Baylor Bears - Saturday - Noon - CBS • Jan 10, 2020 10:32 PM

@jayballer73 I don't like Scott Drew. I don't like Bruce Weber. I don't like Gregg Marshall. I will never applaud them or cheer for them. I don't care what their rags to riches stories at crappy colleges are.

Be on the Drew bandwagon when Self is no longer here. He wouldn't last 6 months before he was run out of Lawrence.

@bcjayhawk Zackly!

Who is our best PG at this moment? • Jan 10, 2020 05:43 PM

Yeah, kudos to ESPN for the #4 pick. hehehe

Baylor Bears - Saturday - Noon - CBS • Jan 10, 2020 05:41 PM

@jayballer73 "kind of have to laugh always under estimating what Drew has done with the Baylor program."

0 - 17 in Lawrence. That's why we laugh.

Call me .........well call me whatever you want. I say we win by 14. You pick the score.

The part of this game that I'm most excited about?

Doke's free throw shooting

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:43 AM

@DanR ISU Suckclones?

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:42 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 yes. I have espn+ (obviously), but I have a Roku streaming stick and am able to pause and rewind with my Roku remote

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:40 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 you can't rewind?

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:38 AM

@BeddieKU23 NOOOOOOOOOO!

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:36 AM

@kjayhawks slower than molasses in January

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:32 AM

@BeddieKU23 that's why I'm not concerned about losing Dotson next year. Seems like we've had 1 or 2 decent point guards.

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:28 AM

I would like Braun much better if he would pronounce his name correctly....

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:16 AM

@BShark throw Bill Walton and Billy Packer in there and you would have quite the final 4.

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:12 AM

Is it strange that we're 11-2, up in Ames by 23 and I'm still thinking "man, we've got a lot of improvements to make" ?

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:08 AM

@KirkIsMyHinrich probably from Ames

Hilton Tragic Game Thread • Jan 09, 2020 02:00 AM

Love hearing the announcers talk about how Baylor has a great chance of beating us at AFH this weekend. They must not know of our secret weapon- Scott Drew.

Roy losing the locker room? • Jan 08, 2020 10:32 PM

@benshawks08 Ah, the English teacher shines a whole new light on things. And it makes me cringe because I don't do so well with the whole grammar and punctuation thing sometimes.

My apologies !!

Roy losing the locker room? • Jan 08, 2020 10:01 PM

@benshawks08 IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT ME ???

Actually, I know that words matter. They matter a lot.

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue"
Proverbs 18:21 NKJV***

I still believe that often "we" put too much emphasis on the actual words that are spoken. For instance, since this thread is referring to Roy - when Roy uttered the (in)famous "I don't give a SH*T about North Carolina" statement, what if the NC fans, alumni, Administration all said "WHOA. We can never tolerate having a coach who would make that kind of derogatory remark against our beloved institution. Forget this dadgummed blasphemer and go find a real coach. Like Bill Self."

They knew that they were just words. Meaningless. Said in the heat of the moment. They didn't take him literally.

There. That's my words for the day.

Roy losing the locker room? • Jan 08, 2020 08:53 PM

@benshawks08 See what I mean? That means nothing to me.

Punch me in the face - that will get my attention!

Roy losing the locker room? • Jan 08, 2020 08:30 PM

I think everyone gets too wound up about what people are saying. People say stupid crap - that's what we do. Whether it's intentional stupid crap designed to motivate or humiliate, or if it's unintentional stupid crap that just spews out as word vomit. It doesn't matter. Words make very little difference.

Unless it's "Hey, let's fire up the nuke's".

I hope his dog runs away.

@ajvan
I have youtubetv and espn+ as well. Also invested a one time fee of $59 for a Roku stick and I get so many flipping channels I can never begin to watch all of them. I wish i would have disengaged from the Commie Cable Co years ago. I LOVE my current setup. Once in a blue moon the screen will buffer for a couple of seconds - that's the only downfall and one i can live with.

@Marco Even in 1920 they could hit free throws.

I've got ESPN+ and have had no problems with it - but this pisses me off. You'd think "they" would want to make it easier for fans to watch their teams, games, advertising and not more difficult. Pretty soon they'll price the majority of fans out of watching and sooner or later they'll find a way to charge to listen on the radio. Then I guess I'll go back to fishing, hunting and fixing stuff around the house instead of watching sports.

@Crimsonorblue22

Well........fine then.

