Morris Dismissed • Sep 29, 2023 05:07 PM

Well, there ya go.
Moving past the criminal element for a second…this dismissal hurts our basketball team. I wonder if Self has a last minute addition hiding in the wings? Need some depth at guard!

And back to criminal activity (or not), I found this paragraph kinda scary about Morris’ lawyer. We’ve had some issues over the years. Wonder how other programs stack up?

Chahine has previously represented a variety of KU athletes in criminal cases, including basketball players Carlton Bragg, Silvio De Sousa, Josh Jackson and Jalen Wilson and football player Pooka Williams, as the Journal-World reported.

I just remember the very loud ā€œfree Dialloā€ chants at the Maui tournament. Otherwise a subtle KU a career.

The Heat have waived Jamaree Bouyea and Caleb Daniels in order to sign Jon Elmore and Cheick Diallo, the team announced in a press release. Elmore was immediately released to make room for RJ Hampton, who will take Bouyea’s two-way slot.

@dylans I doubt you could afford me anyways.

Let me guess. I’m assuming you’re fairly young - less than 35 and recently married. You switched jobs a few years back, which implies you’re not a legacy so name recognition is out for pay bumps. Also you had to switch jobs to get a pay raise so you’re not at the top of the pay scale. Average accountant salaries are about 55k, I assume you’re good at your job and earn 6 figures. You work for someone; not self employed , but that caps Income. Your moniker implies you may be in the KC Kansas area, if so less than 8% of households make 200k per year. Given your stance on overcoming adversity I figure you’d last until it got hot in July at best. 3-4 months pay at 16k per month I can handle. But you’d have to be in the top 5% performance wise to command that level of pay. Let me know if you’re interested and qualified.

I'm available for a 200k+ per year job. I had one of those hand held calculators once years ago, but the battery crapped out on me. Can i train AI to do my work? :)

Thx Farmer. A win's a win. Just putting things into perspective, contemplating our chances against other B12 foes.

Clueless question: Was/is BYU any good?

4-0, baby!

Watching Man City vs Nottingham Forrest, with Matt Turner of the US in goal.

Not going well for him nor the D. 18 minutes in and City has scored twice, beautifully.

49ers/Chiefs: would you rather • Sep 22, 2023 04:51 PM

For what it’s worth, I’d make the trade, Kelce included.
Deebo and Aiyuk make up for losing Kelce.
Kittle is pretty darned good, too.

Agree with @Kcmatt7 that Mahomes and Reed would be unstoppable!

49ers/Chiefs: would you rather • Sep 22, 2023 05:20 AM

Chiefs

MVS, Rice, Toney, Ross, Watson, James, Kelce, Gray, Bell

49ers

Deebo, Jennings, Aiyuk, McCloud, Kittle, Conley, Woerner

49ers/Chiefs: would you rather • Sep 22, 2023 05:14 AM

Would you swap the Chiefs’ WRs and TEs straight up for the 49ers’?

Chiefs signings • Sep 19, 2023 10:53 PM

Yea, i don't think he'll sit, either. But, i'd rather take my chances against the Bears with Kelce out, than have him hurting the rest of the year. But, who knows if that'd even help. Need him to be rock solid.

Chiefs signings • Sep 19, 2023 10:08 PM

Only cuz i dunno where else to post this :)

Chiefs at home vs. the Bears this week.

The Bears are bad. I'd sit Kelce, let him heal his body and mind. Get him ready for the rest of the year.

@AsadZ said in Off-season starting lineup ever changing thread:

@rockchalkjayhawk Below is article from June 20th:

Head coach Bill Self announced Tuesday afternoon that Zach Clemence, a 6-foot-10 incoming junior forward who averaged 1.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per game in sparse playing time over two seasons, is returning to Kansas rather than transferring to UC Santa Barbara.

ā€œI had a conversation last week with Zach,ā€ Self said. ā€œHe contacted me and we were discussing all things going on with him, future, transferring, all the stuff, and he asked me would it be a possibility if he could return, and we discussed what we both thought would be best for his future basketball-wise.ā€

Self and Clemence decided that he will redshirt during the upcoming season. Self said that Clemence could have been eligible to play immediately because he never officially started classes or practices in Santa Barbara. UCSB, following questions Monday from the Journal-World about Clemence’s enrollment status, deleted an Instagram post from May 23 stating that Clemence had officially signed.

