Why are the refs letting the Texan guards camp in the lane?

Gonzaga suspended 58 year old Mark Few for their exh game and the tough match-up against Dixie St, but our 20/21 year old player gets suspended for the exh and 3 games. Who should know better about drinking and driving and get the harsher punishment?

Ku Duke … Don’t Sleep on Kansas! β€’ Sep 25, 2021 03:46 PM

16 point dogs to the Devils. Maybe at least a chance for an upset?

Mr. Bean goes to Carolina game thread β€’ Sep 11, 2021 12:24 AM

Come on defense. Stop these guys.

South Dakota β€’ Sep 06, 2021 01:08 PM

Given the poor play by the Oline, I wonder whether KU will ditch the technique of holding the line in the huddle, then rushing to the line of scrimmage for a quick snap. Doesn't that technique diminish our line's ability to settle at the line before the snap? I never played on an offensive line (5'7", 150 lbs), but I'm sure it's helpful for the Oline to study the defense before the snap.

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 01:37 PM

What grade are we giving Scott Fuchs and the offensive line? Call me impatient, but I was going to suggest his immediate firing during halftime. We seem to be the only program that can't field a decent offensive line. During one play in the second half, two defensive players were 20 yards behind our line of scrimmage chasing QB Bean.

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 12:19 PM

Well at least we found our QB. I hope that is something the offense may build upon. RC

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 01:18 AM

All Bean on offense.

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 01:12 AM

OK, we should finally get good field position. Plenty of time to score. RC

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 12:55 AM

Way too much time for the SD QB to throw.

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 12:47 AM

At least the offense is gaining enough to make the SD offense go the length of the field. We need a TO

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 12:39 AM

First Q: 10 yds rushing and 8 yds passing on 1/3 plays. YIKES!!!

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 12:24 AM

@DanR But, I'll learn that dance by half time

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 12:22 AM

Giving SD short fields to work with. Its not looking good.

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 12:18 AM

I can't say Leipold looks like he knows what he's doing.

South Dakota β€’ Sep 04, 2021 12:09 AM

OK, stopped them on 4th and 5. Now let's hope the offense can move it.

South Dakota β€’ Sep 03, 2021 11:35 PM

I'm not sure very many are interested in the football program. Sad. Very sad. But, I signed up for ESPN+ and I'm encouraged by the decision to start Bean at QB. At least he has considerable starting experience and gives us the run/pass option at QB. It's a new season and another new coaching staff. RC

OU, Texas to the SEC? β€’ Aug 24, 2021 07:40 PM

Dan Wannstedt says: Ok St and K State to the PAC 12; West Virg to the ACC and Kansas and I State to Big 10. Good lord say it ain't so.

Frank Clark-Again β€’ Jul 11, 2021 06:20 PM

@approxinfinity More serious under the law, yes. Clark faces felony weapons charges, whereas Hunt's offenses were misdemeanors at most. Hunt was cut from the Chiefs for lying about the incident, not because of the potential criminal charges. Apparently, in California assault weapons like an Uzi carry a longer prison sentence.

Frank Clark-Again β€’ Jul 11, 2021 01:04 PM

As the news gets worse for Frank Clark, I wonder how soon the Chiefs will announce his termination from the team. Clark's 3 felonies seem much worse than Kareem Hunt's transgressions of lying to the Chiefs and battery. But, he's innocent until proven guilty, so do the Chiefs suspend him with pay until the felony cases are finalized? For sure he can't play this year for KC. I sure hope the Chiefs are actively looking for DEs for this season.

Spring Football β€’ Apr 27, 2021 02:39 PM

Anyone planning on going to the spring game Saturday, May 1? If yes, please post a report for those of us who are starving for football.

Spring Football β€’ Apr 03, 2021 04:50 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Unfortunately, money is always the driving factor. I was remembering Duke from a couple of years ago with their first round nfl QB. How does KU get this program turned around? It's possible; Iowa State and Coastal Carolina have done it.

Spring Football β€’ Apr 03, 2021 03:34 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Yes, I can tell the the Big 12 wants teams to schedule more competitive games with nonconference opponents. KState was forced to upgrade its nonconference schedule with USC a few years ago. But, what's wrong with getting out of previously scheduled games like CC and even Duke, then scheduling more competitve games for a rebuilding program? I think the entire Big 12 enjoys keeping Kansas as an easy win. KU likely plays more Big 12 teams' homecoming games than any other team. How can we rebuild if KU is winless every year?

