KU can get Todd IMO. Long way to go though.

@FarmerJayhawk I tried to figure out what LFK meant for like a minute before finally giving up and searching the acronym via google. Maybe it's because you seem wholesome, and swearing doesn't bother me at all, but I was not expecting it to be what it was, even though it was very obvious.
Anyway... carry on.
Ha! IRL I swear all the time. Family message board 😂
cue hot taeks
Kansas.

Almost never see numbers this high.
It’s gonna look goofy on him since he’s so small.

I think we have a great shot there. KU, OU, UNC his top 3. He'll be a fall signee
Bryce Thompson will be in LFK next week.
@jayballer73 grant in aid is just financial aid. A letter of intent binds the player to the school.

Here's Bart Torvik's model: http://barttorvik.com/rosters20.php?team=Kansas. ↗ Not sure I buy all of it (Doke, Garrett, Dotson too high, Moss, Silvio much too low) but it's fun to look at.
Garrett at 12.6 is proof that computers can get drunk.
Yup. Models are only as good as what you put into them.
@rockchalkwyo they're different players, but I think that's his ceiling. Braun has better ball skills at this point than Svi did, but Svi was the better pure shooter. Hard to say how Braun will develop for sure. Not sure he'll ever be as good a shooter as Svi (who's legit elite at this point). Struggling to come up with a great comp at this point but Svi isn't a bad one.
The more I hear about Braun the more I like him. He's going to need a year or two, but if he can add good weight and play at 6'8 205-210, look out. His skill level is really good. And may develop into a really good shooter.
To quote Alan Greenspan, I may have some irrational exuberance, but I think that guy was Moss. He seems like a breakout candidate to me since he'll be healthy and away from McCaffrey. Could be our Cam Johnson so to speak. I could see him 12-14 PPG if he gets more consistent. Doke will get his 14/8. But you're right it's odd that we won't have a guy we can just lean on and get us 20 when needed. Dotson is the most likely candidate but he hasn't shown it yet.
Not over Silvio. I don't think Wilson starts. Another utility guy who can play 3 and stretch 4.
I feel pretty confident Ochai will start. Remember he even started over Garrett last year when we went back to 2 bigs. Wilson and Ochai can't play together unless Ochai really inprmoves his handle. I honestly think Wilson sees more minutes at the 4 than the 3.
I could be wrong on this, but I think Mitch redshirts. He'll be the 5th big, and with the emergence of McCormack late last year he'll be the 5th option. I don't know if he's interested in graduate school, but redshirting and taking a year toward a master's on scholarship, might not be a bad option.
Billy Embody. Dude knows his stuff in Texas.
David Eickholt, the Iowa 247 Insider:
"1. A big reason he transferred from Iowa was playing time and exposure. Fran opted to play his son Connor McCaffery more in the crunch time scenarios due to his ball-handling and defense.
-
Moss can break down defenders on the dribble and get to the hoop. He's a guy that is very capable of creating his own shot. He's the type of player that will take a difficult shot that will make you say "No, No No!" then "Yes!". He excels in down the shot clock scenarios.
-
He's a very reliable three-point shooter. He shot 42 percent this past season from three and I'm surprised it wasn't higher. The biggest knock on Moss is that he's the definition of a microwave. If he makes his first one or two shots-- it's likely that he'll drop anywhere from 14-24 points. There was a game two years ago Minnesota where he scored 19 points in 1:30. If he gets going, he's an extremely dangerous player and isn't afraid to let it fly.
-
He's a guy that has improved dramatically on defense. He clogs the passing lanes and isn't afraid to swipe at opponents that stand in the "triple-threat" position. He also doesn't get in foul trouble very much. Moss will be a guy that when put in a consistent system-- can excel. Part of the reason that his defense suffered at Iowa was that Fran loves to run three different styles of defense to throw off opposing offenses. I imagine that he'll be much better when he has to commit to one or two styles of defense.
-
Moss will have to complete a couple of summer classes in order to be a graduate transfer-- but he's had no grade issues in the past, so I don't see this as a big issue for him. He's a high character kid and I haven't heard anything negative regarding him during his four years at Iowa."

