@Crimsonorblue22 TBS
Kent State just blew three straight layup opportunities when they had started catching up. Would REALLY like to see Ind go down, but the moment might be too big for the underdog there.
@Gorilla72 You need to go to the 2023 thread!
@wissox I assume you were screaming words appropriate for church.
@BShark WV's mascot has the rifle, but Ala has him outgunned.
@BShark Such fond memories of Mrs Beasley keeping Buffy feeling secure. Mr French always seemed kind of cringy.
@AsadZ Not only that, he is going to a major rival. A bit of spite involved, you think?
Thornhill to Browns, Saunders to Saints, Brown to Bengals, Burton to Broncos.
Team is changing!
Maybe someone is cleaning the Madden Cruiser for Las Vegas.

CJ Noland leaving OU after 2 seasons.
John Hugley leaving Pitt.
A Pitt player announced while they are still in it? That's team spirit!
@nuleafjhawk What is your plan for sleepind in game 1 at 1.pm your time? Gotta go with anything that works!
When did we get Kendrick Davis? Why hasn't he played? These fantasy coaching moves ain't worth the paper they aren't printed on.
I'd play Wilt over KJ.

Bench DaJuan. The brilliant analysis of KUBucketeers...
Remember, last year about this time someone said he couldn't wait until "that POS [Dave McCormack] left campus."
Maybe this year's homage to that stupidity will have a similar ending!
@kjayhawks I guess my wife hates me since she has made that mistake. And she has referred to the Kansas Chiefs, too. Man, I see her true feelings now . . . after 25 years, too.
Que sera sera....put Doris Day on, and just keep the faith!
Every year we have the hardest bracket,, the NCAA is out to punish us any way possible, there is not enough media respect for KU, etc etc etc. Y'all are certainly entertaining!
Bottom line: You play the game in front of you, one at a time. We only play 4 teams out of the 15 others in our bracket, and only 1 from the other half. Might win out, might not! Enjoy it!!!
@tundrahok said in The Bench Theory:
I know I sure prefer to be stupid in private than in public.
You might be an exception. Social media has exposed milions of people whose abject stupidity is now on display, and whose idiocy we would not have been cursed to see before this century!
@BShark I'd say it is more precise to say the correlation of eventual champs to those 7 weeks means the polls are more reflective of performance and coaching than talent. (Performance is itself reflective of talent, of course, except for UK this year!)
Anyone know how the preseason polls correlate to eventual champions? Those polls are largely based on talent evaluation, and UNC certainly blew that one.

Who do I need to call to get the Helms foundation to award KU a title for 2020? 😂
PHOF!
@wissox I'd rather have a pedantic know-it-all who is wrong half the time, but is pretty impertubable, than be subjected to the rantings of a guy whose temperament seems to be a bipolar combo of stoned and methed.
@Crimsonorblue22 The ESPN banner on now in the Fizzou game advertises us on ESPN tonite.
Mine shows KU on ESPN. @jayballer67 , you will be pleased to know the Duke game is listed on ESPN2!
Does ESPN programming change regionally?
I want it all! Amputate legs, fuse vertebrae if we have to. Welfare of players is unimportant! Championships are the ONLY thing that matter!....sorry, channeled you know who for a second.
@Crimsonorblue22 I think he will, but I also think he will be prioritizing staying calmer on the sidelines. Since Fran told us 15 times yesterday that Harris could coach the team, I suspect HCBS will allow more on-court decision making next year. (Actually, Fran notwithstanding, I do think this, and think we may see similar grooming of players in that mold in the future.)
I remember being at a KU/ISU game at the old preseason Big 8 post-Christmas tournament in the early '70s. Dad and I had the fun of watching what I seem to remember was a 9 point play...We made a shot and got fouled, and the ISU coach got 3 bench technicals.
@rockchalkjayhawk That is weird. Mine got the KU game. Wss yours set to record for the time period on the channel, or to record all ku games?
@jayballer67 If his health drives Self out, we should make sure @approxinfinity forwards the "Who will replace Self?" thread to Girod so he can get a head start.

My YouTubeTV lets me record all things KU. But the YTTV guide was correct anyway. Must have been something weird with DirectTV for you. I remember having their guide 18 years ago and hating it then.

