Really seems like he made that jump from last yr. I think showing he can play PG with his scoring ability has changed his ceiling
Great attitude on this kid. Really hope this season is rewarding for him
Will be interesting to see if De Sousa has added any range away from the game for a year. He was one in HS that showed mid-range potential but didn't use it at KU. From what I remember his FT % and stroke looked pretty good.
Overall transfer numbers have reached 2018's. May hit a thousand before the fall
KU has recently offered and looks to be recruiting Top 50 PG Karim Mane of Canada. A 6'5 PG might fit the combo mold Self likes to recruit. Will be one to monitor

KU will be playing with 2 bigs at all times because KU currently has no depth in the back court and 4 frontcourt players that will be in the rotation next year.
The current group KU will be rolling out (Dotson, Grimes, Agbaji, Silvio, and Doke) as the starting 5 should have KU as being one of the elite defensive teams in the country next year. KU will have at least one, and usually 2 rim protectors on the floor at all times. That means Garrett and Agbaji can be ultra aggressive in jumping the passing lanes for easy steals and transition baskets. Because of the defensive abilities of this team, they won't need to score 75+ to win games. A lot of KU games this year will be first one to 60 wins and we need to accept that and embrace that mentality because that's the strength of this team next year is the defense.
I assume you meant Garrett in the starting 5 instead of Grimes. Grimes can't help us from the bench of his unknown destination.
It will be interesting to see if KU tries to slow tempo to keep possessions lower then normally expected from Self teams. I guess we won't know until the final roster is set and any comments Self may make this summer into fall about what plan he has

@BeddieKU23 Like it or not, Marcus is going to start. And play a ton. We have to have his ball handling and passing skills in the lineup. Like you said, with 2 bigs, we have to have some great passing.
Very true I expect he does start for obvious reasons. I'm excited about Silvio/Doke in the post but we have to have guys that can get them the ball, in the right position.
College Basketball is so hilarious now walk-ons transfer
The passing on this team will have to improve by a great deal this year if we want the 2 big man set to work. Dotson has work to do in that area and everyone else returning does as well. Imagine if he can get to a similar level that Cassius Winston was at last season, had the ball on a string and had his defender in retreat mode all the time either setting up teammates or finishing on his own.
If Marcus wanted to add another level of value to this team this is a good place to start.
TCU took on two grad transfers, I believe both were more in the mold of combo guards compared to Davis. They also signed an Australian PG ranked #137. Either Dixon knew he was leaving and signed the transfers or this could have been due to signing them. Whatever the case it's not a good look for the program how many kids have transferred out.
As of today.
Bubble wrap him, bubble wrap his wrists, whatever they do just bubble it up.
Not that anyone cares but Jahvon Quinerly picked Alabama. Nate Oats has a chance to get the best of out of him, if he can mature
Big loss for TCU, Kendric Davis their projected starting PG is gone
Sorry, Jaevin Cumberland picked Cincinnati after his brother backed out of the draft and returned for his Sr year. Nati going to have one heck of a back court
Wasnt that also the game one of their guards traveled about 20 feet before putting up a prayer 3 that won?
Dedric wasn't listed in the latest mock draft by ESPN. Certainly seems like his stock has dipped since going through the combine again..
Tucker's attention to social media didn't help us.
He has his UNC visit followed by a decision. I figure they are going to keep quiet until the decision is reached. Hopefully some info from the staff leaks out about their confidence in getting him

