How did WVU lose? When I saw halftime score, I'd banked it in the W column.

I hate LeBron too. I’m perplexed that your perplexed. :-)

Release birds in Allen Fiekdhouse on the return game?

@approxinfinity they (ESPN) too caught up in Trae worship. They missed the story of the game in Self's flub at the end from about 2-3 min left.

Awesome! Btw, Kruger was reading your posts obviously. How prescient.

HighEliteMajor said:

@nuleafjhawk I just need an explanation. I need to hear coach Self say, "Look, it's an Africa thing. When he left, he promised his townfolk that he would never change his free throw shooting to honor all of them, each time he plays." Other than that, I'm lost.

Trae's hair • Jan 24, 2018 05:12 AM

And a 13 year old voice to go with it. He should be playing for Bruce Weber

@chriz I don't see that master plan materializing.

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 05:03 AM

@hawkmoon2020 I had this in the loss column like the WV game. But who'd figure we'd give it due to coaching when victory was achievable at 2 min mark with an adaption to other teams coaching strategy?

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 05:00 AM

@Big-Clyde52 hopefully our coaching staff would adjust in the future. If not, an Asst Coach needs to put his job on the line slapping sense into Self on the sideline.

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 04:58 AM

@Crimsonorblue22 now that's a mystery. Not adapting to end game strategy is stupidity.

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 04:56 AM

@CRH107 that take does not take into account the pressure that was built by a failure to adjust.

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 04:50 AM

@DanR Doke gained no confidence from this. At best, his confidence is not 100% destroyed.

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 04:47 AM

@kjayhawks in last 2 min we weren't even throwing it in to him. They were fouling him when he wasn't really even in the play.

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 04:45 AM

@truehawk93 not a bad game. Threw it with a failure to adapt. I don't see any way that Doke will grow from this. It's possible but probably not this year.

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 02:20 AM

@HawkChamp it’s unexplainable. Worse than any elite 8 failure to adapt that I’ve seen. Obviously not same consequence, but can only be explained if he wanted to drive a lesson home to Doke. But really. Do that with film and coaching after you put your team in best position to win the damn game.

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 02:10 AM

Trae Young actually 13?

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 02:09 AM

This loss is on coaching late in the game

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 02:09 AM

ESPN is missing the big story

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 02:08 AM

This game was winnable. Threw it away. What the hell?

Bill Self - cost us the game? • Jan 24, 2018 02:05 AM

Did Bill cost us the game by not pulling Doke in light of OU strategy of fouling Doke every time?

I say yes.

We're not the team we need to be yet. We are developing some grit.

The combination is priceless.

WVU ranks 319th in the country in fouling, at about 21.4 per game. It is a myth that they don't get fouls called on them.

KSU, btw, is ranked 229th, at 19.2. So, getting 4 calls fewer against them yesterday than their avg caused Squeaky to bitch. Point plankin'!

And how often do the refs swollow the whistle because they'd be caling a foul multiple times on most posessions....?

In our mock funeral for Bruce Weber, his tombstone can read, "death by ref"

@Blown not incorrect.

BeddieKU23 said:

@cragarhawk

Wait til monday. That should bring a few it's the refs fault

And in WV, it will be true. For every team.

Yep. Can we make them pay for the Press? Might be better to ask first, can we handle their pressure? I hope the Hawks surprise me, but I haven't seen much that says we can. We're thin in the ranks, we're anorexic when Devonte is out. And even Devonte, despite starting strong in the turnover category, has gone to making 1-3 just piss poor passes or decisions that have him getting picked in recent games.

We'll need the refs to call a tight game and that probably isn't going to happen in Morgantown, WV!

cragarhawk said:

Sometimes I feel like Graham particularly just knows he's gonna get fouled. Or assumes it will be called and thus doesn't even really try hard to finish at the rim.. it bugs me. It is absolutely one of the major things Frank had in his game. Yes he would draw fouls. But he learned how to focus on finishing those drives also.

Agree with everything you said. Devonte is throwing up a prayer when he drives in traffic. Key point you made though - Frank "learned" - he was terrible at finishing but it was a skill he perfected over his 4 years. I remember the discussions that Frank needed to drive to kick out, but it took him a while to consistently add that to his game. Remember all the debate about Frank vs Sherron?

Devonte has not been developing that - because Frank did - and now Devonte is in year 1 to 2 of learning. We'll see how fast he can get there.

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 08:20 PM

TCU is stupid. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

They need 2 possessions and kept trying to penetrate where they’ve been blocked about 6 times in the last 14 game minutes

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 08:11 PM

But maybe with a stop

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 08:11 PM

Yep - too many soft layup floater attempts getting blocked

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 07:58 PM

This is a game. TCU needed a score there to ensure they wouldn’t lose.

New Dynamics on the Court • Jan 13, 2018 07:50 PM

TCU at OU is good

@jaybate-1.0 agreed on the mugging. Not sure how well we will handle that.

Friday's gone with the wind. There's always tomorrow. Oh, wait - it's today!

It's today.

Just saw Jesse posted his Quick Scout. Sounds like could depend on which KSU team shows up: pre-Big12 or last 4 games for defending the 3.

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/campus-corner/article194446364.html ↗

Is the KSU game tomorrow a bellwether indicator of our potential performance against WV foulers?

Haven’t seen many other league games but historically KSU has played strong defense. We’ve struggled against pressure D. Can they guard our perimeter?

Right now, I think we get destroyed by WV. But if KSU brings pressure and we get our legs under us (assuming we have legs left for Mon) perhaps we can find a way through breaking the pressure - if we can hit layups better than vs ISU.

Tough stretch!

Time check. 9:16 pm. About 2 3/4 hours for the eggs to survive.
