@kjayhawks Honestly, 75-10 isn't that much different that 56-16. Three more TD's and a field goal. And it does make me feel better to get beat like that. I still haven't recovered from last week where you think "man, one play goes a little differently and we would have won".
And that one play could have been one of about 30 plays. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a debbie downer. That's why i just put the score with no comment. I really believe that will be the score. I think i did about the same thing last week - i want to say i called 65-10 or something like that. And we almost won! If we're close tomorrow, i'll predict 300-0 next week!!! Lol
75-10
@mayjay I'll be ok with 4 losses, as long as the 4th one is in February.
Wish we could set the election back 9 months. At least.
@DanR "It's stupid to try to enforce civility on the stupid"
I'm emailing that to myself at work to put on the little dry-erase picture frame on my desk. That's one of the best lines I've heard in a long time.
Back to the chants. The most incredibly stupid one I've ever heard is the "Over-rated" chant. OH - you must be over-rated or we couldn't beat you. That's the message that chant conveys to me.
I Do like the saying we have at times - You let your whole team down. That's just funny. Nothing wrong with Air-Ball. You throw up an airball, you should frequently be reminded of it.
@Crimsonorblue22 I would never do that! But @drgnslayr has mentioned several times that his wife likes to call them the "P" word. As do I.
@Texas-Hawk-10 IMO, "finesse" may not quite be the right word. Ironically P erry is the only one not playing like..........what @drgnslayr 's wife always says!
@Texas-Hawk-10 I know everyone thinks Perry is soft, but he's been tougher than anyone else on the team, in my opinion. Well, Frank's tough too, but you know what I mean.
@curmudgeonjhwk He would have been better than Self against WVU.....
@drgnslayr "Pansies" wasn't the "P" word that came to my mind....:blush:
@Crimsonorblue22 I know he didn't watch "The Voice". It wasn't on.....
@drgnslayr Or walk 5 miles to and from school. Uphill. Both ways. In the snow. Barefoot.
@drgnslayr This is not a new phenomenon - Self's teams always play like this when they are ranked highly. The only time they get gritty and play the way they should is when they are the underdog. Maybe we should change the field house as someone suggested a while back:
@JRyman Let's put them in tents! Maybe put them on Naked and Afraid for a few episodes. Toughen then up enough to at least compete with the girls teams.....
@HighEliteMajor - The title of your post is very intriguing to me. My best friend actually underwent brain surgery this morning to remove a brain tumor (round two). That is the reason that I'm not upset about this game even a little bit. In the long run, it means nothing.
(Oops. I said "this" morning, it was actually yesterday morning. Too early, too little coffee.....)
We looked like Oklahoma in any bowl game.
I wonder if Huggins bought dinner for Self and the KU team with his extra $25,000?
Shoot - after thinking about it, maybe we should try something different:

I vote - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I certainly hope they don't feel disrespected after tomorrow night.
I hope they feel humiliated !!
@dylans Cancel the meeting.
Or quit your job.
Tom Izzo on this survey. But I'm really Bob Knight.....
Great stuff as usual Lump - worth the wait! haha
No pressure.....
@globaljaybird I wasn't thinking - just asking!!
Speaking of games besides the KU game - is there anyone out there that thinks it's more important for the Chiefs to win today, or KU? Just puttin the feelers out.....
@JRyman
About this thread - I was just thinking to myself "this could be Heaven or this could be Hell"...
@Crimsonorblue22 :o:
@Hawk8086 Because they want to give every possible opportunity for KU to lose.
@Crimsonorblue22 Actually, it just dawned on me. My best friend in the whole word is a very beautiful woman (yes, my wife and her are friends too!) and I've called her "Bud" for the past 37 years!!
@Kong is it 3:00 in the morning ???
@Crimsonorblue22 I couldn't think of anything to girly up " bud ", but I'm open to suggestions.....
@jayballer54
@Crimsonorblue22 isn't a "bud" - she's a "bud-ette" :girl:
@slimshaddy73 WELL - the crazy thing is, if - God forbid, Wayne DID go down, it may not make much difference this year.
A trap game in the Big 12 this year?
That would be like walking through a minefield - blindfolded.
Any team that shows up un-prepared for a Big 12 game this season is going to be in for a long night.
@jaybate-1.0 Five years ago, I would have bet a million dollars that no one on the face of the earth would ever put those words into an actual sentence.
