As I read about the game two points were made....Braun was not a good FT shooter even in High School? Doesn't make sense if he is supposedly a good 3 pt shooter. Also, Dotson playing 37 minutes might have contributed to his poor play down the stretch.

@FarmerJayhawk I hear what you are saying and it is only one game. But how the heck do we lose a game where Nova shoots as poorly as they did from 3?

Really bad last minute for Dotson. Bad TO, missed FT, missed tough layup. Although the breakdown on the last possession was us having only 4 seconds for the play.
Hard to believe that nova shot as poorly as they did from 3 and we lost. I can't even process this loss.

Bad last possession for us. Dotson with the quick shot and Doke with a foul...at least they didn't score.

They are 4-18, I think on 3s and are tied with us....you have to take advantage of a 3 pt shooting team not hitting.

You could read Self's lips when Doke traveled...come on Doke ...dunk it...playing soft!

We missed some easy shots....should be up by more.

@jayballer73 I have a bad feeling too....and your intuitions are often right I must say....but I hope you are wrong this time.

@nuleafjhawk I remember being excited about Nino when he joined KU...do you remember why he seemed to not live up to the hype? Or did he and I just don't remember?

@HighEliteMajor Other than the first few minutes, perhaps, once again, we look bad in the 3/2. I wonder how long Self will continue to try it?
Doke will struggle all season at the line, I believe, and Self will have to take him out at the end of close games. Dayton OT notwithstanding.
Fran over stated his opinion on Moss, but he did have a point.
Agree on Agbaji……...he is key for us.
Right now I would say Ohio State and Louisville are further along than us.....but I like our chances to improve more than they do.
Was the poor 3 point shooting by Dayton and CU the result of good defense or an off night? That still worries me.

@Marco I think Winston losing his brother in the manner that it occurred has affected his play. Understandable. But, yes, they are not the same without Langford.

@jayballer73 I have gone to late December games when the semester is over. They release more GA seats and you can sit in the student sections. May not be as viable of an option this year as we play on the road in late December.

I have to believe that Colorado, and everyone else moving forward, will double Doke from now on. Probably until we can make teams pay a big enough price for doing so?

@Texas-Hawk-10 You are probably right...maybe we say he showed good potential his freshmen year.

@BShark I can't figure that out. He looked so good his first year. I think with the other two big guys available Self won't let him play through mistakes. Of course Dave makes plenty of his own.....

@KirkIsMyHinrich Agree on Moss. I didn't see that he had any open looks. They refused to double Doke and guarded our guys on the perimeter. Mistake. I would have doubled Doke and forced him to kick it out.

@HighEliteMajor Agree. Have to foul then. Especially with an entire team of 3 pt shooters.

Doke...that could cost us the game!

3 pt lead and the ball with 47 secs...have to win!

I think he should have fouled.

And Doke may need to come out before they start the hack a Doke strategy.

The problem is that they can all shoot the 3 and Doke can't defend out there.

Can we win if we continue to give them open 3s?

Getting a little ahead of myself here, but, given that the league drafts so much on potential, it would not shock me if we only have Tristan for one year. I'd say two years max at this point.

@wissox IMO, the issue was that it is common to dribble out the clock. That's what was going on. Sometimes, there will be a half hearted effort to play defense.....but usually both teams let the game just end. Not a huge deal to me...but it did seem like poor sportsmanship.

@BShark So, my take is we will have an open scholarship and we see potential for development. If that development doesn't merit the PT that the kid wants....he transfers. Up to him. Also, provides competition for Harris at PG.

So, my read is we are taking Jossell as we are anticipating that the roster spot will be there and he staff sees potential for development. As we have seen in the past, if the player's development does not merit the playing time that he wants.....he transfers.

@DCHawker I could see Braun getting more minutes, eventually.

@drgnslayr Doke does seem to play better when he is the only Big on the floor. Without the threat of outside shooting (which hopefully will improve when Moss can play) and two big guys that can't step outside and hit a shot (and/ or pass well) this will likely continue. We need to obviously improve in those areas for Doke/ Dave or Doke/ Silvio to play well together.

@BeddieKU23 I agree. I usually don't like to whine about officiating, but I saw several walks that weren't called.

@BShark Yes...Moss should help. We need another outside threat.

@wissox Yes, but we were our own worst enemy.

I don't think Mac taking that jumper is in the playbook....
