@chriz It really wasn't an open lay up. He was forced to far into the baseline and did not have a good angle on that lay up. He also took 3 steps doing it and that wasn't called.
There are people out there who believe EJ was in on a fix. I'm not one of them, but there were some very strange plays.
EJ was a warrior that year battling his knee injury. He was so athletic. He could easily do 360, between the leg dunks when he got here. Unfortunately, he just couldn't get over injury and find that explosiveness. Don't forget the 2012 Title Run was in large part due to his clutch shooting.
The only real disappointment that I have with EJ was his intentional shot on McGary early in the game. The Hawks knew Mitch set hard screens and EJ wanted to set a tone early. That kind of crap is unacceptable in my view, although, I know this kind of stuff happens all of the time.
@wissox They were an Elijah Johnson season long injury away from winning that. Even then, they had that game wrapped up. If Maclemore just dives on the ball and gets a jump ball at the end we have possession up 5. Instead, he tried to bend over and pick it up and lost it. So many things went wrong that last 3 minutes.

Be optimistic because this program, the one you cheer for, has won THIRTEEN STRAIGHT Big 12 Championships. Be at peace with whatever happens knowing Bill Self and Most of the players are doing their damndest to make the KU Legion of Fans and Alumni proud. When I sense my expectations for young athletes getting out of control I ask myself: How would I feel if this was my child? I’d be disappointed that it doesn’t always go our way, but I’d be proud anyway.
This team is just not that good. Self is usually masterful at getting pieces to fit and become better than the sum of all of the parts. There are some good pieces. The pieces are better than losing to ASU and Oklahoma State at home. The pieces are better than being handled by Washington, Baylor, and Tech. They were also better than Oklahoma but their coach failed them. This team lacks cohesion. This team lacks F.O.E.

Self didn’t like Greenes last second lay up because Greene acted like he was gonna dribble it out and then then ran in and laid it up.
EJ on the other hand threw down Insult points against Iowa St in 2013 in the waning seconds and that didn’t bother Self because EJ was intent on taking it to the rack as soon as he got it. Hoiberg thought it was a shit move. Self didn’t. EJ had been spit on the year prior to that by an Iowa State fan and that was pay back.