Getting the topic back to Jim where it should be (some of the fault is on me) good riddance of the old fart!
To synthesize the two discussions, can we all agree that it is ok to hate Boeheim? 🥴
Any thoughts from those of you who follow these things, about this guy from Seth Davis's list of coaches likely to move to new jobs this year:
Pat Kelsey, head coach, Charleston. In just his second season with the Cougars, Kelsey has led the team to a 31-3 record, the CAA regular season and conference titles, and the program’s first AP Top 25 ranking in 13 years. But he’s no one-hit-wonder. Kelsey is a Skip Prosser disciple who was an assistant coach at Wake Forest and Xavier, and as the head coach at Winthrop, he led the Eagles to three league titles in his last five years. He coaches an exciting, up-tempo style and has a high-octane personality, which would be appealing to a program in need of energy.
@Crimsonorblue22 Two types of strokes, ischemic (blockage), and hemorrhagic (bleed).
For blockages, stent could be used (like carotid artery). They put the collapsed stent in and expand it to open the channel. Not so good for a bleed.

Great. Now the Zombie Apocalypse has found its leader.
@Crimsonorblue22 UCF might find a Mayjay & spouse attending some games over the years from our home in the KU desert known as SC.
Bob Knight, linguistics expert.
Also known to conduct engineering tests on folding chairs, and for his diplomacy with American territories. Not to mention his exemplary demonstration of psychological stability to students.
Jacque just got the Nets job with a new contract so he is out.
Q: My wife has 3 apples and I have 6 apples. She gives me 2 apples. How many apples does my wife have?
A: Silly question. Obviously she has 9 apples.
@wissox I think you should just take credit for the more expressive word. Amazingest is far more amazing!
@Crimsonorblue22 Thank you for posting that! Would have liked that better than the family "throuple" meeting!
Maybe those refs were Bengals or Eagles fans and believe that no fouls should ever be called near the end of the game. "Let the players decide it!" snort...
@cragarhawk Just to clarify: I don't think he intended to insult, but given the chance to back away from it he hasn't. That always make you wonder if someone did have a bad intent, or is just abjectly stupid. Either way....😳
@wissox brooksmd, I think.
He quit after getting called out for making political comments, as I recall.
According to the quotes in the long Twitter feed in the orig post, he did NOT apologize. He said he quoted Ephesians to make the kid more receptive to coaching. A religious reference to slave/master hierarchy in order to get a student to obey his coach could conceivably be done without racial context, but not to a Black student in the US where slavery was based on race, and survival of Blacks for about 120 years after slavery still often depended on subservience and obedience.
@cragarhawk This wasn't a preacher in a church. This was a white man in a position of power trying to get a Black kid to obey by analogizing their roles to slave and master. I cannot imagine anything he could do that could have been better designed to insult the kid.
Blank screen?
Cincinnati got some nice publicity in the Super Bowl with the Kelce bros storylines

@approxinfinity We binged Full Swing on Netflix the last few days. Probably the best edited documentary I have ever seen. Dunno if people who don't care at all about golf would like it, but I know several only-mildly-interested-in-golf fans who were thoroughly captivated. 8 episodes.
Thx... I was surprised I watched the whole thing. So much confusion that the initial throwing of the ball hardly even got mentioned!
@Jethro @wissox I was watching it. The Alabama center got tied up with an Auburn guy who (while fouling) fell down (with some assistance via a pulled arm) into the backboard base. Ala center then threw the ball at the Auburn guy on the ground. He got ejected, as did two guys (incl an asst coach) who left the bench (at the other end) and made it almost all the way there.
There was a lot of confusion because it happened right at the under 8:00 mark after a whistle, so many Ala guys left the bench celebrating the foul and the fact that they were making headway on coming back from 17 down. They were going the other way to high five the players returning from the other end.
Took over 15 mins, I think, to view all the monitors, ID the perps, consult with off-court officials a la NFL, and all the usual crap.
I thought three more Ala guys should have been ejected, and maybe an Auburn guy who got overly aggressive and bumping into Ala guys.
edit: tied with 45 secs left
@wissox I took the still from the video. That foot ain't lyin'. I'd like to see a different angle, though.
