@tundrahok i would not have been able to answer that on Jeopardy! I'm not a big NBA fan. But thank you for pointing that out - it does make a difference!
@JayHawkFanToo I'm not trying to be argumentative, but when NBA teams average 105.6 pts per game, it seems as though there's not a lot of defense going on.
Prayers for Coach Snyder for a full recovery. He's a good guy and a great coach.
I still hope we spank K-State every time we play them though.....
@dylans I'm with you - if not for KU basketeball i would save the $250 per month that i give to the Cox suckers. Well, KU bb and "The Voice". Sometimes America's Got Talent. But that's it! American Pickers. Pawn Stars.
@jaybate-1.0 I know you don't believe that !
This late in the season, Is there a fix for bad free throw shooting?
YES
I can go out in my driveway and shoot free throws RIGHT NOW and if i do it consistently I will improve. I could probably improve my FT % by 40% (or more) by shooting for two hours.
Although, it would help if i had a basketball goal in my driveway.
@JayHawkFanToo I got a couple of "Rock Chalks" in the Bahamas last month! God love em.
332 ??
Wow - we've come up a ways from the last time i saw the stats.....
We WOULD blow out other teams if we'd keep sawing wood. Dance with who brung ya. You know- when you get a 15, 18, 20 point lead - how bout doing something crazy and just keep playing the same way that got you the lead in the first place?
I don't know about blow OUTS - but we are the lead-blowingest team in the country.
@JayHawkFanToo I did hear that, but actually I took it in the context of a compliment. I felt the same way at the time. It felt like Frank was having a lousy game, but then you look at the stat sheet and you're like " Hmmmm - if that's a lousy game, I hope he has a lot more lousy games".
It reminded me of when Nick Collison would have 22 pts and 17 rebounds and you were like "really, i didn't even know Nick was playing today?"
@wrwlumpy I agree with you. We suck.
We will probably never win another game by more than one point.
Oh, and if we Do win by one point - IT'S A WIN.
I have to admit, it's pretty darn cute when K-State fans actually think they can beat us. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
@Fightsongwriter I don't know if you're single or not, but some great pickup lines in Manhattan:
You don't sweat much for a fat girl.
I feel drawn to you. It must be your incredible mass that creates such gravitational pull.
You are so sweet, it made your teeth rot.
You look like trash, may I take you out?
@BShark Does the "play hard" chart mean that they can't hit open shots, bounce off the other players like a pinball, slap the living crap out of players that are down on the court and cry over EVERY call made? Even the ones that benefit them?
Plus, they have the advantage of having an extra blocker (Weber) out on the court the whole time.
Since we lead 76-47 (all time in Manhattan, according to wikipedia) who storms what when we win? We have more of a homecourt advantage than they do. Do we storm? Do they storm if they stay within 10 points?
I don't know what to do.
Here's my take:
If K-State hits 18 3 pointers and we have 21 turnovers I will never waste my time watching again.
OK, I'm not chicken little and the sky isn't falling - but I find myself increasingly perturbed about the Josh Jackson accolades when he can't hit a free throw. He is a liability at the end of the game and even Bruce Weber is smart enough to figure that out.
Josh, if you want to make a bazillion dollars next year, just keep doing what you're doing. If you want to have the respect of me, and i'm sure a lot of other fans, stay after practice and shoot free throws for two hours.
@Blown NO ONE
@DanR I went to a KU-KSU game a LOOOOONG time ago in Manhattan. Don't remember the year - probably early 90's. Anyway, if memory serves me, K-Suck led pretty much the whole game and the barnyard boys in the stands were losing what little bit of their minds they had. KU clawed their way back into the game (a lot like a recent game of ours, where the climbing was against us.....)
Anyway (remember, an old man's memory from 25 or so years ago) we were down by 2 with seconds to go, KU brings the ball up the court and Steve Woodberry buries a trey from way beyond the 3 pt line at the buzzer and we win by one.
Apparently I was the only KU fan in the stands that particular evening and I jumped out of my seat, fists clenched and arms raised in exuberance and let out a rather boisterous ROCK CHALK BABY!!
I was not the most popular guy in the coliseum at that moment. I can't tell you how many death threats I received on my way out of there and in the parking lot. I distracted them with shiny new quarters and promises to buy them free passes to visit the sheep at Sunset Zoo.
Good times.
K-State fans are so stupid - you will probably see a sign that says "You aren't in Kansas any more"......
We beat the purple puzzies 94-79. Bruce Weber's mascara will run all night long,
@approxinfinity You won't believe me if i told you. I did the same thing as always - after the game i had to go grocery shopping (although i didn't have much of an appetite......) My brother in law calls and says " I know what went wrong! " Keep in mind, he's serious. I said " I do too, they played like a bunch of pussies in the second half ". He says " NO! I didn't have my lucky hat on - why didn't you remind me? "
So - i guess it is my fault.
@drgnslayr Please tell me you're not really superstitious....
If so, I will quit watching the games at my brother-in-laws house and sitting in the same chair every time. I will quit wearing my Baylor neon green hoodie, quit eating my sour-patch candies during the game, quit crossing my left foot over the right foot when we have the ball and vice versa when the other team has the ball.
Superstitions are silly, huh?
@Kcmatt7 Well, I agree with you also. I think vandalism is stupid and wrong and if he/they did do it, they should be dealt with like any one else who gets caught vandalizing stuff. But, I feel like we're all on edge with EVERYTHING that's been going on (or at least rumored to be going on) around the KU BBall team lately. I hope it's all BS and lies. I've always taken great pride in being a fan of a program that's probably AT LEAST as clean as anyone else in the country. I have secretly wished that we wouldn't recruit kids who, in my opinion, who were "punks", or who had attitudinal problems. For instance, knowing what we know about Grayson Allen - I wouldn't have him on our team if it GUARANTEED us a national championship. I hope and pray that Josh Jackson is not involved in this activity, but if he is - i hope he is punished accordingly.
@Kcmatt7 Of course it's wrong - MOST of the things humans do are wrong. Hopefully he's smart enough to recognize that it's wrong and not do it (or anything like it) again. I don't know the circumstances. I doubt if you do either. Who knows - maybe jealous about a girl? A teenager keying a car over something like that ? - not right, but not unheard of.
@HighEliteMajor If keying a car is part of his repertoire, that would mean that he is human. And young. I never keyed a car, but i did equally (or greater) stupid feats when i was a teenager. I have repented of them, but i did them just the same.
If he in fact is perfect, then he should change his name to Jesus and forget basketball and get on with taking us to the real promised land.
Amen.
i was going to say Danny Manning. I wonder (no googling, remember?) how close he was to leading the country in scoring in '88?
If Josh were to stay in college 4 years, we would be talking about him on the same level with Danny Manning, Kevin Durant, Paul Pierce, etc. Except he would be better as a collegiate than any of them. He hates to lose. Period. My favorite quality in a college athlete. If Josh stayed, his numbers would improve every year (GASP!), he would learn to shoot free throws and probably lead us to the championship game for 2 of the next 3 years.
As a pro - he probably won't be a household name. Why? He will learn NOT to hate to lose. He'll do his job, collect his paycheck and enjoy the fruits of his labor. Winning every game in the NBA is not a dream of any NBA player. Show me the money.

