Speaking of Kyree Walker, Jerry Meyer just put in a CB pick for KU.

No reason for KU not to make a big push. Kid is super entrenched with Adidas as well.

Zion says HI....Never hurts that he's on the grassroots program probably being influenced to stay with Adidas though. I also get we are talking about two completely different people. Zion had a big brand and was going to be tough to retain. Walker from everything we hear is much quieter and may just enroll somewhere (KU) without much fan-fare

If we wanted a sit-out transfer I'd take a hard look at Arizona's Devonaire Doutrive!

Odd situation. Main Arizona insider is saying it's not basketball related. He followed up on that with more info but it's a VIP post on their board so I can't read that.

He's a good developmental prospect. I think he'd be a good take.

Thanks for the additional info I didn't do my homework on him. I do however remember him being an odd choice for Zona and he was recruited over even though the fanbase seemed to like him and was hoping he'd get an expanded role. I have no idea where he might go next but if KU was in the running to fill one of the spots with a transfer we could do much worse.

Hauser brothers went in different directions. Older bro Sam to Virginia. Younger bro Joey to Michigan St.

@rockchalkwyo

I certainly wasn't shooting the messenger (you) over what you posted from Rivals. Evans tells us what we want to hear without being plugged into the situation beyond what most are as well. I hope he's right about Wilson, we could certainly use his skill-set for next year and the future.

@rockchalkwyo

Evans hasn't been right yet to my knowledge regarding anything with KU. He makes a decent case, one I think is general knowledge though. There's a chance Wilson could start or play a lot as a freshman.

@jayballer73

No surprise on the first

Iowa St was looking for another scoring guard for this year. Looks like they found him

Odd .. if Grimes thought he should be playing PG, he committed to KU after Dotson committed. Not sure what his camp thought.

Yeah very good point. Their fault from the beginning. And Dotson beat him out for that spot.

Not that it was really in doubt but Silvio has confirmed he officially removed his name from the draft and will play for KU next year.

Nice to see someone actually hold their word. It's a lost art these days

@KUSTEVE

I'd let doke be pg before thornton

@BShark

True on scholarships. I guess I'll wait and see what happens. Never seen a recruiting cycle like this one and I hope we never do again. There isnt much fun in following this the way it's gone if that's how it's going to continue

So who else is recruiting Walker? Hard to imagine other programs not going after him with both bags available.

Just Arkansas. If Nike were to win Memphis. But if he is reclassing KU would be the driving force since those two schools are full.

Not buying it, no player that good would stray from pitches from other schools.

@BeddieKU23 - hope springs eternal. Q did well at point in FIBA games.

In High School yes. In College the product was less then appealing. I cant imagine even if he comes back and Dotson didn't that he'd be the choice to run the team. His passing and vision was suspect at best most of the season.

I agree he used KU and a few other programs, mostly KU though. I'll never mention his name again

His father wanted the payday too, lets not forget helicopter Rod here

SILVIO IS FREE • May 26, 2019 01:55 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10

That situation is close, initially clearing a player to find out later on he wasn't.

The big difference with Rose if I'm remembering right is that the NCAA did inform Memphis of some issues and they played him anyway.

Let's just hope it's not a situation where they say "oh yeah, sure. The kid can play. Oh and by the way here's your post season ban...."

How could they? They were wrong, and the review committee all but admitted as much.

@Marco Well, quite easily. The review made Silvio eligible for the 2019-20 season. It did not suggest the 2018-19 season should not have been a suspension.

To do so would have been to allow SDS to treat 2018-19 as a redshirt year. He lost that season eligibility. He’ll be a junior not a RS sophomore.

The appeal didn’t say the NCAA was wrong suspending him, it just reduced the suspension from two seasons to the one he served. He still got a suspension (one season).

So we played an otherwise ineligible player in 2017-18. @cragarhawk hit the nail on the head regarding the next concern ... and of course, us “winning” the appeal against the same folks determining our sanctions is less than appealing (pardon the pun).

We played an eligible player. Everyone cleared him. I'm not saying that they cant go back and say he wasn't eligible, they do that. Like taking away wins from teams that already won them and then saying they don't count. It took a FBI investigation to find Silvio's issues. We stopped Billy from playing. I hope that plays in our favor. It feels as if KU would have done the same with Silvio if they were privy to the payments allegedly given to fenny

So, if someone knows, what PG is standing in RJ's way at Memphis? Dotson returning wouldn't be an issue? Just being pessimistic right now.

Boogie Ellis- 5 star that decommitted from Duke. Their 3rd leading scorer from last year Tyler Harris is there too

SILVIO IS FREE • May 25, 2019 02:26 PM

We need Dave. Azubuike hasn't been healthy for more then 20 games in a season.

Too early to start discussing how Silvo and Doke will coexist when they're on the floor at the same time? My hope is that Silvio's secretly developed a trey and the foot speed to guard on the perimeter.

It may not be the perfect 1-2 combo but Self will figure it out. Having 2 legitimate bigs to run offense through makes it easier for him to scheme and develop the team.

Great news.

Now we should hope that RJ and Wilson aren’t a package deal. Wilson wouldn’t jump here now, would he?

I believe Jalen said he was intrigued by the SF spot at KU. Given his scoring ability and size he would fit that spot in Selfs offense better then any guard coming back. I hope that's what sells him to come here besides the fact his good friend is likely coming as well. Never hurts to have 2 recruits who have a connection.

Negative thoughts! everything else about this situation

DeSousa Tracker • May 24, 2019 04:13 PM

For those that don't twitter, Silvio had his hearing today. "decision in matter of hours, not days".

Kelli Zinn had to recuse herself from the case. Chair of the reinstatement committee. Due to possible perception of conflict. Zenn is an executive associate athletic director at West Virginia

Ryan over at the Phog dropped these nuggets regarding Grimes.

Small fwiw, but if Grimes goes back to college it won't be at Kansas. Have heard it's possible he opts out and transfers, and now there are a few in the national NBA/Draft media that have mentioned it as well.
I think there's virtually no chance at him back at KU unless Dotson isn't coming back AND Hampton isn't joining the roster. Even then, I'm not entirely sure those bridges aren't burned.

I feel bad for Grimes. I really do. It seems as though his inner circle is filled with delusional people who have and will continue to fail him. He should have never even declared.

This is one of my favorite movies, and this quote all too often comes to mind...

But what if this is all on Grimes himself?

I suppose it's possible. But either way, whoever raised him let him get too big headed before he ever got to KU then. There was clearly no backup plan in case he struggled.

Do you think most players in his position have the same attitude? Isn't it kind of rare to find those OAD types that have no ego and are humble? It seems rare to find them but I could be wrong. So I don't know that Q is acting any differently then most kids in his position would. I know none of us on here are experts when it comes to the draft and what these kids should do with their lives but I can't imagine many KU fans agreed he was ready to jump to the pro's. Somehow someway he and his camp thought so and now reality has started to set in...

This is how we got Malik Newman and that worked out okay for KU. Hopefully it works out for Grimes as well wherever he ends up.

That is so true. Unfortunately the shoe is on the other end this time.

KU may still hold an edge since he did get his release and doesn't have a relationship with the new coach at this moment. That's about all the optimism I have. Michigan hired quickly and made a good choice given their options at this time.

I also think this cycle has just worn us all out. Its the end of May and we're the only program in America with so much uncertainty still.

New 2019 Recruiting • May 23, 2019 11:14 AM

I would be surprised if he did. It sounded good at the time though
