Giving up 60 at this point isn't horrible...although the way they got so many points off turnovers is....but you can't win scoring 44 pts with so little time left.
@BeddieKU23 It's now just embarrassing.
Since that 20-15 lead...we have scored 18 points...…..wow!
I think we got Doke out of there too late...he looked exhausted. To's continue...
What was Moss doing on that inbound dunk by Gillespie? He was out past the 3 pt line with no one around him?
Have to give Drew credit for that.
If they are going to play Doke like that, we have to make them pay...and haven't been able to do it at all.
@BeddieKU23 Yes...Our defense hasn't been bad...they have points off turnovers and some lucky shots. combined with our bad offense = 13 point deficit.
Too many TOs and bad possessions.
KirkIsMyHinrich said:
Honestly Baylor has had a lot of bad offensive possessions that have resulted in points.
Absolutely.
Damn. 9-0 run with 5 slop points by Butler.
@BeddieKU23 Good point.
Glad to have a 5 pt lead, but I feel like we left points out there with dumb TOs...and Baylor has been Cold, man.
Ochai has made two lobs...one bad and one butt ugly.
@Crimsonorblue22 Agree.
We should have had two inside buckets...one by Doke and one by Dave if they had gone up stronger.
@jayballer73 I am thinking this comes down to whether we can shoot the 3 decently vs. how they do?
@jayballer73 Drew obviously has done great things for that program. My feeling on him has been that in the past he has identified under the radar talent, should be given credit for developing it, but has under achieved during the season much of the time.....losing to teams he should have beaten too many times. I think that is changing now and his teams are getting more consistent. We have handled them pretty well...even in Waco. Self's teams have attacked their zone pretty well in the past, I believe. I think he is getting better as a coach. Identifying that this team can play M2M and doing quite well at it is proof of that. IMO.
@jayballer73 Are you worried about all the open 3s? Even last night, ISU had open 3s...they are not a good shooting team but other teams we face will be.
@BeddieKU23 Without looking at any numbers, it seemed that 2012 was the best defensive team in recent memory. The stats may not bear that out, but that team seemed more suffocating than the others. While you can see that this year's team is good defensively....it still seemed, even last night, that ISU had quite a few open threes that they could not hit. I realize they are not a great shooting team, but that still worries me against teams that can shoot.
@Woodrow He had to be hurt. Every time I have seen him play he has been great.
@BShark Agree on the top 4 and bottom 6.
That drive by Silvio was...umm.... not good.
@BShark Good opportunity for PT for those guys though.
On ESPN 2 they showed the HIlton faithful leaving with about 9 mins. left. What a sweet sight.
What did Silvio do? Hook? Out of bounds?
Should we save some 3s for Baylor?
Marcus....one on three and you charge.
20 pt halftime lead........doesn't get much better than that.
@DanR These 5 on the floor aren't cutting it. I see subs coming in.
@Crimsonorblue22 Melvin? What an ass.
A couple of bad possessions there and now only up 3!
What a stupid foul!!
@msanchez MOst of the TOs were not caused by WVU. Unforced.
@KirkIsMyHinrich LOL
Braun has been a big spark! Good move by Self.
@Crimsonorblue22 Do we stop switching?
@KirkIsMyHinrich Yes....Moss missed two wide open 3s. He has to hit those (or at least one)
@FarmerJayhawk Exactly. Down 6 and playing this bad? Things have to improve in the 2nd half (I hope)
Offensive rebounds are killing us!!!!
Their defensive strategy of letting Garret shoot 3s and putting Doke on the line is a good one.
@Woodrow Agree. It does appear to be a lot. But it appears that we are maybe a bad matchup for them. We can compete with them inside and they, in theory, can't exploit our weakness....which is our 3 pt shooting defense. Then of course, there is the Phog factor.
@jayballer73 My opinion is that he should redshirt.....unless someone someone gets injured..then we might need him if available.
@dylans I believe that the NCAA will drop the hammer.
@HighEliteMajor You bring up a valid point with Walton...he is the only one that bothers me.
@Woodrow I agree with you.
These guys are good. Typical WVU team...athletic and physical. But bigger than most of their teams have been. I don't think they have many shooters though.
@HighEliteMajor I think I agree with you on Braun vs. Moss. Certainly he will be a better all around player in the future...might not quite be there yet....what we don't know is if he misses more assignments that Moss based on what the team is trying to do. Difficult to tell.
@BeddieKU23 History suggests he will play before he is 100%. For better or for worse, I don't know.
@jayballer : Yes...I am relieved it was not worse. The way he was holding it, up high, I was worried about some type of fracture.
Agree that is the bigger picture here. If it continues, we will be taken down in the tournament by a hot (or at this point maybe even "warm") 3 pt shooting team.
