@BeddieKU23 The design of the building really contributes to it. Large flat walls above the 'end zone' seats. Sideline seats rise strait up, probably 15000 seats on the sidelines out of the 17000 seats. We had to stand to see the game because everyone in the nosebleeds was standing. One kid had a hat that said "The LORD is my Shepherd but Bobby Knight is my coach."!!
I agree with a lot of you that Indiana should be better. They play in a basketball crazy state. Just look at the HS gyms they have:

So how did yesterday change the way anyone feels about this team? I think it confirmed my thoughts. They played like they're capable of in the 2nd half which is really effectively. But it also confirmed my view that they're a bit inconsistent as demonstrated by the 1st half. Some headscratching moments during that time, particularly when you paid a fair bit of money to go watch those headscratching moments! The game also confirmed my view that we've got a shallow bench which isn't a newsflash to anyone. Hoping to stay healthy.
Oh and Indiana fans boo a lot.

Wow, what a great experience! Even had we lost I would have said the same thing. The people were friendly, some good natured teasing. Some realistic fans like this is a surprise to us, you'll probably come back.
We had seats about 4 rows from the top, strange arena with almost all the seats on the sidelines. Could see fairly well, but had to stand the whole game.
The crowd was really loud and engaged the whole time. Like really loud. Fun to experience.
After the game we were about to leave but I said I want to see in the gym once more and we noticed people hanging around and it looked like you could exit from ground court level so we went down there. CBS was still on air so I waved behind Spanarkle so I'm probably on the broadcast. (watching right now). And saw Hunter Dickinson so I said hi, told him I used to hate him when he was at Michigan because I'm also a Badger fan, but really glad he's one of us now, because where would we be without him? Saw a few other players milling about. Then said hi to Greg Gurley, he was cool.
Went outside and there was a bus and Jayhawk people hanging around, this is about 45 minutes after the game. Talked to a few fans, then Brian Hanni came out with Gurley and me and my KU roomate whom I went with were able to chat with both of them for about 5 minutes. We didn't know how long it would before the team would come out to the bus and had 3 hours back to Chicago so we got going.
They have horrible traffic management there and sat in a line 20 minutes making us wish we'd waited for the bus instead of sitting in miserable traffic.
Actual basketball observations. Kansas had 3 guys playing major minutes who'd played in a national championship basketball game. I think it showed in this game. They never panicked or got upset with the silly turnovers or missed bunnies.
There were a lot of strange calls both ways I thought. It almost seemed like the refs would make a call against one team that seemed strange and they'd make up for it by calling one the other way.
The bench just gave us 6 points and well that's not enough. Kevin's maturity showed as he got ticky tacked to foul trouble but played 38 minutes. I think he played the entire 2nd half, much of it with 4 fouls. Kevin also has shown a clutch knack knocking down 3's in crunch time. He may be the only guy who can do that, although DaJuan is making 45% of his 3's this year and hit some timely ones today.
Bill Self is the best and showed it today. Proud to have him as our coach.

Everyone who's not as smart as I am is my pet peeve. Kind of arrogant some of you might say? I was educated at the University of Kansas, of course I'm smarter than almost anyone, except all of you of course.

Reviewing what time on the game clock it should be near the end when the human clock operator shuts it off as soon as he sees the referees hand go up. Good grief stop wasting our time.

Stub hub 'convenience' fees that are more for higher priced tickets, when it literally costs them not any more to process that ticket. They're getting 50 bucks from me tomorrow for the two 50 dollar tickets I purchased, and I'm pissed for the seller too because they're not all of that 50 bucks per ticket back from stubhub.

It's official, Chicago St. 75, Northwestern 73. I actually looked at every schedule in their 40 year existence and didn't even see a win against a major conference team. So does this mean Chicago St. is better than Purdue?
@Crimsonorblue22 Someone named Gerald Gillion. Never heard of him, he has a reputation as a good recruiter. Only one Chicago kid on his roster even though the campus is several miles from Simeon HS and some other powerhouse programs.
@Crimsonorblue22 Oh it will be! I've always wanted to go to the Assembly Hall but wouldn't make the 3 hour drive to just see any game, so the chance to see us play there is just amazing.

Chicago St has to be the worst program in NCAA history. They've only had 3 winning seasons in their 40 year history and two of those were their first two seasons. They've never beat a ranked team. Tonight in the 2nd half they are beating 25th ranked Northwestern in the 2nd half. Imagine beating #1 ranked Purdue and being a first ever ranked team to lose to them in the span of a month?

The last two weeks before the new year are kind of down times for marquee games. Saturday is kind of an exception but that's only because Bill doesn't shy away from challenging matchups ever.

Saw where Tyon Grant Foster is still playing ball. Not sure what's transpired since leaving Lawrence but he played 1 game for Depaul (which I happened to be at) and has surfaced with Grand Canyon and Bryce Drew and playing very well scoring 21 per and 6 boards. They beat National Finalist SD State the other day to garner some attention. Sounds like maybe he could have helped us!
What kind of people have civil arguments about sports on the internet? What's wrong with you guys?
Since I'm still trying to figure out who's on the floor half the time I may not be qualified to answer. So here's my observations
KJ, I do know who he is and he's a blast to watch. Hilarious that misery decided not to guard him and so he poured in 10 foot little flip type shots all night long.
DaJuan is a joy, the glow from the NC game has carried over and in my book he's a hero because of that championship season, although I'm still a little pissed at him for stepping out of bounds in that game. But his story is so great, another kid that was saved by college basketball and will graduate much better prepared because of it.
Kevin has been awesome. He's a fierce competitor and that drive just inspires everyone on the floor. He is the heart and soul of this team right now. His performance against UCONN was legend type of stuff.
The only newcomer I know is Hunter and I still dislike him as a person, but am thrilled he came to Lawrence. Bill would have had a tough time without him.
All the other newcomers I barely recognize still. I'm always looking up numbers and realizing oh, that guy that just bricked a 3 is Timberlake, or the kid who looks lost at times is Jamari, and the kid who's best known for being Christian Braun's brother just did a bit of dirty work for the team. Funphee is a fun name and he, I think it was him, recently actually who made a 3 or something that helped.
I wish we could have played Kentucky when they had their bigs. It'd be interesting to see how HCBS would have game planned that one. Marquette loss was a bit concerning but they are a solid squad.
And they better not screw this one up after spending a nice bit of cash the other day to see them in Bloomington!

@dylans Strangely they beat MSU by 6 on a neutral court and Wisconsin beat MSU by 13 at their place, but yesterday we had no chance against them.
Well this one ain't going on the Mt. Rushmore of great KU victories, but a win against misery is always sweet.
