Added another 2019 LB today too. Thought is he’ll take Jayden Russell’s IC since he either won’t make it to KU or it’ll be some time.

This is the dumbest move the NCAA could make. The schools and athletes haven't broken a single rule. The athletes don't even have a say in what the legislature is doing, yet they're the ones who are getting penalized. The California legislature, a lazy bunch of hacks, just gets to virtue signal that they did something that only could result in a bad outcome for athletes, since it's not like the NCAA will bend here. F the NCAA

I will probably always be of the opinion of guarding inside as the top priority because those shots are such a higher percentage than outside that if I have to sacrifice something, I'll risk getting burned from deep than getting burned from the paint.

This is where I'm at as well. Elite teams shoot around 40% from 3, which is equal to 60% from inside the arc on a points/shot basis. Sacrificing defense inside the arc might allow some teams to push that 60% number if they get enough easy looks at the rim. Better to lock people down inside the arc and dare them to beat you from 3, especially now that the line is further out. Even if the percentage made falls by a couple percentage points, say from 35% to 33%, That's a couple points per game lost from the outside. The median was 24.4 attempts/game. So if 35% of that is 8.5 makes per game, and 33% is 8 per game. That's 1.5 points less that we'd expect from the perimeter per game, holding attempts constant (which is convenient, but not entirely sure how realistic). Puts more of a premium on inside scoring since 2 pt FG% probably won't change a whole lot. So on the margin I'm more in favor of not allowing potentially easy buckets inside and more for allowing a few more open 3's.

I like our chances with Webb if Louisville gets Purdy. Don't discount the grapes for Purdy, as much as it pains me to say.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I've seen it discussed so it was worth bringing up. Honestly I wouldn't want Mitch defending most 4's either. He's really springy but not great laterally. If Wilson fails to launch I could see Garrett playing some 4 if the matchup makes sense.

"In short, it hasn’t been pretty, but it might not be as far away as people think. Last season, Garrett had a noticeable hitch in his motion, something that led to him making just 12-of-49 3-pointers, or 24.5 percent. Said hitch is gone; Garrett is now shooting with a much more fluid motion, which makes sense; the Kansas staff has said before that they expect Garrett to be able to shoot eventually, as he’s one of the team’s hardest workers and few were going to get up as many shots. Meyer said most often, that motion was added by too much push from the off-hand thumb—in Garrett’s case, his left thumb. With no hitch and a shot that’s more consistently on line, Garrett’s already putting in the work.

Interestingly enough, when Issac McBride talked with media members afterward, he was asked — after watching last year’s team — which player surprised him the most. His answer was Garrett, with McBride noting that he had no idea Garrett was as offensively skilled as he was."

I don't think Dave plays hardly any 4. No way he can guard most 4's, let alone switch onto guards. Silvio can switch onto a lot of guards and has some skill, so he'll play A LOT.

Silvio is going to get about 20mpg, Enaruna 10 plus, Wilson 22, Agbaji 25 Braun about 7, Dotson about 30, McBride seven or eight, abd Moss around 25. And Garrett - if he doesn't redshirt - what, about 5 or 6? And where should Garrett's minutes come? At the point, over McBride? Why? He is a decent defender who cannot push the ball due to being relatively slow, and he cannot score. Maybe the 2? Are you serious? How 'bout the three? Why? At the expense of Agbaji, Wilson and the development of Braun? I've changed my mind on redshirting him, though.... Want him to graduate in two years and move on, so that we can quickly replace him with someone who can shoot. He'll be defensively serviceable this year for about 5 to 8 minutes a game, period - splitting time at three positions.

There are many takes that exist. This is one of them.

I think they want 2 of Nix, Love, and Thompson. I feel the best about Thompson today, then Nix, then Love. Could see us locking Thompson down at Late Night or whereabouts. Nix and Love might be spring guys.

I would be stunned if the rotation is beyond 9 guys. Each of the 9 has a pretty defined role for this time of year. Wilson, Garrett, and Moss are really the only ones in flux. And ideally Moss fits like a glove at the 2 so Garrett can be a do it all guy off the bench. And no way Garrett RS's barring injury. He's our 2nd best PG and best perimeter defender. No idea why you'd take that guy off the floor on a team that needs ballhandling and perimeter defense.
