Any time we get to see Bill going with weird bench combinations not even halfway into the 2nd half plus the walk-ons late is a good game. :D
And this is why I don't care about KenPom or other metrics
Yeah we tanked hard from like 13-ish to 6 minutes to go in the second half. Mostly bench guys and we scored like 6 points during that stretch. Game was never in doubt.

@nuleafjhawk Leipold is reminding me of Bo Ryan. Bo won 4 DIII championships at UW Platteville in the 90's, then got his break and was very successful at UW. He's still the all time win percentage leader in the BIG. Leipold I think won 6 DIII championships at UW Whitewater. He knows how to win and I believe the ceiling is high. I'm pretty hyped, more than I remember being with Mangino.
That is correct. He won 6 national championships in 8 years there. While that program is historically pretty good, those are also their only national titles, so Lance is the only coach to ever do that there.
The future of Kansas football is very bright as long as he sticks around. He is 59 though, so we don't have too much longer, and need to nail the next hire as well.
@Texas-Hawk-10 If you are talking about on3's algorithm that is just based on social media impressions + other unstated factors and is detached from reality.
If there were actual numbers put out there that is something differently entirely but I do not believe on3 at all. For example Kevin's NIL value before the season was set under $100,000. A laughable number. They since increased it to around 800k.
I would agree that Neal is taking a risk though, I was surprised to hear that he is coming back.
I really love seeing KU players get drafted. Especially situations like this. Booker finally got a chance to see the field, for some reason Minnesota didn't play him. Then with Puni, scouts got to see him play at a higher level.

Team has shown they can play very good defense when they feel like it. Halfcourt offense is still a work in progress.
Yeah Yale had 16 points in 16 minutes to start the second half. That decided the game.
@approxinfinity said in KU vs the smart people game chat:
@BShark looks like there are maybe 3 or 4 KU players who would rather be playing bball than anything else on Dec 22nd.
Will say, there is a big time flu thing going around Lawrence. We know KJ was sick before and during Indiana game. Would not be shocked if Hunter has it right now.
The crazy thing is KU has really clamped Yale this half, just can't score.
@KirkIsMyHinrich said in KU vs the smart people game chat:
Elmarko looks lost
Just when I thought he looked better the last two games...

When do we get the lead back? Predictions at what time?
Starting to wonder if we ever will.

@wissox I hate watching foul mismatches like this. It just seems obvious that refs in situations like this will call it one way. We get some like that too at AFH of course, but it's kind of unfair to watch a team just get screwed over by the zebras. 25-12 foul count right now.
It was pretty bad tonight in Bloomington. KU really hasn't had anything like that yet this year.
Some interesting stats here. If only we got a whistle like North Carolina!
@RockkChalkk said in Team discussion after 10 games:
Nah. Nick is definitely capable of better than how he has played thus far. Whatever the reason, P5 adjustments, good ol' fashioned slump, etc, I think the best way to break out of it is to keep playing him and try and boost some confidence. Giving his minutes to Jank would be an even bigger hit to the confidence. We will need him this year, hopefully he can get right soon.
Jank should never get real minutes. I know you weren't suggesting it of course but I've seen it mentioned here and there...and just no.
@BeddieKU23 said in 2024 Recruiting:
All 3 signees are having fantastic Sr seasons so far. Philon and Passmore have only improved their games and raised their stock IMO. Very impressed with all 3 and very excited to see how they fit here.
This is an elite class already. If they get another stud gord/wing as they plan, watch out.
@BeddieKU23 said in Team discussion after 10 games:
Top 5 crowd I've heard on TV away from Allen. I did not realize how loud they can get there so I can imagine that was something to experience. I guess that's what KU coming to town does, great to still know that KU coming to town is a big deal. With that kind of fanbase support they should be much better than they are. Without Galloway's super bowl game they are very average.
CBS even largely mutes crowd noise. Buddies I know that went said it was a great crowd.
@BeddieKU23 said in 2025 Recruiting:
Thanks missed that reclass stuff. Not sure we'll be big in this recruitment given we have Flory.
I think we only take another big if Hunter leaves.
@BeddieKU23 said in Other bball games:
He'll be lights out against KU as he's played well against us in the past. I'm surprised by his numbers so far but I'm not complaining if it continues when he plays us too.
Absolutely guaranteed lol
@BeddieKU23 said in 2025 Recruiting:
KU trying to get involved with Khaman Maluach a 7'2 Center from the NBA Africa Academy. Duke, UK, UCLA also involved. Could reclass to 24 too
Reclass was made official yesterday.
I watched some full FIBA games. Obviously he was extremely young going against full grown men. Definitely a project on offense. Defense alone is enough to make me want him lol.
Jerome Tang told us that Perry is the best shooter in America. Btw he's shooting like 30% against high major comp this year so far.
@kjayhawks said in Chiefs season long game thread:
@Crimsonorblue22 I don’t get why people don’t like him. I honestly think all 3 RBs are good players.
CEH? Slow, lack of vision.
@approxinfinity said in KU vs Indiana game chat:
Seems like this is the beginning of potentially seeing Dajuans minutes regulated if Elmarko and Timberlake can man the backcourt for short stretches
He's played 40 minutes in consecutive games :loudly_crying_face:

