ANOTHER AMAZING KU STREAK • Mar 03, 2017 03:34 AM

@drgnslayr Oh as I mentioned above, KU for sure. It's an easier choice this year as the Badgers have hit the rocks big time and really have no potential to do any damage in the dance. Two years ago with Frank, and Dekker and Gasser, well, that team it would have been tough to see UW lose to anyone. but I'd still have to cheer for KU.

Mo' Throws, No Woes • Mar 02, 2017 08:15 PM

@mayjay I'd be interested too in knowing if going to the double bonus hurt FT percentage or hurt it. Back when Darnell played of course the double bonus was not in effect and ends of games were foul fests.

Lots of stats on that link. Baylor averaging 6000 fans in a 10,000 seat arena, been top ten nearly all season. Pitiful. Imagine if they forgot how to play and became a bad team, well we don't have to imagine, look at Missouri.

Haters, wanna challenge our Conference? • Mar 02, 2017 03:57 PM

For us to challenge for the NC we need NC contenders in our conference that we're playing against. I don't know what happened in the FF with OU last year. We know that was not the team that we played twice in the regular season. Playing regularly against good teams, who want to give us their best shot, is good for us, but it really hasn't led to post season success for us.

When we won in 2008, our league had regularly been much tougher. Texas was a regular top 10 type team. OSU was, ISU was. Not sure you can say that in the last half decade.

Mo' Throws, No Woes • Mar 02, 2017 02:31 PM

@approxinfinity I never saw Darnell Valentine, KU wasn't in the picture for me sportswise when he played here, but wow, that's a lot of FT's.

Does anyone know what Darnell did to shoot so many FT's? I assume they were on drives mainly. No 3 pointers then and multiple FT's.

When I was at KU, he was shooting hoops in Robinson. I was kind of standing there. I didn't know who he was, but he approached me and asked if I'd rebound for him. He was trying to secure a spot in the league after he'd been released and was practicing.

Half full • Mar 02, 2017 02:20 PM

@Bosthawk Back before Indiana got totally decimated by injuries too. And in a game where the officials decided they were going to be really strong in their enforcement of rules and called like 60 fouls. That was such a farce of a game refereeing wise it's hard to draw any conclusions from it.

That was the 1st game where Frank began to cement his place as the POY. He willed us to overtime if you recall.

Haters, wanna challenge our Conference? • Mar 02, 2017 02:12 PM

@jayballer54

Northern Iowa, not Northern Illinois. The Huskies haven't sniffed the tourney in quite a while.

I was going to post what the others have. Regular season wins haven't amounted to much for our league.

13IFM on Jim Rome show • Mar 02, 2017 12:02 PM

@jaybate-1.0 That was real. Rome's an idiot as that clip clearly shows.

13IFM on Jim Rome show • Mar 02, 2017 04:10 AM

My favorite Jim Rome moment was when he kept calling the Rams QB Chris Evert instead of his real name, I think it was Jim Everett. Everett finally had enough and attacked Rome who I've always thought to be an idiot. I might have to listen to him at least interview Frank.

ANOTHER AMAZING KU STREAK • Mar 02, 2017 02:11 AM

@KUSTEVE KU would beat them pretty easily this year I think, which would be fine in case you're wondering!

ANOTHER AMAZING KU STREAK • Mar 01, 2017 10:37 PM

It's interesting to hear of Northwestern hoping to get their first bid. They're on thin ice after being a lock a few weeks back. Personally my interest in the Badgers means I follow two teams with long streaks but somehow KU and UW have never met.

Marcus Morris • Mar 01, 2017 05:23 AM

Nice 37 point, 8 boards and 6 dime outing tonight for Detroit.

@ralster To be honest, I don't recall those, but I believe you.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I'm only remembering the iffy call on DG that fouled him out. What else? I'm the first one to point out when we get screwed by officials, all the way back to 1986 against Duke in the FF. My memory of the 'Nova game was we just never broke their 3/4 pressure press. It led to the turnovers that ruined that game.