The short bench has really galvanized the team
^ One of two reasons that I don't want Bragg back. If we beat Kentucky and Baylor without him we don't need him. Nothing personal (exactly), but a short bench isn't always a bad thing.
@stoptheflop I'm stoked as well. I just wish we could schedule Texas about 8 times this year.
Yeah. I doubt if we win a game next year. Self sucks.
Screw Baylor.
I may be wrong, but I can't get too worked up about playing a team full of kids so stupid or misguided that, of their own free will, they would live in Waco, Tx and play for Scott Drew.
No malice intended. Well, wait - that's really how i feel.
75% from the FT line = KU win.
That - and if we score more points than they do....
@Kcmatt7 Thanks for a thoughtful response. All things considered, i still feel pretty good about us right now, except for the &^%&($$^ free throw shooting. It WILL bite us in the butt if we don't get it fixed. In case nobody on the team has figured it out yet - they are FREE points. FREE.
Make the dang free throws fellas.

I know our guys are capable of more than what they have shown lately
I'm not trying to start anything, i just don't understand. We're 19-2 and just beat Kentucky on their home court. What more do we need to be doing?
Was this for record loud crying? If it was for cheering, it surely wasn't set in the last minute of the game when their "fans" were flocking for the parking lot!
If we don't need him against Kentucky, I'd say we don't need him.
@drgnslayr To me, it feels like Josh is going to wind up being the leader. People were losing their minds over his " T's " earlier - I was loving it. I love his passion, his hatred of losing. If he can keep hitting some outside shots and especially if he can start hitting FT's - if I were the coach, he'd be leading the team with Frank and Devonte doing the rest.
Replace Bragg with Tyler Self. At least he's smart and hustles.
Keep Streakin
@jaybate-1.0 Indeed, it's starting to seem like the wheels are coming off the track - YET - we're 18-2.
???
@Crimsonorblue22 Thanks - that does make me feel better.
@JayHawkFanToo Well, how much of Huggins $25k is left after the ref's get their cut?
The title of this post made me think - the first time I heard about the 25k thing i thought " Bob Huggins must have no class if he accepts this bribe ". I guess I was right. Maybe all of college basketball should re-vamp the way they pay their coaches. Self would have to take on a part time job to make the house payment. KU would offer - what? - 47 bucks to beat K-State. $104.12 to beat Texas (most years - $35.82 this year).
If i were a coach it would tick me off to be told to beat a particular team - i want W's for every game. Pride in coaching and winning should be enough incentive. Maybe a hike for winnning "X" amount of games, for winning a Conf. Championship, for making the NCAA's and so on - but for beating Kansas? What a bunch of pussies.
@Crimsonorblue22 Yehaw. The drunken hillbillies can probably make some noise, for sure. Isn't their fight song "Dueling Banjos"?

You could tell we were going to lose this game long before the final buzzer.
Nailed it. Even in the first half I wasn't screaming, yelling or kicking the dog (lighten up, I don't even own a dog...) it was pretty obvious how this was going to turn out. I didn't even raise an eyebrow when we went up 59-58. No way we were getting out of M-town with a W.
@drgnslayr You should be pissed off. You missed the best half of basketball. And we were still behind at halftime.....
@Blown Fair enough.
@HighEliteMajor It did seem to me that we tried to attack a little bit. Then after the ball got swatted away several times or someone (usually Frank) got knocked to the floor without a whistle being blown it was like "OK, let's just throw up a 3 and see what happens".