Yup, i recall that. I read a story a few weeks back where it was still seeming like a red shirt, but Self left the door a tiny bit open in case of injury or a new circumstance. So, likely a red shirt, but the team dynamic sometimes changes on a dime! ha.

Anyone know if Chris Carter could be playable this year? He's the walk on who transferred in from Cal State Northridge?

We have sooooo many guys on the roster. I can’t keep track.

@AsadZ said in Off-season starting lineup ever changing thread:

@rockchalkjayhawk I heard that Zach is red shirting.

That was the chatter early on about Zach. Sounds like that’s a bit wobbly now?

Interesting Games Today? • Sep 17, 2023 06:18 AM

Whew. Nice to be on the West Coast when KU is playing at Nevada. Glad we won.

Honestly, when I first saw the 28 pt line, I woulda bet the house and took the points if I lived in Reno!

Yea, depth an issue.
Hoping Furphy is playable. Maybe Elmarko and Timberlake can fake it and give Dajuan some rest now and then.

And we're off again! maybe.

PG Dajuan Harris

SG Elmarko Jackson

SF Kevin McCullar (almost forgot about him!)

PF KJ Adams

C Hunter Dickinson

Bench

Smalls: Nick Timberlake / Johnny Furphy

Bigs: Zach Clemence / Parker Braun /

** Even more concern about 3 pt shooting now. And the usual backup PG issue.

Arterio Morris • Sep 16, 2023 06:15 AM

Yea, sure hope it’s not true.

But that’s crappy news for sure.

Just seems like a dark cloud lingering with him around. Truth is one thing, public perception another.

Maybe time to cut bait regardless.

@BShark was in the know…

NFL Season - 2023 • Sep 08, 2023 05:22 PM

After sleeping off that opening day loss…

— are the Chiefs ruining the Patrick Mahomes Super Bowl window by faking it with this oddball WR crew?

IMO: he needs a few dependable receivers he can trust. Spend the money, Veach!

— what was the deal with the RB approach last night? I’m confused. I thought Pacheco was RB1? How on Earth did the stiff as a board CEH get involved so much?

IMO: Jonathan Taylor for Chris Jones? Ha

— Andy Reid. Hmmm. Some oddball play calling and decision making last night? Or was that regular Reid?

IMO: I probably would have done the same on those fourth down calls. You?

@kjayhawks said in Chiefs signings:

@rockchalkjayhawk Toney has had 4 good plays in a Chiefs uniform. I’d cut him and Sky Moore, then trade Chris Jones for some that can catch a cold. That was an absolute embarrassment. Gimmicky run plays that haven’t worked in two years continue to be ran. I’m not a huge NFL fan but the chiefs don’t look like s playoff team personnel wise or coaching wise. I like Reid but he runs this into the ground in a few years just like Philly. I figured they wouldn’t stay at the top forever but that was just point at the TV and laugh bad.

I know it was the first game, with some missing studs and a new offensive coordinator. So, some issues could be expected.

That crazy, overthought run play we messed up was a bad call by Reid. And poorly executed for sure.

But Toney and his drops. Just wow. Others had some significant drops as well.

The defense was respectable mostly. We know we usually have to outscore opponents, so 20+ points wasn’t great against the Lions at home, but not impossible to overcome.

Just excited for the opening game, with a big let down.

Chiefs signings • Sep 08, 2023 03:24 AM

So, let's see, what was i talking about? Oh, the need for an experienced, competent WR...

Anybody change their mind yet?

Oh, and if i were the Chiefs i would simply release Kadarius Toney immediately after the game. Maybe even before the game. Absolute embarrassment.

And can we please sign Leonard Fournette? :)

rant over. sorry.

NFL Season - 2023 • Sep 08, 2023 12:00 AM

I'll accept any WR or TE combination! Even CEH!

Rumor has it that the Lions are susceptible to runs up the gut. So, could be a good set up for CEH.

NFL Season - 2023 • Sep 07, 2023 04:52 PM

Yup, weird, but 100% not on Prime this week.

Amazon, with Prime Video, will be broadcasting Thursday Night Football once again. Yet the first game of the NFL season — the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs — isn’t on Amazon.

Why is that? Well, for one: It’s on NBC and Peacock. And why is that? Because they have the honors of doing the opening game of the season.

