@BeddieKU23 So, how did this happen? Surely Self, after all these years, didn't wake up before the season and say " Oh, what the heck, let's play some defense this year".

Did the team just evolve? Did they say " Nobody can put the ball in the hoop so we may as well just play good defense"?

Either way, I personally love to see the good "D". Love to see the opponents scoring in the 40's and 50's.

Self going for 700th win tomorrow β€’ Feb 10, 2020 04:17 PM

He'd be 914 - 0 if he'd listen to me.....

@benshawks08 that was a setup loss my friend. Don't be surprised if Drew forfeits the game in Wacko.

@DanR "But seriously, white pants in December?"

No couth. I will never again set foot in the state of Tennessee.

Super Bowl β€’ Feb 05, 2020 02:06 PM

@approxinfinity I respect your opinion - here's mine. For the ...two minutes it takes to sing the National Anthem, it doesn't seem like a huge inconvenience to be respectful to the men and women who have given their lives for our country.

@Crimsonorblue22 I love that movie too. Probably seen it 30 times. My wife would say that is an understatement.

Chiefs are world champs β€’ Feb 04, 2020 10:17 PM

This made me giggle. A lot. A 2017 draft review for Patrick Mahomes.

USA Today (didn't see the point of giving the schmuck's name...) gave the Chiefs a C-minus for picking Mahomes. He wrote: β€œCalling Mahomes a project is a major understatement. He’s nowhere near ready to play in the NFL. And, honestly, he may never be. Between his inconsistent accuracy due to poor mechanics, his tendency to bail from clean pockets and his lack of field vision, he’s going to leave as many big plays on the field as he creates. This was a risky pick.”

Super Bowl β€’ Feb 04, 2020 09:10 PM

@FarmerJayhawk I agree. I love to be spontaneous and slightly rebellious (very slightly), but not with the National Anthem.

@dylans I agree. I just don't see why they commit if they're not really sure. I guess it's insurance - "Well, if a GOOD school won't have anything to do with me, I can always fall back on KU".

@Kcmatt7 I guess it's good that we all don't think the same. How boring would that be? Lol - I respect your opinion.

@Kcmatt7 Nobody said he had to stay here four years.

Call me naive. I don't care if you're 5 or 95, if you give your word - you should keep your word.

Nothing says they have to commit in the first place - if they're unsure just say "Ummmm - I'm considering (fill in the University of choice) - there's a lot of things I like here, but I need to check out some more options before I COMMIT"

I am decommitting from kansas and 100% open

Big 12 Conference Going to Help or Hurt KU β€’ Jan 28, 2020 09:33 PM

@Hawk8086 They remind me a lot of Oklahoma football. Blow everyone away during the regular season and then flop in the postseason. I hope.

Nah.

Probably nah.

@jayballer73 I'm sorry - I have to do this.

Baylor will implode sooner or later. They are Baylor. Imploding is what they do. They are Top 5 in the country in imploding.

I have confidence in them.

@benshawks08 said "We can talk about a great win last night but if we are honest, it was pretty much a night off."

I understand why you said that, BUT - we never win at OSU so there's that. Also, we need some games like this to get in our "new team" rhythm. So I think it was a good win.

Big 12 Suspensions β€’ Jan 24, 2020 10:40 PM

@drgnslayr Don't get me wrong - I HATE the incident that happened Tuesday. In fact, I saw the first few seconds (to process what was going on) and then I turned the channel.

But Kansas being told to CLEAN UP BASKETBALL !! ?? I don't think there's anything to clean up. It's not like we're a prison league team that brawls with everybody we play and spits on their cheerleaders. It was an isolated incident that really should have been between one KU player and one KSU player and it got out of hand.

I don't think we need to clean up basketball. Just inform these young men that if they want to brawl, they'll pay the price.

Just my opinion.

When I was a kid, I absolutely LOVED All-Star Wrestling. Bill Kersten was the mousy announcer that everybody hated/loved. We had Bulldog Bob Brown, Rufus R Jones, Surfer Jesse Ventura (before he was Governor of Minnesota), Dr Ramey and the Interns, Handsome Harley Race, Danny Little Bear, Omar Atlas, Lord Alfred Hayes and so many others. I would stay up way past my bedtime, with the volume turned down low and I reveled in their antics. I remember Jesse Ventura emphatically telling Kersten one tme "I'll use chains, chairs, baseball bats - whatever it takes baby!!"

It's a whole lot less entertaining in real life.
