manhattan A Winner. Iād rather see KSU win terms of the B12 race but man I hate Weber.
Jo Jo was a LEGEND. Godspeed jayhawk
How about Svi as I called it earlier in the year, he can go from icey to blazing in seconds, had 5 points in the first 33 minutes and 12 in the final 7. Everyone that stepped on the floor tonight battled and played their asses off, Iām very proud of that.
@Jayballer54 One thing that Doke has learned to do better here recently is get deeper post position and an early seal. Which are two big things because he is shooting so well from close range and the deep he is the harder to double team because you have to recover further to the shooter then. Early seals help when the ball is reversed to the 2nd and 3rd side for an easy dunk.
@jaybate-1.0 I highly doubt the KU players are worried about it. The truth be told the guy was getting decent minutes because Ahmad was out and Ahmad, who killed us last year in Morgantown will start in his place and play most of his minutes anyway from here on out.
Final ESPN has something on the matter, that the B12 is reviewing it. Wesley Harris is the player involved, he averages 21 minutes a games, 6.2 points and 4.6 rebounds. I highly doubt they punish him before we play them with the holiday. But I donāt want any excuses if we win.
@BShark I dont like the idea personally, I think its to easy to transfer now.
@wrwlumpy that maddening thing about this game was there was no media outrage, wether it be National like the KU ISU blocking foul on Niang vs EJ or local like the KSU game. Itās only BS when KU wins.
I personally donāt agree with the court storming til the officials and opposing team are off the floor. Then you can trample each other for all I care. In this instance the player was way outta line IMO. Jamariās deal was different because the guy ran by him then turned around and jumped into him. This guy brushed the player with minimal contact, then took a cheap shot in the back of the head. He should be off the team not question, if he just pushed guy or something along those lines I wouldnāt care but this young man should be charged with assault with a shot like that.
@mayjay lmao
@wrwlumpy Yes, that problem will become more of the norm after the next realignment. @Fightsongwriter I honestly have no idea why we added WV when Louisville said they wanted in. WV has a tiny tiny media market and brings practically nothing to the table academically. I guess their decent in FB and BB but Louisville before the offseason basketball stuff was better in both IMO.
@Kcmatt7 I honestly wasnāt impressed with Revis and think he years past his prime, maybe heās worth keeping to help some the young guys.
The fact of the matter is that of our 4-1 record is we likely have just one vs a team that will finish in the top half of the league. Kinda like how I said the real season started with Washington with some of the big wins we had against inferior teams. The next 5 games in this conference (texas a&m is coming for the last non conference ) will tell us a lot about if we can win the conference. It all starts Monday in Morgantown and it ends with OSU In February. I like our chances if we can go 4-1 again but if we lose 3, which could happen itās gonna be tough to win it. Obviously that is the half way point of the conference season but I donāt see a team with 4 or 5 loses to that point winning it, we know the wins at home arenāt a given this year as they have been in the past. Should be a fun race to watch.
@Gunman haha I like the sound of that, @JayHawkFanToo I think Weber can coach talent as long as he doesnāt have to develop it. He may actually be better suited for the NBA in all honesty.
@JayHawkFanToo I think heās a mediocre coach at best, if you take away his first 2 years from Illinois and KSU when he had teams that other guys built, he sucks. His record at KSU is 111-73 with a conference record of 47-48.
Ford, Revis, Hali and Harris all should be cut. Iād keep West for how cheap he is, the others are debatable besides trading Smith.
A OU fan last weekend claimed that WVU fans thru knifes at him in Morgantown.
āI shouldnāt comment because I havenāt seen the tape, but I would bet over the course of a game, and more importantly over the course of the season, that they pretty much balance out,ā Self said of calls. āIām not going to comment what another coach says, but if thatās a reason for losing, or losing a great game, that was a great college basketball game where two teams played their butts off, I donāt buy into that at all. At all.ā -Bill Self after hearing Weberās comments. Weber already isnāt a well liked guy in this conference but goodness, help yourself out and put down the shovel you fool. I mean give a rival coach extra motivation and make the refs dislike you even more.....
@BShark thanks. Most my KSU buddies want him gone but hes got the ārefs cost us the gameā KSU staple down pad. What a chicken s***, Iād never let my son play for a loser like that.
5 games today, 3 won by a mere 1 point. Easily the most evenly matched league in CBB. Iāll wait til March before Iāll say its great.
Link to Weberās comments or video?
@Crimsonorblue22 yes but if he only wins 10 games he very easily could be fired.
Also Wake was spanked once again at the hands of Dook and now have a 8-9 record. Is the clock ticking on him? Hate to see him fail but would love for him to come work with Doke.
