Really good article in The Athletic on the new Big 12 commissioner. He plans on being active and taking the initiative in all areas, including expansion. He’s already working of the Big 12 but doesn’t start contractually until August. Active, instead of “reactive”! Refreshing.

Bill will sit him 10 games and make him run steps! Or would have at any rate….

I understand the PAC12 is going into television rights negotiations 2 years early to get a value on their remaining teams. Remaining teams may want to hear that before deciding. I’m thinking this will be a drawn out process.

“ The travel ban, which took effect in January, originally included Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee. The Attorney General … announced he had added Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota and Texas because of recently enacted laws in those states.” Apparently it includes university staff members. I’m not certain it can be gotten around so easily due to the amount of state funding involved. I’ll be interested to see if it comes into play…

Doesn’t CA have a prohibition against their state supported schools (UC system) playing schools where politics conflict? I think Kansas, Oklahoma, maybe Nebraska conflict. I dunno about other Big 10 schools.

@BeddieKU23 , IMO player’s talents at a low to mid-major don’t often translate well to P5, especially at the elite P5 levels. Cam Martin (we’ll wait and see) seems to be an example of that. I don’t remember a plethora of them succeeding. Coach apparently feels that way about Mosley.

JWill 100%.

I think Bobby and Zach end up taking the biggest steps forward in terms of improvement though.

JWill is among the most experienced, but he didn’t seem to be a leader last year. Early on he moped about his drunk driving ticket/team suspension. Later he let Remy, Christian and Big Dave lead, both by example and verbally.

I hope JWill steps up. Otherwise, the Hawks may have a void there. 🤞🏻

KJ reminds me of Pierre Russell when he played at KU (yes, I’m that old). I don’t see KJ at the 5, but as a strong rebounding and inside scoring 4. But Self hasn’t gone that way in the past, has he?

I’m curious as to what Remy’s plans are now. Is he entering the NBA draft? Overseas?

@BShark - why do so many responses seem to think Baylor Scheierman is going to KU? Is it the “KU pays” mantra?

Looks like Isaiah Wong of Miami will enter the transfer portal if he doesn’t get more NIL money from Miami, according to The Athletic. Same school that gave Pack $800,000. Wild year.

“The Athletic” writer Kapadia grades the CB pick as a C-. 🤔 Under sized & not enough reps to prove his numbers.

Looks like teams were scared to throw his way.

I’m thinking they try to trade up for quality defensive players. Granted, the offense lost some vital players, but defensive improvement could negate a large part of that. It will be interesting to see…

Does J-Will have an NIL with anyone? I understand G-League pays around $36K per season average. A good NIL would be an incentive to return and also to continue course work.
