Marcus with 17 at the half against spurs. He's on the Knicks. Hard to keep track of them Morii boys.

Dam Devonte G - - -nice start my man • Oct 24, 2019 01:46 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 On TV. Was actually watching world series, and looked at a box score and saw the bulls might win so I watched the bulls choke, but it was exciting watching Graham!

Dam Devonte G - - -nice start my man • Oct 24, 2019 01:32 AM

Since they were playing the Bulls I got to see the nice comeback he led. 2 consecutive 3's, and then a great assist. 10 point deficit down to 2 in a flash!

Sports history is littered with sad tales of can't miss prospects. From HS record setting strikeout artists to QB's who tear up college football, to 30pts, 15RB,10ASSt. guys in HS, hyped guys come in and for whatever reason just don't work out for the rabid fan base that is expecting Johnny QB to lead them to glory. Q sure teased us with a spectacular debut against a final four team but quickly displayed his lack of desire and drive. He looked like he didn't care to me. Sometimes it's injuries, sometimes it's a lack of a good work ethic. Heck sometimes statisticians in some backwater HS get a little inventive with their stats. Q won't be the last to come through AFH unfortunately. I do wish him well.

@HighEliteMajor Nice stereotypes

Border War Renewed • Oct 22, 2019 07:24 PM

@jayballer73 So then we'll kick their tails. It's a game I will look forward to every year. My memory of playing Missouri was it was never a guaranteed win. That will still hold true i believe, especially now that they have a decent coach. Cuonzo Martin is a man I've always enjoyed watching, all the way back to his high school playing days in Illinois.

If Missouri is a crap school then we're a crap school because they're just about evenly ranked academically according to US News and World Report. I hate them just as much as the next Jayhawk fan, they're right down there with the Packers, and Cubs, just below the Yankees on my hatred scale. But I want to play them.

Border War Renewed • Oct 22, 2019 06:39 PM

@jayballer73 The game is for the fans. I want to watch us play good schools. The media will talk about this one. The last time we played them was a big national story.

Border War Renewed • Oct 22, 2019 06:36 PM

@Woodrow Twitter pole I read, as reported by Matt Tait actually shows 66% of fans in favor, as am I.

It's a no brainer good idea. A game to circle on the calendar every year. A game to look forward to. Although I try to watch every KU game, this one would draw more interest than a matchup against one of this years lightweights like whatever directional tennessee school we're playing.

Border War Renewed • Oct 22, 2019 04:04 AM

Yes, I'm excited! If Bill Self leaves, and I think it's inevitable one of these years life as Jayhawk fans will go on. We'll find another coach. Heck, maybe Roy comes back for his swan song!

My Nats. • Oct 16, 2019 09:01 PM

@BShark I'm not a Cards fan, just a Cards admirer.

@justanotherfan I too am hoping for Astros-Nationals. Dynamic pitching matchup it seems.

My Nats. • Oct 15, 2019 10:51 PM

Dominating pitching!

@Kcmatt7 I think I remember that his wife is from Baton Rouge. I'd love him in Lawrence but I'd also love him following his dad's footsteps in Madison!

@mayjay He didn't skip a semester, he sat out an entire season of basketball because he decided to transfer. What is the point of making him sit out an extra 10 games?

@mayjay I respectfully disagree. He did the honorable thing by manning up and trying out the new coach, but whatever caused him to change his mind about him was enough to want to transfer.

I like option 2. Sorry, a little late to the discussion. I'm skeptical we'll win this year anyways, vacating a FF is no big deal to me, keeping the streak alive is important to me because I don't want some team like Duke to break the streak record.

I'm feeling more miffed than usual at the NCAA right now. A kid from OSU transfers to UW last season just before the season began, so he missed an entire season. He was a Thad Matta recruit and decided to stick around, but then transferred. He stayed enrolled at OSU however since he was half way through his semester. The making sure they ruin the lives of youngsters organization said Potter has to sit out this semester of play too. So he'll have missed 3 semesters of his college career. He's not a superstar, he won't lead UW to the final four or anything like that, probably won't even start for the Badgers. Just a kid blessed enough to get a free education and is using it well to have a successful career doing something else. Screw the NCAA.

