Well, that was a nice catch.
@Crimsonorblue22 Time to put Sore-ya in our :dog: :house: again!
@Fightsongwriter I am great on financial planning. I love making plans to spend lots of money! Now, the dollars--well, they aren't always all that anxious to step right up and fit into my plans....so, no yacht, no European villa, no private island. That does allow me great flexibility in future planning, however--no ties to all that stuff!
@Crimsonorblue22 28 pts, including the winning 15 foot jump shot with 2 secs left (and a foul shot) to give the Grizzlies a 3 pt victory!
@Crimsonorblue22 They just said the Lakers rebuilt Ingram's shot, so it is probably so he can really get it tuned.
Our friend Cheick Diallo started for the Pelicans today. 27 and 10, no blocks, in 34 minutes.
@Crimsonorblue22 Did that mean crank windows? You could get a portable room a/c for your bedroom. They are a little more expensive, and just be careful the drain hose doesn't get plugged.
@KUSTEVE Thanks, will still pass. Just a few exhibitions, after all, and I will have a few projects to be done since I am now back into baseball watching.
@Kcmatt7 The web site specifically says if one login is used more than once simultaneously they reserve the right to cancel the account without refund. Might not do it, but still, with just a small audience, it would be pretty easy for them to spot duplicates....
@KUSTEVE Thanks, very nice of you! But I personally don't like listening. I was just mentioning it since the article made it sound like an alternative. I am way too visual--spoiled by TV, I guess. Italy especially would be difficult to listen, and then try to imagine watching, because I have not seen so many of this year's team play!
@approxinfinity That site in my last post lists hundreds of news outlets rated left, left-center, least biased, right-center, and right.
Everyone can probably find their spot somewhere on this spectrum--but they should do as you are, wondering what other ways of thinking are saying.
Open-mindedness is great! Unless a mind is so open it just empties out....
@approxinfinity Actually, CSM is not considered conservative. "Least biased", though:

@KUSTEVE Radio is apparently covering the games, but I don't know where online.
@approxinfinity Here is a timely start on CSM on the topic of journalism itself.
Two thunderous dunks by Julian in the 4th quarter have helped Jazz take a lead after being down most of the game. Should be on highlights somewhere. Crowd went wild both times. Funny to see him bulky and bearded!

@BShark What will we complain about if only realistic recruits are listed? Makes the recruiting embargo talk more interesting if all the top 10 guys are listed.
It was a lot more fun in HS talking about all the girls I wanted to ask out than it would have been to only talk about the smaller number who would accept!
Usually, I think, but I would expect that at pro athletes' income level the deductions might be highly limited. (Off the cuff opinion by someone who never studied tax law!)
Voting ended today. See Moose!
You guys voting made the difference. He won the fan vote and is an All Star!