@JayHawkFanToo sets up Monday to be even bigger. Baylor is now up bye a slim margin, do we start talking coaching changes in Waco if Drew isnāt able to go dancing this year? (Long way to go but heās failed with some high talented folks both in the b12 and NCAAs). How bout if ISU goes 0-5 with 3 loses in Hilton?
Kansas beats KSU, OU beats TCU and now Tech has just upset WVU. All very close and entertaining games. ISU is currently up on Baylor, who has fallen to new lows this season.Chris Beard my early pick for National Coach of the year.
Barry Brown saw the ghost!!
TCU drops to 1-4 in the league with all losses bye 5 or less points, two in overtime. They are good but they may have just gave away any chance to win the conference. They will have a say in who wins it if they can get some upsets.
Bill Self is the best regular season coach if you look at conference championships and wins. Tom Izzo is one of the best tournament coaches, he only has the one NC but 7 final fours in coaching since 95 while coach K has 12 but has been coaching since 1975.
Great to see Silvio get on the floor, he has a long ways to go but I think heāll be helpful next month.
This will be a battle, they donāt have a ton of size. We need to feed the big fella unlike against ISU, get him going early and often. Brown has been playing extremely well as of late but Wade hasnāt been great since their B12 opener in Ames. We have to start getting rebounds, if we let them live on the offensive glass it will be a tight one, if we actually rebound we can win bye double digits. I honestly have a bad feeling going in to this one. We know they will be fired up after Svi travelled last year. DTG better have the boys fired up.
You wonder how much longer Billy will be in town unless he plans on playing next year. Why stay and practice minimal reps with the first team, he could go over seas and play. He is projected to go in the late second round as of right now, not sure anyone would draft him at this point.
Agh, yāall remember when Bagley reclassified and was cleared like literally instantly. The B12 and KU just donāt make enough money for the NCAA to give two shits. Remember Terrance Jones at UK had a fancy car that weeks later claimed to be purchased by his grandmother. SMH Adidas send the NCAA money and have a tournament!
1 Michigan State is currently down bye 12 to Ohio State at the half. This CBB season is the equivalent to the 2007 craziness in football at this point.
@Gunman I thought DTG was great once again, shot well, drove to the hoop and hit fts. Vick wasnāt great but had some nice plays, didnāt score much but really didnāt need to with the way others did. Garrett had some big rebounds but man the opposing defense can just ignore heās out there, had several plays that he stood at the 3 point line and had no one within 8-10 feet of him. He drove it and got two charges called on him because they know he has no threat to hit jump shots. Svi hasnāt been talked about much after this one all the dude did was hit 5 3s. When heās on, heās a cold blooded killer on the road. Doke was a beast early and most likely has a career night if not for foul trouble. Hard to complain about 14 points in 13 minutes but I bet we wouldāve won bye quiet a bit more if he had been out there just from the law of averages with his size for rebounding. Sam is coming along nice, you can definitely see his athletic ability. Mitch had his best game as a jayhawk, games like this can happen for him in the future bye just playing hard. He reminds me a lot of Jamari Traylor with a better jumper, was happy to see him get big minutes and make plays. Malik, I really donāt know what to think of him at this point. He looks selfish at times and hasnāt found any type of rhythm on the court and could see his minutes continue to go down if he canāt figure it out. He totaled just 1 point and 4 fouls on the stat sheet in 15 minutes. A lot guys have harped on him and he hasnāt played well but if he can grow, heāll be a big part of where we go in March.
@JayHawkFanToo KU vs KSU at AFH
With the way this season is shaping up not only in the B12 but some of the other power 5 conferences, we could see some mid majors with very high seeds. Doesnāt look to be a dominate team in CBB. I always think there are about 10-12 teams each March that can legitimately win the NC. This year with no true power unless Dook and a few others get it figured out, that number maybe closer to 20.
What worries me is at what point does it become less useful to have them? If we get them cleared with 6 games left will they be able to learn and adjust to the college game enough to help this team when it matters? We desperately need them cleared his week if they are to raise the ceiling of this bye a large number.
Iowa State is not a good team bye any stretch, Iām sure theyāll be fired up and ready to play against us. But there is no reason for it to be a close game. On paper the two easiest game left on the schedule are ISU Tuesday and KSU Saturday. Ranked 102nd in Kenpom and 149th in adjusted defense. They have have no one that can cover Doke, could be a career night for the big fella.
@wissox sorry itās fixed now, if you look at KSU tickets on stub hub they are $120 for GA.
@wissox Gosh I wish we had tickets that cheap at times tho lol. I think the cheapest Iāve paid for GA at the fieldhouse is $40 the last 10 years. I know a couple of times against the likes of Toledo and others they are only $20 for mid week dunk fests.
