The NBA is such a joke, touch fouls, obvious travels and double dribbles, no defense or offensive flow. It's terrible to watch, I couldn't tell you the last NBA game I watched more than few minutes, mainly to check in on our boys. Give me back the league I grew up watching with Malone, MJ, magic, bird, Hakeem and Barkley. NBA was hand down better in the 90s.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I completely agree, but I'll still miss Fish in the secondary. Hopefully our linebackers can sure up the run the defense. That killed vs ISU in a game I forgot to mention earlier that we gave away. We were about 8 plays from winning 5 games last year. Making plays late is something our guys must learn quickly.
@stoptheflop I agree with @Kcmatt7 The QB position is huge, we return just about every other guy on offense there is no excuse to not put some serious points on the board this year. I believe we jumped from averaging 17 ppg in 2015 to 21 ppg 2016, we need to be in the mid 30s to win in the big 12. I thought we moved the ball much better last year but the turnovers killed us. If we dont turn it over we win against Ohio, TCU and we are right with KSU at end. I'm a little worried we will miss last years secondary, I think if returned our whole defense we would have a very good shot at a bowl game. But one at time, just want to see more improvements.
So will we be thin on bigs next year? Doke off an injury, lightfoot needing to be locked in a weight room, Coleby to get his explosion back and freshman Preston.
Sad to see him go because of his potential but glad the off court issues with him and JJ are not our problem. Best of luck to him.

You know I think we need to play more guys after watching this game, I realize with doke out we basically had 7 but I think it pays to be able to go 9 deep. We really were 9 deep in 08, all guys didn't play every game but most of them.
I saw the title and just about went on a wild goose chase lol.
The officiating was a complete joke, hopefully the NCAA sees all the folks complaining on social media. Idc if they say scoring is up people want to guys making plays and not standing at the line half the game.
I had some sad flash backs watching, of the 03 title game watching Roy's boys brick ft after ft. Idk who was luckier UNC because that Polish guy (not spelling his name) missed about 15 bunnies or Gonzaga because UNC couldn't hit a free one or a 3 pointer to save their lives.
My wife unfortunately has an English degree KU and unless you wanna teach English, it is completely useless. I went to trade school which is okay in some fields but for me it's working my tail off just to survive. I always joke I'm the poorest fella on here. Lol.

Of course Oregon didn't shoot the ball near as well tonight. I love coach Williams and always will but it stinks that he probably gets his third NC not with us. We have got to step up in the post season 36 years between first two titles and 20 between second and third is no fun.
I think DG stays, he's very close to Newman.
Ya umm, maybe they should sit the next couple of years out lol. I've gotten pissed and threw a few things, maybe said some choice words but dont believe I've burned anything. Its funny because @cragarhawk and I know a big Chiefs fan that would get pissed after a loss and get everything he owed that had their name on it, throw it in a big pile and threaten to burn all of it saying "this sh*t doesnt even deserve to be worn" .
I disagree about them being a better team. The luck factor was def in their favor, a guy banked in a 35 foot shot at halftime. Being out rebounded by 4 to a bigger team isnt terrible but they hit 2 3s off of offensive rebounds in big moments. Most of the rebounds we gave up weren't because they were bigger, we just missed more shots than them, giving them more chances. A couple of those offensive rebounds we had guys standing and watching, had nothing on them being more athletic, they would've out rebounded us by much more off of that alone if that was the case. LL wasnt athletic enough to play with them I'd say, but Mason, JJ, Vick and DG are as athletic as any players in D1 IMO. Coming out with little energy and emotion hurt a ton and missing shots aswell. We played solid D in the second half. They only scored 30 with us putting them at the line 3 times late. Why we didnt keep driving the ball trying to get fouls and dishing to LL for a dunk I'll never know, it worked a few times only to never be tried again. I've said all year we haved lived by out scoring our opponents and lived too much off of our 3 pointers and guards. I belive LL only averaged 8 points a game (still love LL) but he needed another big like Trob and Withey or Black and Emiid to help him out. We needed low post scoring IMO then we would've been in better shape even with the 4 guard line up.

@jaybate-1.0 none, I think if his 17 footer was falling he would've been useful. Coleby struggled like LL with just not being athletic enough against Oregon.
@jaybate-1.0 I would agree about needing a good post player, now. LL was decent but was not athletic compared to most the guys he faced. We need a guy like Bragg that actually has their head outta the a$$ and plays.
@mayjay I don't think I've said anything disrespectful, just said we need to change our approach. What we are doing obviously ain't working. Maybe your right, maybe it wasn't anyones fault. But why is it same game most the time?
@mayjay I wouldn't say it's all on self but how many different players have had this issue with our one coach. To me it's all mental, players take after their coach. He was tight as he was last year and so were our players.