@bskeet I'm sure they jump at any chance to justify putting interesting matchups in the 2nd/3rd/4th rounds.

8 Years of Frank • Feb 28, 2017 08:39 PM

@BShark But Markese is only 5'11"!!

Crazy Crazy • Feb 28, 2017 02:33 PM

@jayballer54 Which game are you talking about? Could be the game description for oh, just about any game in the last 2 months!

By your post it sounds like you're implying the NCAA selection committee tries to stick it to KU. I know you're not the only one saying this here. I'm not so sure this is true. I know east coast bias will be cited. Not sure of any other excuses people will make.

NCAA TOURNAMENT ASSIST • Feb 28, 2017 02:11 PM

Normally the second round in a location is cheaper. Fans of teams that lose sell their tickets for the next session. Try to find someone going to the first game/third game and give them some money and ask them to find you some tickets of the team that just lost. Of course that will be tougher for the KC games because if we're playing in the elite 8 then our fans will create a sellers market.

Several years ago the regional final game nearby in New Orleans had tickets for 10 bucks.

@brooksmd got me tickets for the national championship game in 2012 for 50 bucks a piece. He found some fans whose team just lost and bought them for me.

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 04:03 AM

@globaljaybird I truly hope Bragg uses this year as a learning experience, not just basketball, but life, and comes back next year as the player all the pundits thought he'd be this year.

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 03:59 AM

Bragg ought to miss fast court dunks more often, that's the last shot we missed I think

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 03:49 AM

I believe that we will win

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 03:38 AM

Bragg smiling as he sits down after the missed dunk. I doubt Self had seen it and I doubt Self would have been smiling if he'd seen Bragg smiling.

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 03:31 AM

Of course he misses the dunk. This is a joke.

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 03:27 AM

@approxinfinity Well, not really, but I guess it's been a while!

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 03:22 AM

When was the last time we lost on Senior Night?

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 03:02 AM

@DoubleDD Which, the basket interference? Looked like a good call to me.

Senior Night vs OU • Feb 28, 2017 02:59 AM

I'm glad they didn't play like this Saturday night when I was there!

On the Scene Report • Feb 27, 2017 11:04 PM

I looked for you, didn't see you! We had a great time. Sat up high on Texas bench side. If there weren't five of us including two elderly people I would have tried to move down to lower deck. But I was just glad to see them win.

Late report from Austin • Feb 27, 2017 02:14 AM

He was a Jayhawk fanatic. Been to all the big games all the back to the 86 FF. I've got my disclaimers in there, not saying it happened like he said, but if it did.....?

"We all make mistakes and I am not going to pile on him" Mistakes don't get you arrested. Sorry @HawkChamp but i tire of hearing that. Mistakes mean you overdraw your bank account, or take the wrong exit, or leave the coffee pot on. Crimes get you arrested and most of us/all of us here? haven't been arrested. It's pretty clear he deliberately damaged someone else's car.

Meanwhile, feel free to comment on the rest of my post!!

Late report from Austin • Feb 27, 2017 01:46 AM

Ears still ringing from lady behind us who screamed shrilly the entire game except for the times Coleby made her shut up with his offensive prowess.

Good seats were available in the Erwin Center.

I saw Bill Walton. I didn't have to listen to him.

Guy in front of me knows a lot. What he told me about JJ's arrest, not good. I'm glad very selfishly that he's playing for us but if it's true what the dude said, well don't need his sorry story on our team. I'll just live the rest of the season hoping it's not true. No I'm not telling you what he said, would rather not get accused of libel.

The Erwin Center is the boringest looking building I've ever seen in my life. A concrete cylinder. No decoration/paint. Inside wasn't much better.

Texas fans do have some fun.

Half time entertainment was plate lady on unicycle. Amazing.

First game in a long time we didn't have to come back or sweat through a victory.

