Glad I haven't done brackets for a while. It's stressful enough rooting for KU.

Today's Games Thread • Mar 21, 2021 06:21 PM

@jayballer67 Don't know who to root for in that one. Oregon State named their court after longtime coach Ralph Miller, who was from Chanute and played for Phog Allen himself.

And Sister Jean & the Ramblers upset the Illini. Lord have mercy !

(Equal time for the Baptists...Baylor up next. And Oral Roberts later.)

Prime Time all across the USA

Today's Games Thread • Mar 21, 2021 04:38 AM

@JAYHAWKFAN214 The late show !

Today's Games Thread • Mar 21, 2021 04:23 AM

All in all, a good (if scary) day for KU and alumni, including Tad Boyle at Colorado and Mark Turgeon at Maryland.

Another full day tomorrow, starting with Illinois-Loyola and Baylor-Wisconsin.

Abilene, Abilene,
Prettiest town I've ever seen

In Abilene, my Abilene.

And ACU pulls off the upset of the Horns to spoil the Big 12's unbeaten run. Nice going, Shaka.

Today's Games Thread • Mar 21, 2021 02:04 AM

There's Norfolk-ing way the Zags are going to lose this one tonight.

Bulldogs up by 20 at the half.

Today's Games Thread • Mar 21, 2021 01:33 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 Just caught the last couple of minutes. Didn't see him in the box score though.

Today's Games Thread • Mar 21, 2021 01:28 AM

Christian Braun gets family bragging rights today. Fizzou falls to OU.

Thanks for the info. Glad you could make it there. And at bargain prices no less !

Too easy to blame the refs. EWU has a good game plan...draw fouls and make us even more short handed.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread • Mar 20, 2021 05:52 PM

OK maybe once in a while

Looks like I'm not the only one who woke up late.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread • Mar 20, 2021 04:53 PM

The last time the two teams met: 2007-08 season. 85-47 KU. On our way to the NCAA title.

EWU was having a down year after losing their all time greatest player, Rodney Stuckey, who went on to a 10-year career in the NBA with Detroit and Indiana. They also had a first-year coach.

Darnell Jackson led the Jayhawks with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Darrell Arthur had 15 points. Brandon Rush added 10 boards as KU won their eighth straight.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread • Mar 20, 2021 04:38 PM

Pardon the spelling.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread • Mar 20, 2021 04:37 PM

Spokane Metro anyway.

Oops...still too early out here on the coast.

That Other Team From Spakane game thread • Mar 20, 2021 04:36 PM

Spokane metro, anyway. EWU's campus in Chaney is about 20 miles from the Gonzaga campus.

Today's Games Thread • Mar 20, 2021 04:33 AM

And Huggy wins No. 900 pretty easily to wrap up the day.

Everybody sleep well...another full day tomorrow !

Today's Games Thread • Mar 20, 2021 04:20 AM

No 12-over-5 upset here. Villanova over Winthrop. I guess I can finally give my remote a rest...only the WVA game left.

Good chance for a Baylor-Nova matchup in the Sweet 16.

Today's Games Thread • Mar 20, 2021 01:49 AM

Wouldn't be surprised to see a 13-v-12 matchup in the next round. Winthrop always seems to step up to the occasion. Good timing for them with Nova on a slight decline.

I love random stuff like that. Like KU is amazing at special Ed. You’d never expect it!

I would...the lady I was dating during my KU days was a Special Ed major. We're still good friends; just talked to her last night in CA.

Today's Games Thread • Mar 20, 2021 01:30 AM

No matter how it ends, props to North Texas.

Until now all I knew about the school was that they had a great jazz department. Lots of alums in bands from SNL to Letterman to The Blues Brothers. A couple even played with Frank Zappa.

Oregon State vs Oklahoma State. I know OSU will win that game.

Okie State wins. So much for my upset pick. Flames gave 'em a run though.

....and we're back • Mar 19, 2021 05:32 PM

Tried to log on last night and got a warning notice on my screen. Scared the hell out of me! Glad things are back to normal (or whatever it is we call it nowadays).

First Four • Mar 19, 2021 02:50 AM

Another one-point win. Norfolk State over App State. Up next for them: Gonzaga.

First Four • Mar 19, 2021 12:37 AM

Drake takes down WSU in a damn close one.

Don't know how I feel about this. Would've liked a chance to get back at the Shockers for knocking us out in 2015. Oh well...

(Didn't see anybody who looked like Van Vleet out there anyway.)

First Four • Mar 18, 2021 11:04 PM

Texas Southern advances. So Saturday'll be a full day for their fans...vs. Michigan in the tourney, and just as that one ends, the Tigers football team plays Southern U.

First Four • Mar 18, 2021 08:59 PM

Game #1 : Texas Southern vs. Mount St. Mary's. Winner gets Michigan.

TSU tournament trivia tidbit:

If they win today, it'll be the first time that a Division I school plays an NCAA tournament game on the same day that their football team plays a regular-season game. (The SWAC moved their 2020 season to early 2021 due to the virus.) They're scheduled to play Southern U. on Saturday evening.

First Four • Mar 18, 2021 08:51 PM

Well, here we go...my favorite 2 1/2 weeks of the year !

Gary • Mar 15, 2021 10:31 PM

And the hits just keep on coming for KU fans...

Miles and Long. McCormack and Enaruna. Embiid.

Now the latest: Gary Woodland tests positive for COVID, a couple of days after he missed the cut at The Players.

Is someone up there testing us for Lent ?

Selection Sunday • Mar 15, 2021 04:39 AM

The only other time KU played Eastern Washington was the 2007-08 season.

Gee, I wonder how that year turned out for us ?

Selection Sunday • Mar 15, 2021 02:28 AM

Early line has KU by 11

NCAA Tournament - Automatic Bids • Mar 14, 2021 01:46 AM

So Patrick Ewing's Georgetown steals a bid, exactly 49 years to the day after the Hoyas named John Thompson as HC.

Wonder who gets bumped off the bubble ?

Speaking of anniversaries, the guy calling the Big East final on Fox, Gus Johnson, made his famous "Cold...Blooded" call ten years ago yesterday when Washington's Isiah Thomas hit a buzzer-beater to top Arizona for the Pac 12 title.

Jo Jo just been a beast so far • Mar 13, 2021 04:01 AM

And to cap off this week from hell for Jayhawk fans, Embiid hyperextended his knee tonight after a dunk and had to leave the game. MRI tomorrow.

Big-12 Tourney • Mar 12, 2021 07:08 PM

50 in a half is a lot. I didn’t think they would get that close.

Makes me think of that 50-50 first half in the 1988 finals.

That worked out "OK" for us.