Hmmmmm. I have been blessed with a keen sense of intuition and I'm sensing the teensiest bit of frustration with you ?
What's the job pay? I may not win any more games than the current coach, but I'll bet we have a lot of fun!
@tundrahok Good point! I did not consider that at all. I can be very tunnel visioned. My wife calls it stubborn. Well, she calls is something else, but I'm sticking with stubborn. Can you imagine what Wiggins, McLemore, Embiid and many others would be like as college seniors? Yikes!! Thanks for setting me straight.
I'm sure we all love Wiggins here, and he's doing great in the pros, but he didn't dominate the college game like Hield is doing.
Who's number 1 ?
Well, when I went to bed at 12:30 am Tuesday morning, I was under the impression that KU won the game. After reading a whole bunch of posts for the past couple of days, I think maybe we lost? Still, I go to ESPN and look at the score - it says we won. I'm confused.
I'm a Buddy lover too - but the bottom line is we won, we're still #1.
Practice makes perfect.
Or at least 45%.
@truehawk93 I think we all get preconceived notions about people or things and they stick with us, sometimes forever and sometimes we get our minds changed for us. I know that it is widely perceived that Perry is soft. That's been the word since he stepped on campus for the first time. I've never seen it that way. I've seen quiet. Determined. Humble. Team player. I've always liked Perry and I've said many times that I think he will be remembered as one of the great KU players of all time when it's said and done. Maybe dunking the ball would be a good thing. But maybe it just doesn't enter his mind. Maybe that's not how he thinks. But I think he plays to his potential. That can't be said for a lot of players - remember Andrew Wiggins? Shoot - he should have scored 30 points per game. That's not an exaggeration, it's what he should have done. Buddy Hield is, in my opinion, not as good an athlete or basketball player as Wiggins and he's scoring, what? 28 - 29 pts per game?
Anyway, I think with all the hype of some of our other players right now - Selden, Greene, Mason, well you get the idea - Perry is the glue that keeps this team together. If he is not on the court, we get a lot of " L "'s this season.
Very nice article. This line made me puff out my chest a little (like I had something to do with it)
The setting: Allen Fieldhouse, the holiest of college basketball arenas.
@Crimsonorblue22 I thought he was talking about the standing ovation given to Nick Collison back in the day..... if he did it last night, it must have been during a potty break. Or when I had tears streaming down my face and couldn't see.
@JayHawkFanToo I think Vitale would have liked to given a standing ovation last night, but like me, he's too old and tired. Lol.
@DinarHawk said:
' I do not want to hear anyone, ANYONE, ever say that Ellis is soft and not aggressive"
AMEN!
Perry Ellis was a WARRIOR last night. As of right this moment in the season, we don't win games without him. I've been saying for a while now that when his KU career is done, and especially 5 - 10 years down the road, Perry Ellis will be remembered as one of the greatest Jayhawks ever.
I don't do the game chat thing - I'm not coordinated enough to watch and type at the same time. But I just wanted to chime in and say this:
I'm kind of a KU fan. For about the last 52 years. I've taped (yes, taped) games for years, now I DVR them. I've listened to Max and Bob on the radio when I lived far, far away and there was no such thing as cable TV, ESPN, the Internet or any other form of media except to listen to the radio. I've watched us win two National Championships (on TV, I'm not rich) and I have NEVER been as emotional about a game as I was tonight. When the game was over I literally had tears streaming down my face. I don't really even know why. But it was one hell of a game and I have incredible respect for Buddy Hield. The guy is phenomenal and he seems to be a humble, level-headed kid. Wish he was a Jayhawk.
@KUSTEVE You just did downvote it sir!
I like the intro video, but I listened to the starting lineup announcement on the radio and I was ............ticked and embarrassed. I don't know who the gentleman is who does it and it's nothing personal against him, but it just sounds STUPID. Something I'd expect from the Harlem Globetrotters or UNLV. Just ridiculous. As usual, I'm probably wrong. Does anyone else feel the same way?
@KUSTEVE This is just my own personal opinion, but I think Self takes a fair amount of offense to coaching against someone who really isn't a coach.
It would be like a real politician debating Donald Trump. (If there were such a thing as a real politician) or me being the starting Quarterback against Cam Newton. You just can't take those situations seriously....