Congrats, y'all!
@brooksmd I guess that paying expenses is pretty much standard.
When my father was a moderator in his church in Ohio in the early 60's, it hosted a big meeting regarding some type of church/state relations and legal forum or something. He invited a Supreme Court justice (a personal hero) to speak, and of course all travel and hotel/restaurant expenses were covered.
I remember my father being incredibly p.o.ed when the justice's secretary sent a second invoice for something like $3.50 to cover cigarettes and a lighter. He never said anything good about the guy again.
So I can see that it seems cheap if athletes need to be paid a few bucks to go. In reading articles like this, though, just remember that often participants in charity events also make donations or provide additional time attending functions with sponsors and donors.
From an alleged newspaper you can find on the Web, or perhaps buy it and use it for lining bird cages:
Traylor to play in Greece
Former Kansas forward Jamari Traylor has signed a contract to play for GS Kymis, a team located in Kymi, on the island of Euboea, Greece, Eurobasket.com and the GS Kymis official Website reported.
Traylor, 25, averaged 10.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in 40 games for the Redwell Gunners of Oberwart, Austria, last season. He was selected to Eurobasket.comβs Austrian League All-Imports Team and to the All-Star Game.
He also played 10 games in the FIBA Europe Cup. He averaged 9.1 points and 6.3 boards a game.
@wissox Minds in the same rut! I drive my wife to work. When I drop her off, I say: "Remember! Don't kill anyone today, especially if they deserve it!"
@globaljaybird I know you meant another meaning, but I thought this was funny:
Mooncalf | Harry Potter Wiki | Fandom powered by Wikia
The Mooncalf is a shy creature that only comes out of its burrow during a full moon. The Mooncalf has smooth, pale grey skin, and four spindly legs that end in large flat webbed feet. The Mooncalf also has a very long neck and bulging blue eyes that sit on the top of its head.
@KUSTEVE
A 1962 article summarizing what happened to those guys (a few typos--apparently it was scanned onto the web):
In a 3 way tie for the 2nd wild card spot! (TB/Minn)
Interestingly (to me, at least, but you may have noticed I have way too much spare time if I find these things) KC is the only AL team not in first place to have a winning record over the past 10 games. While the Royals have been improving, the other teams haven't.
Especially @jayballer54's Bronx Bombers who have taken a dive...... um, about that crowing six weeks ago.....? π
@DoubleDD GN is good night!
@wissox I have no problem with wanting to win NCAA championships. I DO have a problem with acting like a petulant baby when we don't win, crying about how awful the team or coach are, and disparaging anyone who dares point out good things (like conf titles). Or saying nothing except NCAA titles matters. Wow, what does that mean, anyway? The other accomplishments of the players mean nothing?
We are not entitled to win. And it is entertainment, for crying out loud. Anyone incapable of dealing with losing in sports never learned what is really important in life.
Hope he catches on somewhere!
@brooksmd Thanks for the game comments. They add a flavor to the box scores!
@approxinfinity When does entropy triumph and the entire universe scatters into nothingness?
@Red.Rooster Thank you. I try to be entertaining sometimes, and at least light-hearted most of the time. There is too much anger in the world.
@Red.Rooster Your patience through everything, and your devoted attention to your bride, are a true testament to the power of love. An inspiration we can all draw on in these times where cynicism runs all too amok.
Wishing you both all the best!
@wrwlumpy His numbers take that into account--the number of days since we lost to each team.
@HighEliteMajor I don't see playing the other ex-conference-teams as hypocrisy. None of those schools insisted that the rest of the conference had to make commitments to stay before leaving themselves. As I recall, MU did, truncating any discussions other schools could have had -- and then MU left.
A&M left in the wake, but they had no special relationship with KU anyway. Neb and Colo both have had pretty close ongoing ties to KU, plus those areas are filled with KU fans.
Finally, those 3 schools do not have a history of abusing KU players and fans, or disparaging KU on a regular basis.
The hatred began in the antebellum era and continued in the Civil War. The rivalry arose out of a century of conference sports competition which Missouri precipitously abandoned when they left the conference. I see no value in letting them try to climb back into prominence by "reviving" a rivalry where the only stake held by either side is 150 years of emotional investment in the anger of the past.
The only hypocrisy is MU's, by blithely quitting the conference and then acting like they are the ones trying to keep things going. They are just another school. The past is over.
@HighEliteMajor I don't see the hypocrisy. You and others don't like MU and want to play them in order to enjoy the competition. Some of us dislike them and don't want to have anything to do with them. I don't care about whether we lose to them any more than I don't want to lose to anyone.
Where is the saying one thing, doing another that makes up hypocrisy?
@Texas-Hawk-10 "unless Bamba's handler is a complete idiot."
Never underestimate the power of determined idiocy.
@Crimsonorblue22 Humans have been acting on aggressive and instinctively self-centered impulses for tens of thousands of years, based on millions of years of biological and genetic evolution (misnomer, in this regard) before that. Unfortunately, "civilized" behavior is a relatively new concept, based purely in cognitive development that has advanced in just a few thousand years way beyond basic instincts. We should probably be amazed at how far the race has come in checking primitive behavior in a blink of an eye compared to how long basic survival required it.
But, yeah, they should be put on a deserted island (with many thousands like them) and left to lives not benefitting from a society they seem to not value.
@nuleafjhawk Booze? On campus? Eeeek!
@Kcmatt7 Brotherly love -- heart-warming, don't you think?
@Kcmatt7 Chippy can be more fun when people try to be humorous, or creative, or informative--at least something besides "You stupid moron." "Jane, you ignorant slut" was a funny parody on SNL in the 70's, but that type of attack is too common in modern digital fora.
Of course, I come from a generation that thinks proofreading is worth it all the time, so maybe I expect too much!

@Kcmatt7 No box scores. He has been in 4 games vs France, scoring 13, 4, 22, and 4 (if memory serves correctly). On Sunday he scored 25 with 7 rebs vs Turkey. This weekend starts a 3 game exhib tourney in Italy. His shooting has seemed to be in the 25 to 35% range.
The info on the 1st 4 games is from Bedore's article about Svi's reaction to the draft. The rest is from an add-on to an article by Bedore about Jeff Graves starting a women's minor league bb team in KC.
@globaljaybird The head, and attached probiscus, which comes to mind most quickly for nomination to undertake such a probe is, I am afraid, previously engaged in a deep self-examination of a similar nature.
I can only suspect that if Ball doesn't get the Lakers into a Finals within 3 years, Daddy-dumb-dumb will publicly point at Magic. He will thereupon learn that Magic is one of those guys Jim Croce sang about on whose cape you don't tug.
@Crimsonorblue22 Recent article says Bubba is playing his best ball after almot quitting when he started season badly. Call him up. Euthanize Moss.
