Body slammed him
How was that not a foul on frank.
Wasn't that 3 steps?
Hate to be such a homer but jeez this just isn't right.
How many fouls you guys have? I have 3 on me already.
I wonder what self said at half
These three zebras are easily supplanting Higgins for most hated ref!!
Need to run some stuff for svi. He need some shots.
@BeddieKU23 positives are that Duke is without Giles Taytum and Bolden.
Montone sideline reporter is annoying me
Freeeeeeeeeeeeeee throws Free.
Lightfoot aka Blow by city
Kansas is 1-5 in champions classic. That needs to reverse trend beginning tonight.
Masons J has improved soooo much over career.
Gotta let your star play I guess but my 3 guard line up would include more svi and less JJ for winning NOW. It's early so this isn't fair but JJ has the same disappearing magic act as Releford, Selden, & Wiggins.
Doke is exhausted
Shark deleted your post sorry. I agree on iq
I think the Jayhawks look better when svi is in game. Seems to be more rhythm
JJ is a jyd in dead ball situations I see
Never been from Kansas to Hawaii and Back to NY in a weeks time. Maybe that is leading to the lethargy.
6 fouls 2 minutes in. Wasnt called like this in first game.
@DanR I thought SC leading the young team to the Sweet Sixteen in 2008-09 was noteworthy, only losing to Michigan St.
@approxinfinity If you go to espn.com and compare their statistics they are eerily similar. Frank has the edge in rebounds and to/asst. Maybe my fondness of SC got the best of me.
Love Frank's play but he is no Sherron and SC couldn't even stick in the L. Maybe weight management was the deal breaker.
Edit: didn't see your post ReH before posting.
On another note :
limited, but he practiced. And he was limited by design. Regardless of how he (felt), he was gonna be limited.”
Self referring to Lucas. Self has gone from playing them through injury to preventative...shows how valuable LL is to him this year.
Kansas wins 7/10 times vs IU. Ku wouldn't should so cold from 3 & IU wouldn't shoot so hot. That was the difference in the game.
What is particularly concerning is Kansas' inability to stop penetration and giving up offensive rebounds. We've seen it in both exhibitions and last night. Let's hope Doke comes along as a fantastic shot blocker so the D doesn't have to collapse so much leaving the wide open perimeter shots.
Went to Cox this year hoping I could catch games on Contour while out--not so.
Any links floating around ? On the road this week. Thanks.
I've followed the kusports and now buckets board since 2009. This same argument has been ongoing since then. In fact, this same premise and sentiment seems to hijack nearly every discussion thread: Who Self should be playing, who shouldn't be playing. It goes back to the Morninstar/EJ debate, carried through to Cliff and now Diallo & Bragg. It's quite tiring and boring. The reason I come to the board, beyond basic interaction, is to hear about technical strategy. Once in while there will be talk about Z cuts and how to break a press and discussion about flashing, and screens, and how to use the hi/low more effectively. There is discussion of the history of the game, and how the coaching trees and branches are connected. There will be unique terminology coined such as "pushing off the spots" and the "disruption statistic." This information is what I like to read about because I become a better, more knowledgeable BB Fan. And you just never know what you might learn about beyond basketball from some the posters here. There is a lot of talent and education among the Board Rats as JB calls them. But, by and large, a majority of the discussions center on topics just like this one. I see it as a waste, but, then again, we are entitled to our own preferences and passions.
Considering Self made ZERO adjustments, maybe he's been spending his prep time looking forward to the UK game.
Why wait 30 seconds to foul if you are gonna foul.
This will be 3 in a row at home in the HUGG Vs SELF match up. Another 25,000 for Huggy.
@ZIG Could probably say that about all of the players tonight. Just not their day; playing well below their ability.
Maybe this is just the homer P.O.V but It feels like Bill cost himself every chance at 50/50 foul calls when he blew his lid on Gary ref against OU just before half time as well.
@MoonwalkMafia That doesn't mean he wasn't hurting.
Tough game to watch. No adjustments. Hawks are all out of sorts. As Mason goes...and Mason just isn't going. He hasn't been right since OU.
@jaybate-1.0 I was curious as to why Lon didn't have Hield post Mason up more. It appeared to me he was giving up a lot of height. Maybe Lon thought he was going to get his anyway and didn't need to go out of the way to run any offense like that. I did see in either the last two minutes of OT 2 or 3 that he ran a play to get Hield isolated on the block against Mason, but nothing else.
The most enjoyable thing to me last night was not only was this a fantastic basketball game. But that it was played by 2, 3, and 4 year guys, whom I've grown accustomed to and have appreciated their development and growth. There is more of a connection there for me, and imo, lends to caring more about the 'W' than had I had in the last 2-3 years when the teams focus has been on the OAD Star.
Fun game to watch. Wish I had more time to read through all the comments and read Buckets' thoughts.
Rock Chalk!
Walked in from a late night, sat down to catch up on buckets with Young Frankenstein playing in the background and I came across this post first as Igor was raising the platform. Too strange!!
IT'S ALIVE, ITS ALIVE!!!
First half of this game is reminiscent of the second v Mich. St.
Is there anywhere to watch the game online for those who have been blacked out?
Admittedly, I'm shocked that the Six Game Suspension served is a result of insubordination. Understanding other things are at play, such as repeat offenses, and BG having a fiery attitude in general. But to me, this suspension seems a bit stiff if it is for blowing up over playing time. Considering the suspensions served by Self in the past, I'm curious to know how others feel and if the punishment fits the crime.
Jamari was arrested for interfering with the police, and received a one game suspension.
Morningstar served an entire semester for a DUI.
Tyshawn had 2 games for the AFH escapades.
Nadir got the boot for inappropriate behavior and photos going public.
Giddiness got the boot for a knife fight.
Elijah & Mario Little, and Marcus Morris were other suspensions, though I cannot recall the details.
Not to debate any points in your post, but to me, the most frustrating thing is that fact that a group of juniors & seniors seemed to have no cohesiveness and no leadership on the court. Especially considering they had the benefit of playing together over the summer.
My biggest concern after reading Coleby would visit this weekend was that he would have a hair-trigger and cost us Chuckwu Norris. I'm disappointed, but understand Bill can't wait around.
I'm enjoying reading the responses on the thread.

Could never pick just one, but never turn off a back to the future or John Hughes film. Definitely an 80's and comedy fan

Zero, 'cause I'm a pessirealist.
The CF suggestion was tongue in cheek
Connor Frankamp :)
Not so Chubby, Cheickers?
I don't know....If it's me putting together the line up, I'm definitely Playing Drgnslyr for the bruising, Jaybate for the creating, KonkeyDong for the assisting, Kansas Comet for the motivating, Dylans for defending, & HEM for the coaching.
Approx is keeping stats.
Crimson is our cheerleader.
Brooks is our water boy.
The rest of us will backseat manage, and armchair quarterback from the stands.
Is everybody that drinks alcohol a "Drunk" like everyone who consumes Cannabis is a "pothead"?
@HighEliteMajor really not sure how to interpret the post because I wasn't saying that "hey alcohol is legal, so marijuana should be, too"
I was simply suggesting that the "Reefer Madness" propaganda is still very present today. Marijuana is treated like the bogeyman, when in fact, there are so many daily behaviors that can be highlighted that demonstrate bad decision making.
Or maybe it's the alcohol that we legally sell on every street corner in America that's lowering the IQ. I swear one time I saw Naadir so drunk he posted a picture of himself drunk on Twitter and got kicked out of the best program in D1.
