Ok. Let's send some positive vibes...ohmmmmm....
Come on Braggggggggggg......
Is not at OU is playin well as much as KU is playing so poorly...
Fair score considering how poorly both teams played...
Both teams playing poorly.
This is as bad a half as KU has payed in a long time...
So many turnovers.
Yep, Lucas was pushed...
@Bwag c
No rim protection just missed layups.
Getting to the hoop with ease but not finishing...
Thank you for the photos, it looks like you had a great time; good to see you having some fun after all the hardship you have endured.
I do have Facebook and use it and I also have a twitter account but I really don't use it at all. 👍
Does any one know if there will be a live stream of the Senior ceremony? With UNC-Virginia before, chances are we miss several minutes at the start of the game anyway and as soon as the game ends ESPN cuts to Norwegian curling...:smiley:
I said they helped Duke, I did not say they were miracle workers...there is only so much they can do...and perhaps the check did not clear in time anyway... :smiley:
I know how they work, I have looked in detail at the algorithms and there are things such as the luck factor used by Ken Pomeroy that does not make sense. The issue with some of the computer models is that they are developed by statisticians that look just a the numbers and their knowledge of the game itself is not that good so they don't consider other factors like humans do.
The ESPN BPI was developed with the premise that it would correct the problems of the other computers systems and it ended up being not that much different. that's all.
Arizona is a pretty good team; I would not like to see it in Marrch.
UCLA has started to play defense and they are getting much better at it.
Did you watch the WVU-TCU game? You don't think they determined the outcome of that game? There is no way that should have been a foul.
Are you telling me that refs do not affect games? If that is the case I have some nice waterfront property in Florida I can sell to you at a great price.
Did you watch the KU at WVU game? Worst refereed game I have seen in a long time. WVU was the team pressing and when a team does this two things can happen, either you create a turnover or you foul. KU had very few turnover and considerably more fouls that WVU which is not what logic would dictate.Look at the stats, the refs might not have had one critical call that decided the game but there is no question that the way they called the game early effectively took KU out of that game...you can look at it any way you want but if you read the contemporary post throughout the game and the comments afterwards, there is no question that most if not everybody that participated in that thread felt the same way.
Look at the WVU -TCU game...that last foul call the gave WVU the win was plain BS and even the announcers said that much at the time.
I am sure KSU believes that the refs gave the game in Lawrence to KU by not calling the walk on Svi. Refs affect the game all the time and some do it more than others.
Do you watch Duke games? if you do you can see Coach rat face getting on the refs faces and never gets a T and he get all the favorable calls; Huggy does the same thing. Sometime I wish Coach Self would get louder and draw an early T and get more favorable calls but we all know that is not how he rolls.
Refs are well trained to favor Duke at the right time...
ESPN and the MSM will not allow a tournament without an ACC team as #1` seed...:laughing:
Wisconsin called, they suggest you watch again their final game against Duke and then state the refs don't make a difference.
My question is...how many players stay with one team for 11 or more years? I don't know the answer but I would guess not many. Also, most of the players drafted are 20 or older, only 7 active players in the NBA under 20 and most of those are almost 20. Ever since the age requirement went up and players had to be a9 and remove one year from highs school, the age has gone up. Also. many OAD go and extra year to prep school so they come to college 1 year older.
My point is that age will not be the deciding factor on whether Devonte comes back or leaves.
If you don't think the Big 12 is that good then you are in the minority. Just abut every conference ranking I have seen, including Sagarin and Massey, have the Big 12 as the top conference.
Let's look at one of the more popular rankings, Ken Pomeroy...
- 4 teams in the top 20.
- 5 teams in the top 23 - that is half of the conference in the top 23
- 8 teams in the to 40
- Lowest ranked team is Texas at #75. Oklahoma is #64
The entire conference is ranked in the top 21% of all Division I schools.
Can you find another conference with better numbers?
I could be wrong but wasn't Gonzaga the #4 overall team when the NCAA released its preliminary top 16 teams? If you look at the NCAA RPI, Gonzaga is #11. IMHO, with one more loss, Gonzaga becomes a #2 seed...if it is not that already.
Probably did not want to get Walton started on dug paraphernalia...:grimacing:
The computer systems don't like KU..except for Massey that now has KU as #2.
Mason will turn 23 in April so there is really not that much of a difference. I never understood why age is that important, it is not like the team that drafts him will have him his entire career. So what if he is 23? Likely it means he is more mature and with more experience and many years away from retirement anyway. Yes, I get it that a young player means he was likely a OAD with higher ceiling but do you rather have a young inexperienced player or a slightly older player with more maturity and more ready to contribute? just sayin'...