Spring Football β€’ Apr 03, 2021 02:44 PM

Weird, weird, weird. So, while KU football is starting spring practices and has its intrasquad game scheduled for May 1, our first opponent is playing conference games this spring. The Missouri Valley has its teams playing conference games right now. Our September 4 opponent, South Dakota has played 4 games starting February 27 and has several more to play. The good news is South Dakota is 1/4 with several games cancelled. I was looking at South Dakota football in hopes of seeing a vulnerable team for a possible W in 2021. But, SD is playing a freshman QB who will now have game experience when he plays KU on Sept 4. It just looks like SD will come to Lawrence better prepared to play than our poor team limping in with an interim head coach and many of our roster positions completely unsettled. Also, may we please fire the moron who keeps scheduling Coastal Carolina as a nonconference opponent. We need the nonconfernce schedule that KState used to build its program when Snyder started there.

USC Game β€’ Mar 21, 2021 12:26 PM

KU is benefitted by playing the last game on Monday at 8:40 PM CT on CBS. Let's hope Dave avoids early foul trouble. Mitch and Gethro need to be ready to help on the Mobleys. We need this win. Come on guards, hit some damn 3s. Jeez. Oh yeah, KU is a 1.5 dog.

Spring Football β€’ Mar 20, 2021 10:55 PM

Has anyone heard anything about spring football? I haven't looked very much, but I haven't heard one thing.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread β€’ Mar 20, 2021 10:04 PM

Was our defense lacking today? E Wash scored 84 points and shot 50% from the field. I thought we gave them too much space to shoot their 10/26 3s.

Harris and Hope.... β€’ Mar 20, 2021 07:55 PM

What's the chance that Coach starts Harris instead of Thompson on Monday?

That Other Team From Spokane game thread β€’ Mar 20, 2021 07:25 PM

@BeddieKU23 Exactly why I could never bet on games. Kansas let the player drive and score to make it a 9 pt game.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread β€’ Mar 20, 2021 06:58 PM

There just isn't any reason for Mitch to be on the team next year. He doesn't add anything useful.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread β€’ Mar 20, 2021 05:53 PM

I still hate our defense that has a guard in the paint "guarding" the wide open guy in the corner shooting a 3. Terrible.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread β€’ Mar 20, 2021 05:03 PM

Prison Mitch giving up an inch in heighth and 10 lbs to the Eagles' mountain man. The mountain man also shoots 17/52 from 3, 33%.

That Other Team From Spokane game thread β€’ Mar 20, 2021 04:52 PM

Mitch is starting and Self hopes to play Dave 7-10 minutes a half. I have no idea how Mitch will do against Tanner Groves, a W Virginia style mountain man. RC

Oklahoma 8/Missouri 9 is an interesting matchup that I hope the Big 12 wins. 6:25 TNT. I root for all the Big 12 teams, even though I develop great animosity toward them during the season. I could punch smug Lon Kruger in the face; especially after fouling Dok anywhere he was on the floor to win one stinkin' game. But, I'll be rooting for them tonight.

2021 Last Chance U β€’ Mar 17, 2021 01:12 PM

@wissox Its the latest season of Last Chance U on Netflix. This one is a junior college basketball program. I just finished the season. Netflix does a nice job of acquainting viewers with the coaches and several of the key players. My only complaint is that there's not enough coverage of the actual games.

2021 Last Chance U β€’ Mar 16, 2021 12:19 AM

Anyone else watching this? The very best of reality TV. Way to go, Netflix. For a change, this season is a JC basketball team in LA. This series gets up close and personal with several of the players and all the coaches. So far, I have the most respect for head coach Joe Mosely. Wow, what an incredible human being. Watch this series to understand how difficult it is to coach young men and for me a new way to address a problem player like Joe Hampton.

Vaccine β€’ Mar 15, 2021 12:18 AM

@AsadZ Thank you for your thoughts. We are anxious to get back to normal.

Vaccine β€’ Mar 14, 2021 04:20 PM

Yes, Kansas is close to the worst in making the vaccine available. All our family members who live in other states, Texas, Florida, New York and California have been vaccinated, even though they are 10 and 20 years younger than my wife and I. Very frustrating. My brother in law in Texas is in his 50's and was able to get it because he smokes. Sister in law in Florida in her early 50's was eligible because she has a Cpap. 64 and healthy, so I'm waiting. Kansas just didn't seem to get very many doses in January and February. But, its really starting to open up here too.

Rumors β€’ Mar 13, 2021 03:05 PM

Any word from inside our basketball program or players on who's sick? On the status for the NCAA tourney?

We're OK, they're OK β€’ Mar 12, 2021 01:26 AM

Only 5 wins away from tying Kentucky for overall wins. RC

We're OK, they're OK β€’ Mar 12, 2021 01:21 AM

@tis4tim You were correct: OU didn't score 50 in the second half. Only 47.