Did it look to you like Texas gave up? We got the ball with a minute left. They didn't foul. We started singing the chant when I saw that. 9 points is a lot, but crazier things have happened. Hadn't they read the scouting report on our FT shooting?

We got slightly rattled with about 2 minutes left. Josh took a wild stupid shot, they scored, stole it, scored, they had DG trapped in the corner, he called TO. So we inbound the ball in the corner, the toughest spot to inbound a ball and they put no pressure on the pass. Thanks Smart, but that wasn't really smart.

Fans booed at a call once all game. JJ shot missed a shot from the FT line. After the miss, we hear the whistle. I'd have been booing too.

Walked out of the gym with the band playing their fight song. I was singing Rock Chalk to the tune. Fun to see the Hawks win in person, the first time since 1988 for me!

Hello from austin

Burnt Orange Predictions • Feb 25, 2017 10:05 PM

Reporting from the hospital in Austin. No worries just visiting the cafeteria for my adult beverage of choice, coffee, no other food choices near this place. Waiting for my friend to show up with tickets, hopefully she isn't late.

Jackson misdemeanor • Feb 25, 2017 12:37 AM

I'm going to see the freaking Jayhawks tomorrow night, only been looking forward to it since November, spent a wad of cash (for me anyways) and will spend considerable time driving to Austin and eating out, etc, etc. Josh better play Coach Self. I know you're reading this. And if he doesn't and we lose, I'd like a refund.

Goodness I'm tired of reading about legal infractions of our team.

Espn is neat. • Feb 24, 2017 01:24 AM

@Lulufulu The worst thing that ever happened was Syracuse catching lightning in a bottle and winning it all.

Firstly, it was against us which is still my painfullest KU loss.

Secondly it gave east coast media fools reason to elevate Blowheim to legend status which I don't think he is. He's coached forever which is why he has a lot of wins.

Third it gave east coast media the chance to elevate Syracuse to blue blood status. They haven't won enough to warrant that elite status.

My dislike of Duke is different than my dislike of Syracuse. We're peers with Duke. Syracuse is just an annoying little child that doesn't deserve to be talked about when we're talking about bluebloods.

Showing thing in perspective • Feb 23, 2017 10:46 PM

If you'd asked me which team we'd have the best record against in the streak (besides colorado and nebraska) I'd not have guessed Baylor. Maybe I'm thinking conference tournament losses, but it's surprising, and impressive, that we've lost to them only 1 time. Of course knowing the coaching advantage we have in that matchup, maybe it isn't too surprising!

KUBuckets Gets The Ball Rolling.... • Feb 23, 2017 10:14 PM

I met Josh Swade at LSU last year. He made the Ben Simmons documentary for Showtime

Espn is neat. • Feb 23, 2017 09:05 PM

@drgnslayr I recall about a decade ago when the Badgers got beat at Indiana and the loosier uh, hoosier fans stormed the court. UW was ranked highly and Indiana had fallen on hard times. It was pretty interesting that UW had been quite good for long enough and that Indiana had been relatively lousy for long enough that beating UW was a big deal for them.

Graham arrested for expired tag ticket • Feb 23, 2017 05:00 PM

I know it's a minor charge, but arrested means he's now had something happen to him that I'd guess has not happened to most of the rest of us. He was given warning after warning to take care of this I assume with the consequences laid out in front of him.

But, since I'll be in attendance Saturday night, they can't suspend him! Everyone needs to play all 40 minutes, I want my fill of Jayhawks on the court Saturday night!

Because the E stands for EAST. They're idiots. We hate them, but keep watching which is the irksome part of it all.

And syracuse fans are idiots for storming the court. For a 2nd time this year.

One thing Mizzou fans do well... • Feb 22, 2017 07:59 PM

LSU had less than 2000 in attendance last night in the PMAC.

KU vs the Purps • Feb 22, 2017 06:45 PM

@StLJhawk Ugh, we lost to them only 9 games ago? Still in shock over the disaster in Fort Worth.

@nuleafjhawk We should have rushed the court when we beat WVU!
