All I know is I AM STOKED to get this season started.

@wissox HEY I got a question bear fan - an you tell me exactly how many QB'S you all have went through since the LAST time Green Bay changed QB'S - If I could count that high I could help you out - -damn it I hate that when that happens lmao. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
Can you not count to one? Or maybe two, counting this year. Rodgers and Cutler were pretty much the starters for the exact same time period... from 2008 to last year. 126 starts for Rodgers v. 95 for Cutler. Happily, Rodgers never got injured except for one year (2013). Until now. Let's see how many QBs Green Bay goes through in the next couple years. LOL. Only reason I can stand the Packers is because of Rodgers.
Since 2008:
GB: Rodgers (130)
Flynn (6)
Tolzien (2)
Wallace (1)
Next weeks starter (1)
Bears: Grossman (1), Orton (15), Cutler (95 games), Collins (1), Hanie (4), McCown (2), Cambell (1), Clausen (2), Hoyer (5), Barkely (6), Glennon (4) Trubisky (2)
@BShark Well, yeah. We'll tell them that.
@BShark Did I miss something with the banning of @globaljaybird ?
Unless there was something behind the scenes, I sure think we all can handle a few cranky posts once in a while.
Also... mark my words: it will get ugly, if not on the floor, then in the stands.
Self tried to do a good thing and Mizzou still stabbed him the back by leaking it before they had the details worked out. GO FIGURE.
I feel sorry for the players. I think they're trying hard, but every game we shoot ourselves in both feet in the first quarter. Sometimes D, sometimes the O and today special teams. Start off down 2 or 3 TDs and there's no way to execute any kind of plan. Then it's downhill from there.
Best thing to happen to mizzou basketball since...
I like to see a good 15-pitch battle between a hitter and pitcher once in a while. Part of the game (wears out the pitcher).
And by fishy, I mean that I wouldn't be surprised if people at Mizzou came up with the idea.
I have nothing against raising money for hurricane relief, but I don't get why suddenly THIS is this "cause" to play an exhibition game. If it was to help after a catastrophe in Missouri/Kansas (like the Joplin tornado), it would make more sense to shake hands and entertain the fans for a regional cause. The motivation smells fishy to me.
That was pretty ridiculous, but I'm not sure they could have sped that one up. Maddon and Baker over-managing. 23 hits. 22 left on base. 13 walks. Over 350 pitches. 14 pitchers used and a few of those guys were pretty slow, but not the worst in MLB.
Here's a link to the UDK story. ↗
Here's the FBI letter, ↗ which basically says, this is our standard response and no indication that records do or do not exist.
The reporters have a reading comprehension problem.
Curious to see if Underwood's abrupt departure from OSU is relevant. Plenty of reasons to jump from that sinking OSU ship, but he's the coach that brought Lamont Evans there from South Carolina.
KU 42 ISU 35
nothin to lose
"As long as svi improves as much this season as he did last season…"
-- I did a spit take with that. What more do you want? The rest I was just kind of tearing up about..."Doke stays healthy" ...come on, man.
To me "athleticism" describes a person who could play ANY sport and be damn good. (Jordan, Thorpe, Chamberlain, Jim Brown, John Elway, Tony Gonzalez, Sanders... and a lot of our friends we all knew growing up who were pretty good at everything.
Unfortunately now it means something else.
One quick fix for the stadium experience would be pushing the mute button on that *&$#$# scoreboard.
@mayjay Yeah, I don't get the challenges on first downs when you're up 21-0 eight minutes into the first quarter. I think until the 4th quarter they should give the replay folks about 30 seconds to review. 1) if you don't have a good camera angle, go back to the field call. 2) If it's not blatantly different than the field call, then move on. Later, in a close game, scrutinize it more. Football is not really a game of inches.
Some of those breaks were 5+ minutes. Three out of five plays at one point. There was a so-called fumble challenge that everyone in the stadium could see he was down and practically running back to the huddle before the ball was loose, and that one took forever because I assume they had crappy camera angles on it. Totally nuts. I think that was finally the one that went in KU's favor--the 6th challenge out of 6.
If I was watching on TV at home I could be painting the house or knitting a sweater or something at the same time, but sitting in the stands it was just boring as hell.
@Crimsonorblue22 left about halfway through the 4th quarter. Figured four hours was enough.
7 official reviews in the first quarter alone. Total BS. Why even have refs on the field at all if they are that useless.
That was painful, and I'm not just talking about the sunburn on one side of my body.
going for all the home teams.... OU, UT, TCU and KU
And, now I'm heading to Memorial Stadium!
It's a pretty safe bet that all available players are going to see decent minutes!
My brother-in-law is a ref for football and bb... high school and college. College quarterback, started for 3 years at Pitt State (pretty sure he still has the record for longest touchdown pass unless it's longer than 104 yards). He has a masters degree and is a medical professional. Not a loser or asshole. Loves his real job, but refs because he loves the games.
Why aren't more people like @HighEliteMajor reffing?
@BShark I was at Midnight Madness back in whatever year Ostertag was a freshman, and I thought it was a blast 28? years ago. Probably even more lame back then. If the students are still having fun with it, then I'm definitely OK with what they're doing.
TV production should be a lot better now than it is though.
Edit... and that blackout was BS
I honestly don't get the appeal of late night (early evening) as a recruitment tool. It's boring and/or awkward as hell (to me). Half the fans are asleep by the time the scrimmage starts. At least this year on TV they showed the scrimmage instead of a split screen with Gurley and Bill standing in the upper deck. (And I like those guys; just don't need to see them while they're yakking.)
That said, I'm pretty sure I'm not the intended audience, so I can live with it if this is what the kids enjoy.
Dang. I'll probably have to stop complaining every time Mr. Goodhair refs KU games. He's been getting better the past couple years anyway, IMO.
Wow, according to those 30 Lew highlights, Wilt sucked