@pmann, I would say many more recruits know about Kansas basketball than Indiana basketball. I would also say we KU fans are still fresh off the glow of 3 different national championship games and 1 other final four since you lost the NC in 2002, a final four that we were at too. In fact, since your last championship in 1987 you've made 3 elite 8's. We're winning that contest by 17, as in we've had 20. Indiana is a has been. They're like Nebraska football who keeps crowing how great they are based on the 70's-90's. Indiana is like the 70 year old man you see on the beach who everyone's thinking dude, you've lost your glory days, cover that mess up. I live in Indiana. It smells like steel and oil. The whole state smells. There's nothing good in it. There's just trolls there. Thanks for visiting.

My Nats. • Oct 09, 2019 05:14 PM

Still only 2 sub 3 hour playoff games. There's been twice as many 4 hour games. MLB is too stupid to realize that when your premier games require fans to watch for 4 hours nearly every day that those fans, unless they're diehards of the teams playing, are not going to stay up late, or spend fall afternoons for 4 hours watching baseball.

My Nats. • Oct 06, 2019 10:30 PM

average playoff game has lasted 3:31 and generally they've been low scoring affairs. zzzzzzz

Let's talk hoops on the KU Basketball page! (ps put this on the political thread!)

Trouble? • Oct 06, 2019 12:44 PM

Savage Inequalities, a devastating look at how schools differ by zip code and The New Jim Crow, two excellent books on the subject.

Before we moved from Louisiana we lived in a nice suburb of Baton Rouge. Top schools in the state actually and the facilities were very nice. They just installed a video scoreboard that is the largest in the nation for High Schools. Down the road where I taught, in the same parish, our football team and the soccer team I coached had to use other teams fields because the lights caught fire. At a similar school I was at a game where one of the lights exploded, shrapnel narrowly missing a group of students in the stands. Savage Inequalities indeed.

Trouble? • Oct 06, 2019 03:58 AM

@FarmerJayhawk The devastating effects of redlining should be taught to Americans. I'm ashamed that nothing in my world made me aware of it until about 10 years ago. Chicago or Milwaukee depending on whose methodology you believe are the most segregated cities in the country. They perfected the practice of redlining and much of the inner city woes of both places can be traced back to it.

I really believe your post and a few others above contain perspectives that most Americans have little understanding of. As I admitted, I was really unaware of these things until about 10 years ago. It certainly changes perspectives when you start to have an understanding of what ways so many have been intentionally kept down.

My Nats. • Oct 06, 2019 02:53 AM

@wissox I guess it was Michigan St at that final 4 so there was one blueblood still there but Tech shoved them out of the dance.

Trouble? • Oct 06, 2019 02:51 AM

@BigBad When you're having a baby at age 15 do you think you're equipped to give a baby a good name? Not all of my kids were born to young mothers, but a lot were. Just a tip, when you type STFU it really detracts from whatever kind of point you were trying to make.

Trouble? • Oct 05, 2019 11:25 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Great post! Just one thing that happened the other day. I had to call a kids dad because the kid was not doing well in class. I heard the dad ask "which school does he go to?" I was shocked. Doesn't mean the kid can't get it someday, but he has lost the influence of the father, lost the role model a father provides for work, how to treat people, how to maintain a car. He'll probably not have any expectation of inheritances. I could go and on but one anecdote like that says a lot.

By the way thanks for the literacy test idea, I might try it next unit.

Trouble? • Oct 05, 2019 11:02 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 That's powerful.

My Nats. • Oct 05, 2019 10:01 PM

@approxinfinity I agree. THink back to the TTech Virginia final with Auburn and some other new team there. It was really enjoyable since my teams couldn't be there.

Late Night Visitor List • Oct 05, 2019 06:07 PM

I'd have walked out. Pole dancers at AFH? Seriously? I can't believe people are defending this garbage. It's nothing but the crass objectifying of women, many of whom, particular in the sex industry are not there by choice, but are victims of trafficking. It sounds like he went off script a b it so maybe KU doesn't deserve too much blame, but someone had to have known what Snoop was going to do.

My Nats. • Oct 05, 2019 04:06 PM

@jayballer73 You're right, you're not a no one, so I amend my statement, "Other than Jayballer73 RockChalkAllDayLong no one wants the yankees to win other than Fox and people in NY!