TNF will be back on Prime Video starting in Week 2, with the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles facing off. Their schedule will run all the way through Week 17.

All right, Bosa's in da house, so let's get our guy signed!

Chiefs signings • Sep 05, 2023 07:13 PM

And just like that the Chiefs' WR crew becomes way more important...Kelce down with a reported hyperextended knee.

Marcus Adams • Sep 02, 2023 11:27 PM

They musta promised him a dozen wives...

Chiefs signings • Aug 31, 2023 05:00 PM

Ya know, when I wrote the above, I forgot the Chiefs kept Gabbert as backup QB. So, I’da be fine with him as third string. Learning from Mahomes isn’t a bad thing!

That being said, the Chiefs have had a few years to work with him, they must not have seen a great future. His last game was pretty ugly.

Chiefs signings • Aug 31, 2023 04:44 PM

Yea, I think the Chiefs can do better than Buechele.

That’s an important roster spot. Need some experience and skill.

Chiefs signings • Aug 30, 2023 05:50 PM

Doh! Reading this didn’t alleviate my concerns about our WRs!

  1. Questions at wide receiver
Apart from Travis Kelce, there seems to be a dearth of established receiving options for Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. The depth chart predominantly consists of young talents who hold the promise of maybe becoming standout players, including names like Skyy Moore, Rashee Rice, Justyn Ross, and Kadarius Toney.
While these individuals undoubtedly possess serious skills, none have yet solidified their presence within the NFL. Additionally, veterans such as Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Justin Watson, and Richie James provide reliable depth, yet they don't quite reach the tier of top-tier players.
As long as Travis Kelce maintains his high-level performance, the urgency for a true number-one receiver is not significant, though his age does introduce a degree of concern. Granted, there's a possibility that one or two of the young receivers might emerge as dependable assets, but the fact remains that no such breakthrough has occurred thus far.
Should the worst-case scenario unfold, leaving Travis Kelce as the lone standout amidst a sea of uncertainties, the odds of a successful journey to and victory in Super Bowl LVIII would inevitably decrease.

@rockchalkjayhawk I agree but without adequate D Chiefs are not winning anything. We have seen the movie in the past, they just cannot score on every drive, sooner or later you have to stop other teams from scoring.

Kelce. sure. i get it. He's the top target. I'm sure there will be some guys let go who would come in handy.

Chiefs signings • Aug 28, 2023 07:29 PM

Hmm, looking at the WR corps for the Chiefs. Think we need to sign a real, experienced receiver? Not that it matters, but i'd guess a non Chiefs fan couldn't even recognize any of these names. Gotta be somebody out there worth signing.

Wide receivers (7): Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, Justin Watson, Richie James, Rashee Rice, Justyn Ross

NFL Draft - 2023 • Aug 28, 2023 04:54 PM

I hope he’s well.

Chiefs: Sunday ticket or not? • Aug 26, 2023 05:27 PM

Well, I’m debating buying Sunday Ticket to watch Chiefs games this year.

I’m tying to figure out if it’s worth it, but I’m having hard time figuring out what games will be televised nationally on the West Coast.

Anybody know how to figure that out? I’ve been trying…

Anyway, I normally subscribe to the Red Zone, which is AWESOME! But, may upgrade if it seems worth it.

I’ll watch the national games sometimes, but really it’s the Chiefs I wanna watch. So, the rest of Sunday Ticket games won’t mean a ton to me.

@dylans said in Chiefs signings:

@rockchalkjayhawk I’m with you in wanting Chris back in camp. I myself would handle things differently, but holding out has been collectively bargained and is one of the players few tools for leverage.

I also kinda want him to hold out for about 5-6 games so his game day salary goes back to the cap pool and they can sign Dunlap or other Dline help, while simultaneously lowering his franchise tag number. Missing games kinda helps the chiefs in a twisted up way - as long as he comes back, performs, and doesn’t get hurt.

No kidding @dylans ? that's really been collectively bargained? I didn't realize. still hate it! ha.

I think that lineup is close, but maybe more like this:

PG Furphy

SG Furphy

SF Furphy

PF Furphy

C Furphy

I absolutely understand that I stand on this island alone. Most others don’t agree.

Get your butt to work, Chris Jones. You’re under contract and now you’re hurting the team.

One of these days I’d LOVE to see the team just tear up a contract and say see ya, chump. You don’t show up for work under contract, you’re fired!