Wellp, the late night replay on ESPN3 cuts off after interviewing Self at half court, no scrimmage. Beautiful.
That's where it died when I was watching it live. Whoever put that deal together can rot.

Push a cray-cray girl up some steps...

How does Romeo pronounce his name? Roh-MAY-oh or ROH-me-oh?
By Gawd, let's go back to just two uniforms per year. Home and Away. Made of wool.
Let the knee-high sock companies run the show for a while.
@approxinfinity LOL at the Mafia speak... '"I know Jimmy Gatto. I hired him," Vaccaro said from his home in Southern California. "An altar boy. I have known him since birth."
@mayjay According to a KC Star article ↗ a couple weeks ago, Larry Brown is available.
Actually, in this story, Brown mentions being best buddies with Silvio De Sousa's 32-year-old "guardian," Fenny Palmagne. Also the guardian of Bruno Fernando who is going to play for Turg at Maryland this year.
Not that any of that makes me nervous or anything about De Sousa's sudden surprise decision to go to KU or anything.
If Cliff Alexander had been involved, his mom wouldn't have had to get a loan.
The more I read about this, the weirder it is.
Shoe Co.'s shovel hundreds of millions to universities, and that's cool.
Adidas sliding $20K to some assistant coaches at Nike/UA schools to basically recruit nike players for adidas sponsorship post-college is, like... Whoah. Call the FBI someone!
What's weird to me is none of the four coaches charged so far are even at Adidas schools. ??
OSU, USC, Arizona are Nike schools. Auburn is Under Armour.
Appears to have gone from a 13" vertical all the way to 17" vertical after the weight loss. BUT... that's still better than the Morrii started with (and Lucas ended with!).
We'll, that got ugly fast
Still watching. Picked up dog poop in the yard at halftime, and I think that got us going.
13-35 half. Enjoyed the running game, but I probably have better things to do than watch the rest.
@DoubleDD what's wrong with you?
What we need is a big name coach who can bring in a couple 5 star QB's, right? Oh, wait...
Not good, but B12 Matchups are different. We'll win one B12 game if the other team screws up or we score on every possession.
Gill started this, along with Perkins. I'll cheer for any kid who is willing to put on a KU uniform after that debacle.
Ohio players look like grown men.
My day started off so well too.
View from the deck about 4 hours ago...
Dang, this team is hard to watch. No bright spots. Barely any dim spots.
If we score every possession, we might win a few games.