My Nats. • Oct 05, 2019 02:51 PM

MLB is awful. I went to more games than ever this year. Watched more baseball than ever. 11,000 fewer balls put in play over the course of a season compared to 2008 is what I just heard. Stupid MLB thinks winding the ball tighter will improve the game. So strikeouts rise and the game is increasingly becoming a 2 outcome game, longball or a K. No playoff games on their premier network Fox until at least the later stages of the League Championship Series. The year the hated Cubs were playing the Dodgers to go to the World Series, you know a pretty historical event, on a Saturday night Fox shows Kansas-TCU football. Cubs Dodgers were on FS1 and I had to try explain to my poor mom how to find the game on her TV because she couldn't find it. 4 games yesterday averaged 3:30 in length. No extra innings. @approxinfinity Dodgers-Nats game required 3:37 to score all of 6 runs total. Dodgers strike out 17 times in one game. Bob Costas on MLB network calling the Twins-Yankees game lamenting that the Yankees will could have to beat 3 100 win teams to win the world series, while the exact same thing is true for the Twins. Twins fans are mad as Hades. I could go on and on, like MLB games do these days.

My rooting interests this round are Nats because of @approxinfinity, Cardinals because it will make the cubs upset, Twins because no one wants the hated Yankees to win another world series, and Houston. Next year the White Sox will be in the conversation.

KU vs. dook • Oct 03, 2019 02:26 AM

@approxinfinity I'm aware of the different standards. It used to crack me up. There was this big doofus I taught that had one attribute Duke liked. He was 6'5" and 300 pounds! I used to see recruiting letters for him from Duke. Used to crack me up because Nick barely graduated, had to beg for extra work the week before graduation just so he could pass my class! I will say, he grew up a lot (not physically!) and ended up playing football at Memphis and actually graduated college so he pulled it together!

KU vs. dook • Oct 02, 2019 03:04 AM

Duke has an acceptance rate of 8.6%. That means their basketball players are elite students. We should be impressed by them.

I'm not impre$$ed.

2020 Recruiting • Oct 01, 2019 04:50 PM

@dylans 4th in the poll and win nothing summarizes it well! Of course referees made sure there'd be no championship in 2015.

@Crimsonorblue22 I knew you'd decline the dual fanship thing!

@dylans I'm recruiting Bucketeers to attain to duel fanship!

2020 Recruiting • Oct 01, 2019 02:56 AM

For what it's worth, the Badgers have picked up 4 4 star players in the last two weeks. That's quite a haul for them. Two are 2020 recruits and two are 2o21 recruits.

What's the season looking like? • Sep 26, 2019 12:47 AM

@rockchalkwyo There was a pretty good article at KUSports which I thought was pretty good, although to be honest, I didn't understand a good bit of it! It tried to answer a lot of our objections like Preston didn't play or we sat SDS for a year, but it answered them in NCAA legalese so I got a bit confused. Their point was explaining (I think) how the NCAA will get around those objections.

What's the season looking like? • Sep 25, 2019 11:26 PM

I had similar thoughts to all three of you. I was curious, can postseason bans apply to this coming season at this point?

What's the season looking like? • Sep 25, 2019 09:50 PM

This whole thing has tarnished, maybe justifiably, maybe, hopefully not, this upcoming season. We are talking about anything other than the 2019-2020 version of KU basketball which really sucks since after such a long off season and with a bitter loss to end the last we were certainly looking forward to getting back to our usual place as a dominant team in the league and the land.

I'm glad you all have kept up with the ins and outs of everything, I kind of lurk, not reading every little tidbit, but I'm really wondering what's your prediction for this season? If we're going to get hammered I wish it'd happen soon, which I know it won't. Then we can at least start the rebuilding process.

But more likely, we'll have this cloud hanging over us all season. Are we in deep trouble or not? We'll have to endure taunts of opposition. Stay off social media at least as it relates to KU basketball is my advice! Might players have a sudden disinterest in giving it their all?

I'm not looking forward to it to be honest. Right or wrong this program is tarnished. It's going to be a long while for this mess to go away.

So let's discuss, what will the 2019-2020 season look like?
