Yup. Part of this is on Self but otoh he has missed on some top targets, guys that can shoot. And we know now that missing on guys ain't because of anything he is doing.

Dotson is playing himself into staying or at the very least not being draftable.
Marcus Garrett is a bench level player. That he starts and plays big minutes while being a detriment to the team is incredible. I am aware he has 8 of the points tonight so far but my comment stands.

@BeddieKU23 if Bill tries to play the same way no doubt Greensboro will employ a similar defensive strategy. They may not have the horses to pull off a win but I would be disappointed if Bill didn't adapt at all.

@kjayhawks wonder if Bill learned his lesson. Jacking threes is so much better than trying to force buckets down low. Even like 32% from three on a high volume would be fantastic if it meant low turnover numbers.
@Woodrow Eh, kids that want to play in college should be able to. NCAA needs to get a grip before doing what RJ did becomes the norm. If the NBA gets soccer style academies going like they want that will be the end of it anyway.

I'm not sure if Bill is a top defensive coach anymore tbh. Beard and Bennett are definitely better.

@BeddieKU23 I think they played good defense but Devon was nervous and still hurt. Combine that with the fact that KU's offense made it easy to defend and I would tend to agree Duke isn't a defensive juggernaut.
@dylans I think Duke did a great job and executed their defensive gameplan.
I'd press KU too after that Duke performance.

Without the threat of outside shooting (which hopefully will improve when Moss can play) and two big guys that can't step outside and hit a shot (and/ or pass well) this will likely continue. Can Bill get the team to that point this year is a valid question. I would agree if they can get there then this team can be very good.
This can't continue if we want this team to reach its potential. Duke destroyed KU's "offense" last night when KU tried to feed the post. It's clear that Bill seems to think it is option A-Z but if the team doesn't have good entry passers and the bigs don't know what to do with the ball then the whole thing goes to crap. I think we have some decent three point shooters but Self needs to be okay with them letting it rip.

We would be a better team with Mitch available but you have to understand that this was entirely his decision to get his post grad year and a half (he should graduate this semester) paid for.

I think this team can still be very good but it's not going to necessarily be fun to watch. Many wins can be had off of defense and rebounding. Cutting the turnovers down is massive. At least bricking a bunch gives a chance for rebounds.
@Woodrow I think there are many people very down on the team. I would agree Duke isn't very good. There are problems sure but but it's still just one game. I want to see how Self and the team respond. They need time playing together and Self could change things up. If this team still looks like this in February then we have a problem.

A lot of time over the next three games to get healthy, correct some stuff and try to figure out rotations.