@jayballer54 I don't think I've seen anyone say fire Bill on here. We need more FFs and NCs to keep up with the east coast teams like UNC and Dook period they have more in every category. The first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one. Bill Self has a problem winning Elite 8 games, that is a FACT not an opinion, he or his players, staff who the hell or maybe all have to do stuff a little different in that game.
It was a disappointing end to say the least, lets look back at some of our games and thoughts without going into getting ticked about Oregon. It really was a season of almost for a lotta different reasons, Mason was set to pass Collins for 5th place on the scoring list and become the first KU play in history to get over 1800 points, 500 assists and 500 rebounds. He would come up just 3 points shy of Sherron and JJ tipping away a rebound late (499) of doing so. Hopefully he gets the POY to make it feel a better and he quite frankly (see what I did there lol) deserves it, What a season he had, enjoyed watching him grow for 4 years and it is sad I wont see him in crimson and blue again. Bill Self was set to pass Roy for second on the all time wins list but came up 2 short. The TCU loss, really cost both of these thinks from happening regardless of last night and maybe would've help us playing more in KC. I know some are wont agree with this but it was an above average year for KU. Self averages 30 wins a year, a big 12 title and a trip to the sweet 16. We made the elite 8, won our 11th straight opening round game, won 31 games, beating Dook and UK (on their home floor no less) and of course won the big 12 for the 13th straight time coupled with breaking the record for most consecutive NCAA berths in a row. It was a good year, not a great year but good. The low spot for me during the season (not talking post season of course) was blowing a 14 point lead at home to ISU, the high spot was BIFM hitting the shot in MSG to down Dook. From a player perspective I thought JJ proved to the best OAD we have ever had. DG and SVI were pretty much who I thought they would be, LL did what he could and won us some games. The biggest let down really in recent memory is the play of Carlton Bragg, talk a bout a sophomore slump or what ever the heck that was, it was total crap outside of about 3 games. There has been talk of a transfer here and I hope its not true, I think if he can get his mind right and hit the weights he will become a good player. Vick showed that he has a very high ceiling once he gets the game to slow down a bit. Doka going down sucked massively, same as if Coleby wasn't fresh off an ACL injury but he had some good minutes several times being thrown in the fire. I'll always wonder what we could've done with Doka healthy. The off the court issues were foolish and have to stop, it was very embarrassing as a KU fan to see us in the news in what seemed like every other week for mostly childish immature behavior. On to next season, and all 12 of us talking KU football lol.
I'm cheering for Frank Martin but really don't care at this point. I watched the last 3 minutes of the UK, UNC. That all the long I've had my TV on since our loss.

I agree with @Texas-Hawk-10 Self sucks in the elite 8. It's not even a debate. He's had the better team most the time and lost. Now still love Self but it's very very frustrating to lose so many times at the same point.
@mayjay do you think that VCU, UCLA, GT, Nova and Oregon were all better teams than us? I definitely don't.
@Eric-san yes 1-6 in the final four is better than 2-7 in the E8 because a final four is better. If we had had a few more final fours I'd feel better about us. That why no one talks about coach Ks 5 first weekend exits as a higher seed since 07 because he gets to the final four and has won 2 titles in that span. We have to win more titles to get to the dook level.

Ya hearing the choking thing gets pretty old after 25 years. I'll be disappointed for awhile. I was checking some other sites and a lot folks think DG threw the game for money (ridiculous). I also had some friends that are like me and are upset why we can't play hard time(besides Mason) and time again? Are we recruiting the wrong type of players? We give KSU shit for their play hard chart but man I give a lot to see our guys play hard but it's too late now. I think I'm getting to be more of a football fan for our University. For the simple they play hard for the whole game, something our basketball team just doesn't do. People too worried about their draft status or something I guess.

After cool down I re watched some of the game. To be honest we didn't play hard in the first half (outside of BIFM). We played hard the 15 final minutes, we have lived that way for too long all season. It bit our butts against TCU and today. I've been saying all year we have to outscore our opponents. Some it was us missing shots but some of it was Oregon playing good defense too. If it was just shooting they wouldn't have dominated every single stat in the game. I think the point it was over was when we had a chance down 6 and JJ tipped the board over Frank. If that is a rebound and we didn't just miss 5 fts we had a chance right there. I honestly feel like I did in 02 and 03, maybe a bit worse because of not making the FF. But we should have had back to back titles those years and this year with last year. I don't get why we tried so hard to get LL the ball. After hook wasn't falling why keep feeding it to him, same as Perry last year. I'm not putting it all on coach but whether you want to admit it or not he's now 2-8 as coach in the Elite 8 and I think he's had the better team all but one time. You can say it aint so but numbers don't lie and looking back Davidson very easily could've beaten us then as well as UNC in 2012. Self is about 4 plays away from being 0-10 in that round, Now that doesn't mean we should fire him to the guys that put words in everyones mouths but maybe he needs to change the way he does stuff in that round. Matt Tait claimed Self was as tight as he'd ever seen last year, players take after their coaches most the time.
