Everyone is talking about us getting both Hampton and Walker. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't they both PGs? I don't think that we'll get both. Do think that we will land Hampton or Walker (whoever commits first and I think it will be Hampton) and Tucker, though.

Walker isn't really an actual PG. He's a BIG power guard.

So, first the Bulls rumor was squelched.

Now: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26634254/popovich-negotiating-new-contract-spurs ↗

Not that I think the Spurs would turn to Self but obviously that will always be a rumor due to Buford.

@BShark It says in the Comments section that Duke doesn't have any scholarships left to offer. Do you know if that is true?

It's true but...you always have room for RJ Hampton. They'd mush someone for him, but I don't think he goes there.

RJ Hampton

Kyree Walker

bigger gap

Tucker

Noted.

Just passing it along! If Memphis gets Watford, Precious will not go to Memphis. That could be interesting.

Barring him getting a first round guarantee Dotson will be a Jayhawk next season.

Yeah I should have actually stated my thoughts. Precious is probably the least interesting option to me that KU is in on. He's just too raw.

Also isn't Watford going to LSU? Seems like that is all but done.

How did the Chiefs do in the draft? • Apr 29, 2019 04:01 PM

Kcmatt7 said:

My personal grades:

  • Hardman - C - He fills a need, but Chiefs are acting like he's the next Percy Harvin. He does have a valuable skillset in his speed. His ball tracking should be a good combo with Pat. I just don't like trading up for guys in this area usually. However, it is hard to say this was a reach. Word has it the Colts traded up to get him, but then we traded one pick ahead of them. I just don't like the front office's affinity for "gadget" guys. So the only thing wrong with the pick is personal preference.
  • Thornhill - A - If he can come in an start right away at FS, this is a great pick. No other way to look at it.
  • Saunders - C - I think we could have made some moves to get into the 4th and gotten him there. Had to reach in the 3rd because we didn't have a 4th. Basically made swapping picks with the Seahawks worthless. But, this is a guy with some fun upside...

Hard to grade anything after the 4th round imo. But the RB they drafted had a great PFF grade and Andy has had good success with late round offensive lineman.

Overall, a B-. I would have rather seen then keep their 5th and just take whatever WR was there at 61 (Butler and DK were both there). But it is what it is.

I've never been as sure of a 6th round pick. Dude is an Andy Reid RB.

@BShark I do too, but that’s only one starting guard with another 2-3 starting guard spots depending on team make up. Plenty of pt for more quality guards.

I don't think you can add RJ, Walker and Tucker. Honestly though it sure seems like Tucker is Auburn bound anyway, and UNC is involved as well.

UNC is out. They took another grad transfer at the same spot.

Ah good to know.

I would be stunned if Walker and RJ didn't both reclass.

KU is in a great spot here.

@BShark I keep reading that Mechole is a burner with a small catch radius. Parris ran the 40 in the exact same 4.33 time. Maybe he plays faster than his 40 time. I didn’t notice the cone drill time. That’s what killed DK Metcalf. Super stiff.

Yeah that's going to be the player that is always right there to be compared with Hardman. Campbell is much more of a finished product right now.

Saying he needs a point guard makes it sound like Dotson isn't returning. Not a scenario we'd like to have

I think this is just Slick Billy at work.

How did the Chiefs do in the draft? • Apr 29, 2019 01:27 PM

@BShark I wonder why they liked him so much better than Parris Campbell? The prognosticators like Parris better, but Veach trades up to get his guy. Usually when he trades up it has ended up pretty good - Mahomes and Hunt come to mind.

He has unreal speed and they think they can turn him into a football player.

The one pick I absolutely love is Darwin Thompson. I get that RBs basically aren't valued at all now but this guy is going to contribute year one imo which is nuts for a 6th rounder.

Thornhill should start immediately, like that pick as well.

Is the staff selling the 3 spot to Walker and Hampton? I thought they’d both want to play on the ball.

From what I can tell they are selling Walker on BIG PG. Who will play with a more classic PG on the court at the same time. All they have to do his show him Marcus Garrett KU tape and say this is the role.

KU offered Josh Hall, a 6-foot-9, 190-pound junior small forward from Moravian Prep Academy in Hickory, North Carolina. Norm primary here.

Hall, the No. 139-rated player in the recruiting Class of 2020 by Rivals.com, is considering KU, Oklahoma State, Florida, North Carolina State and others.

"They just have had really good success with those guys and he told me I remind him of the first time that he saw a young Brandon Ingram.”

He's from Durham LOL.

So I guess we have to hope he is good and develops but not good enough to get a Duke offer...

I think the real question is can KU match the offer. Also if that stuff about him wanting to play a lot right away isn't fluff KU might not be the best choice for him.

Agbaji

McCormack

Lightfoot

Enaruna

Braun

McBride

Could see Dooley or Martin get him I think he'll be a solid contributor somewhere.

Can't blame him honestly. He's been recruited over every year he's been at UNC. Honestly if he's a grad transfer I wouldn't mind taking him just for depth. We really lack ball handlers (among other things) right now.

Given UNC's rigorous course work...maybe!

For those of you that follow KU recruiting closely does it seem like this past year there has been almost no coverage of it? There just isn't a good site that provides any information on updates on any of the recruits that we are after. I just never read anything about who we are visiting how visits went and such. Holyfield visited Monday and I literally haven't seen one word about it.

The only information I really ever see is from Corey Evans or Eric Bossi and it is usually in their little weekly write ups. Just is a lot different than it used to be.

Matt Scott was the only guy with any real connections but obviously he wasn't without fault. The guys at 24/7 now are just beat reporters.

And even Matt had his faults... I don't doubt he did his best, but he was often a tease and his CB picks weren't reliable. He rarely staked his name to a definitive statement.

The problem may very well be that we as a KU collective have not jumped to a single site to generate enough traffic and revenue for a sports site to justify hiring a beat reporter. RR is THE place to talk about UK basketball. DD is pretty good as well from what I see.

We have people on LJW, the Phog, SB Nation, here and I'm sure a few other places. If we combined everyone, it would be as toxic as RR. But we might get a legit reporter... So there is a give and a take to it all.

For a stark contrast look at the Maryland 24/7 forum, it's huge.
