Really good points and probably spot on about Grimes.
I know Moore will make shots and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the best 3 point shooter on this team with the roster we have. He needs to start hitting them, especially the wide open one's. I would like to see him look for teammates when he drives to the hoop as well. You see shades of freshman Frank in his decision making on those drives.

The big 12 suuuucks this yr.
Not so fast as Lee Corso says. I forgot K-St as well. I think with KU's struggles/doke's injury this team will be in a dogfight for the Big-12 Championship. I don't think we have shown yet that we are capable of running away with anything. We'll see if that changes in a month and the Nova/ASU games will tell us more about this teams identity and where its going moving forward
I don't recall any recruits being here the past week.

The reality of Moore is, he's the same guy he was at Cal. He'd be valuable in the rotation if he could hit open 3 point shots. So far his 3 ball looks about as good as Garrett's. I believe there will be games that his spark plug offensive style will help us
I definitely thought he would be better than this from three.
He is a better shooter then he's shown. I've just been surprised how badly he's missed some of these shots. He has a lot of value in the rotation if he can make 35-40% from 3.

Ouch, but agree

Hate to mess up Duke in any way shape or form.
I'd love to pile on Duke but this has much more to do with Kansas. We are fortunate what could be a banner season won't be impacted until its over, at least
I definitely agree we need a big, not just any, one that can start at minimum. We need multiple bigs really because I can't imagine Silvio gets to play here anymore. Unless we somehow gain traction with a top 2019 recruit hopefully there are some graduate transfers worth getting in the spring.
And we better pray to every basketball god Dotson sticks around after this year because the way he's playing he's going to have a tough decision by seasons end.
TCU has Fisher & Noi back. They got a road win at SMU last night and I'd be surprised if they don't look like a Top 25 team going into conference play. Iowa St, Tech, TCU will be the 3 that can challenge KU this year. OU looks improved as well and probably is better then Texas at this point.
Bamba landed at Texas because of his relationship formed with Shaka. It does happen.
Look at Duke's recruiting edge with K coaching NBA superstars from time to time.
The FBI impact has killed any advantage Self could have gained from coaching USA ball this past summer. I highly doubt JRE goes to Nova without the trial. Hurt will go elsewhere as well because of this.
Update on Matthew Hurt. He took his visit to Kentucky.
Where do you go from here?
I’m going to take an official visit to UNC, not this weekend but the weekend after for UNC vs Gonzaga which is the 15th of December. Then I’m going to take an official visit to Duke in January for the Duke vs Virginia game, whichever weekend that is and then I’m going to visit Kansas in February I think.
Feb 2nd vs Texas Tech or Feb 16 vs West Virginia fit his February visit talk.
What do you say about the perception that Kansas is out in front for you?
Most people are saying that because I played for Self at USA in June but I mean I don’t have a leader right now, everyone has the same chance so I would put them overtop of anybody, people can think whatever they want but everyone has the same chance right now.
Sounds just like JRE, doesn't want to be tied to KU..

Actually I just looked at Duke's non con and its much better than years past. High ceiling, low floor. 4 teams that are creampuffs, but 4 in top 13.

Good point.
Another convenient scheduling tool I noticed. After their game against Texas Tech on the 20th, they have 16 days off until ACC conference play opens..
Doke is in a boot and on crutches. Didnt tear anything according to coach T.
That probably means there isn't any movement on Silvio's eligibility until after the season is over as well. He certainly doesn't deserve that fate
NCAA announced no penalties for any programs tied to FBI trial until after Final 4.
Better fit and can actually shoot. I still think we need Garrett's D on wings
BShark said:
@BeddieKU23 Spacing helps the entire team. With Doke it enables him to be one on one or potentially unguarded in the post. Also lets him seal off a guy more easily for a dunk. With Dedric it just gives him so much more room to use his crafty moves.
I think the answer for this team is playing 4 guards. Garrett can bang defensively in the post just fine tbh. Play Jay Wright ball. The shooting will still be an issue, but this would help a lot.
Will Self do it is a very fair question though. Like @Kcmatt7 said Bill gets tempted to play stone age hoops when he can. I still think a 3 out 2 in game could be okay, but you can't have so many plodding bigs for defensive reasons. You need to be able to guard the perimeter. Dedric plus Doke is just too much sloth on D. You also really still need more shooting threats 1-4. It's really tough to play two bigs when you only have one guard that can shoot worth a crap.
Garrett could be a solution or just a band-aid fix. He played well last night but it was Wofford. We'll see how he matches up against other teams. I think KJ has started to become comfortable within this team and I think he's the guy that should see a bump in his minutes. If we are looking for someone who has great chemistry to put next to Dedric its KJ. Them two just know where each other is, sort of the bond I was hoping Dedric/Doke would have but they clearly don't have.
The 4 guard lineup as I mentioned to HEM is still in the DNA of this team. It's probably a good thing with Doke out a while and Silvio in the pen

Oregon’s violations and penalties. 🙄
This was the equivalent of putting Altman in timeout for 5 minutes and taking away his tv privileges for 10
KirkIsMyHinrich said:
Dedric is averaging 19.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and has a 27.2 efficiency rating. He's only shooting 46% from the field and 9.1% from 3. If he gets his shooting percentage up, he'll probably win national player of the year.
Don't you know they gave it to Zion already because he can dunk really high. Like really high
A big part of why Dedric looks better without Doke is spacing, at least from what I'm seeing.
Dedric wants room to operate from that mid-range to the block. With both of them on the floor it looks cluttered and you can see easily they have no chemistry working off each other so far. Neither knows where to go, or where to be, opposite each other.
I was expecting Lawson would benefit from Doke on the floor as it would keep teams from doubling him. However what I'm seeing is two guys that in Self's offense are really a lot more similar to each other then I thought they would be. That has negated what looked like on paper would be a formidable duo.
Self changed his offense to his personnel the last few seasons and I think the blueprint of that switch is still in the DNA of this team. Doke isn't the right big next to Dedric right now and I'm not sure they will ever have the chemistry needed to make it work.. Very concerning development. Is it too soon to be concerned?
Oregon got a slap on the wrist, actually it was more like a light breeze. Nike made sure the basketball program wasn't losing its top 10 recruiting class. They got more checks to write
I hope Silvio is helping Dave out. It's the only role he'll have all year long
Nike Lawyers at work doing this now. hmmm we didn't see Adidas doing anything for the programs they tried to cripple. @BShark
3 point shooting offense needs work. Missed a ton of open good looks. Dedric especially has to start making some. He's getting plenty of room to tee up and they are just not going down. We will have plenty of games where we struggle from deep when Vick isn't making 7 a night
Grimes had much improved defensive effort and awareness. That seemed to help him gain confidence once he hit a few shots and got some easy baskets. That was a big glimpse of what he's capable of night in and night out
I was happy with the defense for the most part last night. Wofford point blank missed a lot of shots they could make so KU can't take all the credit. But we sure made life difficult for Magee & Hoover last night on almost every trip. Definitely looks like KU practiced and game-planned for their shooting. Kudos to coaches and players for execution

Could use this guy about now with Doke out. Thanks NCAA
Yupp it's their first time being ranked. When you beat Loyola Chicago & Villanova you get noticed. Their leading scorer had 15 3's in one game. Exciting to see a small school getting some pub
Charlie thinks he's never gonna get the ball again . Kid Jack's shots like kobe