I gave up. I can't believe that one kid played us. What a jerk! Everyone thinks it's ok. (Twitter) karmas's a 🧟♀️
Its pathetic what happened but that's the times we live in
Nah'shon Hyland will choose between Uconn and VCU next week. No KU here
That's a big dude who can run the floor. Interesting
I don't think KU is doing anything different then normal at the moment. They chased a mix of top talent and rising talent in the spring. I think we'll see that continue this summer as they evaluate the class. What I don't see right now is any real clear "top targets". KU has work to do in impressing anything right now in 2020.
KU figures to replace Devon Dotson, Silvio De Sousa and graduates Azubuike & Lightfoot from the upcoming roster.
If everyone else returns that we know that only leaves KU with 6 guys. KU will need immediate talent. I think they will recruit like they have a blank slate. Nobody on the roster is safe from being overrecruited right now.
ugh

cool story. big fan of him already. I do think he plays next year as a bit of spark plug offense. Might have a role similar to what Vick did earlier in his career
I could see us needing that. I think he'd be a great fit at the 2 next to Devon. Adds another shooter and he has incredible range.
Indeed. He might be only 6'1 but he jumps high on his shot. I love this kids play making ability and I think he carves out a role. How he defends probably decides if he's the immediate back up to Devon
I think his comment is being a little overblown. I have no problem with kids making statements like this before they hit campus. I think what sticks out to me is he knows his value right away especially at KU. It's hard to imagine he starts over Agbaji or Garrett at this point but there is a 15-20 + minute role available that would otherwise go to another freshman or two. So if he's okay with immediate playing time as the first wing off the bench until he proves to the coaches that his value exceeds one of our veterans that seems like a perfect marriage. Who starts the game isn't the same as who finishes especially with Self. Wilson does have skills that KU needs immediately and in the rotation. I hope that he agrees

I'm just happy KU is on his mind

Made Cunningham’s top 10. I think we’re in the top tier.
What's your thoughts on Oklahoma St? What's driving that, connections or cash
Some of both. He’s a Texas kid so I can see the appeal of playing close to home.
I'm just surprised that's an actual school hes considering behind the scenes. I never gave it thought he wasnt going anywhere but a blue blood so this is surprising
Love the confidence. He also said he wasnt a OAD and wanted College to develop himself. Ill take that type of player all day

@Kcmatt7 I think Wilson is much more ready to contribute than Enaruna from day one but I could be wrong.
I agree here. Enaruna didn't even start on his HS team (although loaded) still points to a player that needs time to adjust.
Wilson has a college ready body for the most part. Great size for the wing position and is a scorer with a dependable 3 point shot. I can't see us relying on Ochai solely to provide shooting, it just doesn't work that way.
I have always been under the impression that Wilson has been undervalued. He's not OAD ready but he's skilled and can shoot. This is a guard in a 6'8 body. He would have played a big role at Michigan regardless of roster so I don't see how that doesn't translate here as well.
Certainly a mutual parting. I'm going with Self nudging the door open
Any additional signings- Wilson and Walker would fit in with this team's makeup. Walker I've seen can be a bit feisty but that's something Self can work with. Wilson seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
So we have 7 guys back with experience. All 7 have started games at some point in their career of have been career starters. Good for continuity and some chemistry.
That core 7 can win this team 20 games or so.
Shooting is still a huge concern. The 3/2 seems like the style of play we'll have to focus on.
IF KU doesn't add Walker or Wilson I don't see championship ceiling. I think this team constructed needs one or both to raise the ceiling to that discussion. KU can absorb a freshman being a key cog because the Core 7 all have experience. If I had to pick 1, probably Wilson because he'd most likely be on campus earlier and has some position versatility and size that will be valuable at times. I think we need Walker or Wilson's shooting to be a dependable addition to this team. You can't rely on Ochai as the only shooter in the lineup. There won't be any scheming Self can rely on if that's the case
Q might have played PG here if Dotson didn't return. I think we are better off not knowing what could have been there.
So now we wait on Wilson and Walker.. Yikes
You'd think Duke would want him
Lol Kentucky and its 16 bigs. Why not add a 17th

Who is Walker, don't remember seeing his name?
Kyree Walker, a 2020 5 star guard that is likely to reclassify into the current class and KU has been hot on his trail
Grimes transferring
More are reporting Grimes will be back

You’re a harsh man ...
It was a bit harsh and I was a huge supporter of his coming in. Maybe I've written him off too soon. However something just feels off about this situation. Hopefully everything works out