@tundrahok Nice article - thank you.

I still can't help but think (like all the others) what would his NBA career be like with 4 years of KU training?

Water under the bridge.

What's become of Ben McLemore? I don't follow pro ball at all, but I never hear him mentioned.

@BShark Are there any other factors that could be causing you to have ESPN+ problems? I've had them for ......6 months now, maybe longer and have had no problems at all. Seems strange.

Here we go again - Self rumor mill • Jan 02, 2020 05:04 PM

SO - if he DOES leave - do we love him or hate him?

I'm just hoping that he doesn't tell Bonnie Bernstein " I don't give a SH*T about the NBA "

@approxinfinity Can we still talk about Wilt?

Top 5 coaches of the decade • Dec 31, 2019 06:59 PM

@Woodrow I agree - MOSTLY.

I used to detest Billy Packer and got to the point where I would not watch a game that he was working. Jay Bilas is quickly climbing my list of can't stand to listen to announcers. By the way, his name is really spelled Jay BIAS.

But for the most part I try to ignore the anti KU remarks.

@wrwlumpy

There's not much better in life than seeing Ohio St lose in basketball and football in the same weekend. Now if only their baseball, softball, volleyball, rowing, chess, hockey and livestock judging teams had lost as well.....

Top 5 coaches of the decade • Dec 30, 2019 07:09 PM

@approxinfinity "Thank you for reminding me to value the positives."

Yeah, it's usually the other way around with us. Lol.

Top 5 coaches of the decade • Dec 30, 2019 03:23 PM

@approxinfinity I suppose so. I personally don't believe that Dick Vitale has that, but hey - I've been wrong before.

I do know that when he does games at Duke, he loses his mind over their fans, their arena, their coach, their players, their state.

Does the same thing at Kentucky, Michigan State, Kansas, etc.

Wherever he goes, he finds excellent things about that particular institution.

Top 5 coaches of the decade • Dec 30, 2019 02:13 PM

@kjayhawks I kind of disagree with your statement that DV likes Duke and others more than KU. Honestly, I think he loves everybody. Seriously. He loves college basketball more than any human I've ever heard of and I like and respect him because of that. I'm a "heart on my sleeve" kind of guy and he is too. Watch any game that he's involved with - he never says anything bad about anybody.

Good guy.

Oklahoma versus Louisiana St • Dec 29, 2019 03:37 AM

I was hoping it would be 100 - 0, but can live with 63 - 28.

Suck it OU.

Stanford Cardinals - Sunday - 2pm - ABC • Dec 27, 2019 10:48 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 We have the technology - we will DVR one or the other.

I'm not a proponent of anyone making 100 million or whatever obscene amount of money they make - BUT - once the money is in their hands, they can do whatever they dang well like with it. I will send Lamar my address if he wants to donate to the poor.

And here’s the suspect arrested for the mass shooting of 13 in Chicago. National outrage or just another night in the inner city?

I have no way of verifying this, but when I lived in Houston from 1979 - 1987, there was one hospital there (Ben Taub Hospital) that reported treating an average of 50 gunshot victims - per day. That number could be skewed from 30+ years having gone by, but it was an incredible number. Although, at the time the Metro Houston population was around 4,000,000 - so I guess that only comes out to .0000125 %. Still a lot of shooting goin on. Even for Texas.

Here we are, eleven games into the season.

Two losses to ranked teams by a combined total of THREE points.

We are screwed.

Fire Self.

I enjoyed our long stay at #1.

@Kcmatt7

I know LeBron is a beast. And undoubtedly one of the greats (despite the crying little girl statement!) - but Wilt was truly a freak. And he wasn't just a basketball freak - he was a freak at any sport he tried. I heard (and i believe this is true) that Arnold Schwarzenneger left the gym that they both worked out at because Wilt was so much stronger than him.

I know this is not a true measure of greatness - but certainly something to think about:

In his 16 year NBA career, LeBron has had twelve 50 point games.
In his 14 year NBA career, Wilt had ONE-HUNDRED & EIGHTEEN 50 point games.

Wilt was not just a scorer, he also led the league many times in rebounds - I think one year he even led in assists! a 7'2" dude leading the league in assists.....

Anyway - as you can tell I have a huge man crush on Wilt.
The fact that he went to KU doesn't diminish that in any way for me.

@Kcmatt7 I say this respectfully to you - Wilt would have made LeBron cry like a little girl.