If Wilson commits who do you all think starts in the backcourt besides Dotson? I would like it to be Moss and Agbaji but I have a feeling that Jalen may start.
I think Moss and Agbaji will start. I think Garrett plays starter minutes at whatever position we need depending on matchup. Wilson will play some 3, mostly 4 I'd imagine.

@jayballer73 In Self's offense, the 2 and the 3 serve the same function. If KU lands Moss and Wilson, you will see those two along with Agbaji and Garrett subbed for interchangeably until the rotation is set. Dotson and McBride are the only two back court players who have set positions as lead guards, everyone else is off ball and in Self's offense, that means they are interchangeable.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 mean very little in today's game. A 1 is about the only position that you don't see a lot of interchangeability with. Doke is a rarity in being a true 5 as the rest of KU's big are variations of 4's. McCormack and Silvio are traditional 4's at this point unless Silvio has expanded his range, Mitch is an undersized 4, and Tristan is a stretch 4 in college and wing in the NBA, similar to the role Josh Jackson played at KU. Even between college and NBA, you see a lot of people play different positions like what Tristan will be doing here
No way McCormack is a 4. You are what you can defend, and he can't guard 4's. No way, no how.

:eyes: Who have you heard from?
Nobody who thinks UNC or Michigan has a prayer. UNC folks felt they needed to blow Wilson away and then some, but they don’t think they had a super clear role for Wilson in year 1 and the relationship between Wilson/UNC never really took off like he and Self (who took a very personal role on this one) and Wilson & family.

Bump
Yep, he’s still got some to do over the summer at Iowa before officially graduating. He may commit soon, but won’t be at KU (or anywhere) until later this summer.
I’ve been hunting down to get a sense of timing and whether or not he’s got any more coursework to do.
@jayballer73 assuming his grades are fine, 100% I’d take Bilau. It’s a no risk play. If he doesn’t develop he walks, if he does you’ve got something for another 4 years (assuming he redshirts) moving forward. Best case he turns into Kerry Blackshear.
Word is Moss wasn’t totally healthy last year which played a part in him regressing some. Had a hip procedure so if he’s healthy he should be better than last year.

@FarmerJayhawk I would like to hope the staff likes the player that can actually stay more than one year better for the long term. :p

@FarmerJayhawk That's why that I sighed when we didn't even offer Moss...
Didn’t want to mess with the RJ/Wilson package. They like Wilson more, especially long term.
@Crimsonorblue22 yep. Good for him. He’s a good kid, just hasn’t developed due to injury and he also can’t shoot.
Someone with a Slant sub told me Bossi is saying it’s basically done. And Wilson was made aware of Moss and is good with it since they don’t really share a spot.

@BShark If Moss came, it would be a line up of Dotson, Moss, Garrett, DeSousa, and Doke and Agbaji would be coming off the bench.
I think Ochai starts over Garrett. I think he’s more valuable as a Swiss Army knife off the bench than a starter.
@KirkIsMyHinrich #toosoon
Howard also can’t recruit yet since he hasn’t passed the NCAA exam

I would think Moss has a lot more to do with Walker maybe not being able to not reclassify.
Early next week for Wilson. I’d be really surprised if it wasn’t Kansas.
We have the available scholarships, so why not.

I concur. Won’t stop Self from recruiting him though.
@Marco honestly I’m not sure how realistic Maker is. KU made inroads with that crew during Thon’s recruitment, and probably would’ve gotten him had he gone to college. Just don’t ask how.

How good is he? Didn't think we were on him that heavy.
Really talented kid. Plus athlete, really good scorer. I don’t think he can run the point full time yet, but he’d be a nice complement to Nix, who’s more of a traditional PG. Self would love him. He’s a terrific penetrator and has a really good handle. His jumper is streaky but some of that is probably just from his lack of a good S&C program.

cool story. big fan of him already. I do think he plays next year as a bit of spark plug offense. Might have a role similar to what Vick did earlier in his career
I could see us needing that. I think he'd be a great fit at the 2 next to Devon. Adds another shooter and he has incredible range.
I like him enough to say that we're not going to need to recruit another starting PG for awhile.
Don’t get me wrong, I like McBride a lot. I just think he’s a better canned offense option off the bench for a couple years. And Daishen Nix is a STUD