Jamari has a long way to go but that kid ain’t scurred.
Need his attitude in Timby and Elmarko lol
Rock chalk!
@BeddieKU23 said in Team discussion after 10 games:
Bottom 5 offense in Self era so far via Kenpom, for whatever that is worth. They can get better and hopefully they do as you said, the sample size needs to be bigger. The early portion of conference play is a lot easier then the bottom part so we might have a chance to get into a groove and keep improving which would perhaps even out the numbers a bit. No doubt they have played a tough schedule and that's played a part in some of it.
Perhaps the one advantage to new teams joining the conference is that KU doesn't have to face every team twice. I did love that format but the last several years certainly made it difficult to have any element of surprise against teams when you face some of them up to 3 times in a season. Perhaps an advantage Self will gain against some league opponents when he doesn't have to face them twice.
The funny thing is we have shot pretty well, it's the damn turnovers mostly.
@dylans said in Team discussion after 10 games:
@BShark Offense doesn’t pass the the test. But the sample size is small. A half dozen games into conference the modeling should get better and the team closer to the finished product.
I agree which brings up the fact that college basketball might just be very stinky. Given this team is winning at a high level.
I think we need to see Elmarko and Furph hunt for offense more to reach the potential this team has.
So obviously it's early and guys like Elmarko/Furph especially can still make strides. However if you want to be alarmed... Our offense if you remove the first two games is 87th in the country on torvik. Of course the schedule has been absolutely insane. 4 top 10 level opponents and another P5 in Missouri. In general that EIU game where the team was coasting hurts this stuff as well.

Saw where Tyon Grant Foster is still playing ball. Not sure what's transpired since leaving Lawrence but he played 1 game for Depaul (which I happened to be at) and has surfaced with Grand Canyon and Bryce Drew and playing very well scoring 21 per and 6 boards. They beat National Finalist SD State the other day to garner some attention. Sounds like maybe he could have helped us!
Heart issue. Missed the last two years because of that and was just recently cleared to play again.
Tylor Perry will likely be suspended soon for taking Tomlin to the protest.

It’s like the guy that created a fake football recruit a few years ago and got him rated in the top 100. Half of the crap the news shows is word of mouth. Very few are actually on the scene investigating such. “If you watch the news, you are misinformed. If you don’t you are uninformed. Which is better?” -Denzel Washington.
Yep.
It's really embarrassing for WIBW though imo. They are supposed to be a news outlet. CONTACT KU BEFORE RUNNING THAT TO VERIFY. IT IS NOT HARD.
Journalism is DEAD.

Man it's a bad day to be a KSU fan. First their golden boy goes to A&M now there are rumors Tomlin is out the door
You seen Fitz melting down yet?
@rcjhdraft said in Other bball games:
Also I didn't realize that Jaylon Tyson was putting up over 20 a game after becoming eligible. We really hit the worst outcome possible in the portal
In the case of Tyson, he didn't want another hard ass head coach. We did try.
The biggest upgrade with Ingram as a 4 would be the ball handling imo
Jerome Tang is on a heater today. First he complained about attendance being low, then he complained about the big east challenge forcing him to play a real game 🐦 View Tweet
He really wants it both ways. Even the KU crowd wasn't really juiced for EIU.
Iowa State being #13 in the NET is hilarious
@BeddieKU23 said in 2023-2024 Statistics:
Kenpom hates this team currently. The Eastern Illinois game really hammered them negatively.
10 after beating the #4 team in the country. Guess who's still #4, UCONN on Kenpom.
I understand how Kenpom gets to their numbers but it's certainly not going to make any sense when you look at the results.
Kenpom says we are the 4th best team in our own conference with 3 wins against ranked teams. Let's you know how flawed it can be.
The EIU game should be bad for us but it was clear to see it was a super low effort game with minimal game planning at all.
KP is absolutely delirious right now with regards to BYU...

Bowls aren't as good of an indicator as early season non-con games imo. Too many players sit out bowl games, or team doesn't care etc
Probably true in This day and age
Yeah unfortunately it is. I've seen good teams just come out not caring because they barely missed the playoff etc

This is why Nick didn't play.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in Other bball games:
@BShark then we could review everything. Or I guess you could get 2 reviews.
I found it weird because they seem to review so much in the last minute or so anyway. But yeah, maybe a can of worms they don't want to open.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in Other bball games:
See the TCU game?
Miller was definitely out a bounds. A shame that couldn't be reviewed.
@Woodrow said in Other bball games:
Wild day of hoops. Great sports day so far!
ELITE day of college sports holy moly.
@Bosthawk I think Bill will pick and choose when to try and get the team that amped up. I doubt we see that kind of defensive effort every game. Especially considering the short bench.
@approxinfinity said in Is McDowell injured? Dnp against UConn. Furphy showed some improvement. I hope for steady improvement!:
@BShark 15-16 from FT line for elmarko is massive. We need that badly
For sure, and tells me his shot isn't broken.
@approxinfinity said in Is McDowell injured? Dnp against UConn. Furphy showed some improvement. I hope for steady improvement!:
@BShark i think its because Elmarko appears to not be able to shoot the 3.
If he sticks it out I think he is a guy that gets into the mid 30s later in his college career. Game needs to slow down for him. Think there were some good signs last night outside of the bad turnover late.
Furphy and Elmarko are pretty close to legit contributors at this point. Just need to see a little bit more improvement and consistency.
