Do you folks realize we are on the verge of the S 16 being chalk....except for the #4 seeds occupied by KU and KSU?

@HighEliteMajor Wasn't it the bad losses that got us the lower seed than usual? WV, UT. And getting kind of blown out in some games?
@KirkIsMyHinrich I am not that nervous either. I think because, unlike in past years, we are the underdog. I'll still be bummed if we lose, but I don't think it will practically ruin the rest of the tourney for me.....like it has in the past when we got knocked out earlier than we should have. More upside than downside, I guess.
@BShark I wanted ISU to win to make the league look better. Then I say your shot of Melvin..and I'm glad they lost. Why do you say Prohm is going to Bama?
It feels like we should leading by more as many shots as NE has missed....but you have to like a 12 pt. halftime lead.

Letting them stay in the game by settling for 3s. Need to get Moore out of there. I don't know why we don't keep attacking the basket.

Never seen so many boneheaded plays in the last minute as the Auburn/ NMSU game. First, Harper's foul out with 15 secs. left. Then the NMSU guy not taking the layup to the Auburn guy fouling the 3 pt shooter....Then with the guy only making 1 out of 3....Auburn wins by default.

@jayballer73 I agree. We win. We are bigger and more athletic. If they come out hot and our young guys don't respond...yes, we could be in trouble. But chances are, we win...
@wissox I think a couple of things may be in play. We haven't necessarily fared all that well in KC......the KU crowd is not as loud and effective as rattling the opponent as we see in AFH....could be type of fan (i.e non-rowdy student), acoustics that affect the noise.
Also,....I can imagine that NC and Kentucky fans may have already bought tickets on the secondary market gambling that their chances are pretty good they make it there. Further, those that wait until they see if they make it....are probably pretty willing to pay a high price to go.
Hence,.....I don't think we will have the advantage that some might think on the surface.
@jayballer73 Not a good matchup...but I doubt they have the athletes that Iowa State does. Having a couple of days to work on defending them will hopefully help. And they have to defend against us....
@jayhawkcsg I think Garrett can be effective when he is finishing at the rim...like he was doing before he got hurt. But he HAS to be able to do that or he is definite liability on offense.
It is difficult to have high expectations for this team next week. We start 4 freshmen. It is really asking a lot to expect such a young team....unless the freshmen are going to be in the League next year (see...Duke, Kentucky) to go very far in the tourney...IMO.
I can't fault the effort tonight. But we did not execute at all.
So much for a good start to the 2nd half. The boys don't have it today.
If we can cut it to 5 or so right away..I'll feel alright. If not....we could be in trouble.
I guess the law of averages should help us in the 2nd half...but Shayok hasn't hit anything either...that probably won't continue.

@jayballer73 I hope it continues.. While recognizing that we have to take care of business first...not having to face Tech would be a break. ISU looked good....KSU better look out.
@HighEliteMajor I think to win a NC as a 6th seed you have to have the best player in the country. But that 's just speculation....

So playing devil's advocate here.....
And I am not being a homer..just looking at the facts.
I understand that if your team wins the league...that counts for a lot.
But.....look at Culver's stats....not really high on the list in anything.
I understand that he is a really good player and you always had to account for him.
But ….Dedric led the league in scoring and rebounding.
Normally, that would get you player of the year.
And..we finished third and we only had Devon on the 3rd team......no one else even Honorable Mention.
Doesn't that say a lot about Dedric?
@Woodrow It makes sense though.... they (unfortunately) won the league....although it would be nice to win the B12 tourney....the Big Dance obviously is more important.
Call me crazy, but I don't think Fran is biased against KU.

@BShark You are right. In the scheme off things the B12 tourney doesn't matter a ton....our performance could move us a seed or two...which might, I say might, be important.
However.....this year, more than any, it might be pretty sweet to win it. I don't expect that to happen. But I would not be shocked. Clearly, Tech is the favorite.
@Crimsonorblue22 There was one on TV as well. I thought it was well done.
I think I'll celebrate the undefeated season at AFH with a glass of wine out in the cold on my deck.

@jayballer73 Good point. I saw that too. Wide open in the middle. Didn't even look at the basket. That has been one of the ways we have successfully attacked that Baylor zone in the past...get that open shot in the middle.
@kjayhawks Yes. We didn't take advantage of their misses. That could come back to haunt us in the 2nd half if they get even a little hot from 3.
Not feeling good that Baylor struggled with good looks and we are only up by 3. Those misses tend to even out over the course of a game.

@BeddieKU23 You would think that if we don't get one of the remaining HS bigs then we would be one of the first choices for a grad transfer bigs….if there are any out there. However.....the dang NCAA thing could keep them away as well.

@Texas-Hawk-10 Plus you have the pressure of the NCAA tournament. Younger teams often have a hard time in the tourney..especially against an experienced, lower seeded team. If we are a 4 or a 5....look out as the opponent will be a good team. Lipscomb, etc.
I was feeling good when we cut it to 8....right back to 12
As this game started....I felt like we didn't have much to play for....compared to previous years, that is. yes...seeding is important and this game would help. But it seems like the players feel the same way.
@Crimsonorblue22 I think we get the 2. Based on record vs. the next team in the standings..likely Baylor but mayber ISU.

@BShark I have to admit..when Jones hit that fadeaway in the lane as time expired I was thinking that it just wasn't our day and we were doomed. Things turned around right after that though...fortunately.
Clones getting their butts kicked in Austin.
He made some great passes and I remember one tough drive that he actually finished. Made some 3s....I'm hoping he has turned the corner.