Here is a look at the conference standings with the non-con record in bold. The top 8 teams in the conference have gone 90-13. Even the 3 bubble teams have gone 34-5 in their non-con games and 31 of their combined 36 loses have come in conference play.
No question that the the conference is the toughest and the intra-conference blood bath appears to back this up. When you see teams like Clemson with its 14-14 and 4-9 conference record as bubble teams, I still think the Big 12 should get 7 teams in.
Safely in the NCAA teams
-
1 Kansas: 14-2 , 26-3 ==>12-1
-
10 West Virginia: 11-5, 23-6 ==> 12-1
-
24 Iowa State: 11-5 , 19-9 ==> 8-4
-
11 Baylor: 10-6, 23-6 ==> 13-0
- Oklahoma State: 9-7 , 20-9 ==> 11-2
Bubble Teams:
- Kansas State: 6-10, 17-12 ==> 11-2
- TCU: 6-10, 17-12 ==> 11-2
- Texas Tech: 5-11, 17-12 ==> 12-1
No chance teams:
- Oklahoma: 4-12, 10-18 ==> 6-6
- Texas: 4-12, 10-19 ==> 6-7
What a surprise 4 ACC teams in the top 8. I don't get why all the love for Virginia, they have 9 effin' loses and tied for 7th in the ACC.
KU wins 85-71....remember I predicted the exact score for the KU - Texas game.
I don't know if it is just me but when I want to watch comedy I tune in to the Comedy channel. When I watch a Saturday prime time featured game on the system that claim to be the top sports channel, I expect to hear competent announcing and commentary and not a freak side show.
Great to hear Coach Dooley is doing well.
I can only speak for myself but I have a problem with Jackson's actions being bigger than already reported. If it had been a serious crime, the investigation would have been a lot faster and charges would have been filed much sooner. The fact that he was charged with a misdemeanor would appear to indicate that there was no evidence available to support charging him with a more serious offense.
Also, what are the chances that someone in Austin, KU fan or not, has information that some of the locals do not have? If there was even a hint that there was more to it, the Star would have been all over it and would have been all over the various forums.
Of course when you kick a car door and a taillight you are doing it in purpose, it is not like a foot has a mind of its own. However, as misguided as this was, it is really not that unusual when it comes to young men and women with raging hormones and affairs of the heart. I used to hear it from my kids when they were that age and I hear it now from my grandson that is only a sophomore in HS.
As far as being arrested, I don't believe Josh was arrested; charges were filed and probably he made an appearance, posted bond and that was the extent of it. Also, If you don't think people get arrested for small offenses you better think again, it happens all the time...I know this from personal experience.
.
Also, if TX is so apathetic about basketball, why fire Rick Barnes? I mean, really why?
That is an excellent question. They traded a known commodity for a flash in the pan and does not seem to be working and now they are stuck with 7 year contract worth $3M per year...OUCH!
I don't think it is even close, OU is in full rebuilt after losing POY Hield and other key players like Spangler. Smart is in his second year of rebuilding and has several highly ranked and talented players. Like @ralster said, put Kruger Coaching Texas and it is top half of the conference. KU has replaced all 5 starters before under Coach Self and finished where....? That's right, top of the conference. Can't really make excuses for Smart, the results speak for themselves.
Baylor and KSU area now on a free fall. Baylor probably now down to a #4 seed and the kitty cats, short of a run to the Big 12 tournament title game, probably headed to the NIT.
...or Sagarin...
With the personnel available, Texas should have finished in the top half of the conference and yet it sits dead last...a gross underachievement that can be directly attributed to coaching. I guess sound basketball coaching was lost in translation.
I bet Allen is thinking the same thing...
Great article, makes you think how far the MU basketball program has fallen since that game and how far the Star has dropped since Posnaski left.
Perhaps the Star blames KU for the departure of Joe Po and its descent into mediocrity and hence its reinvigorated and overt hatred for the KU basketball program.
If Bragg and Coleby continue to improve and play like they have in the last couple of games, KU's perceived weakness at the bigs, while not eliminated it would be greatly abated. Definitely a positive development and that bides well moving forward.
So...I predicted the exact score...did I win anything? Perhaps tickets to the next home game?
I disagree. There is a big drop in talent and production once you get past the top 6or 7 players. Also, there are heavy implication when a drastic change in the lineup affects the outcome of the game. The NCAA would have a serious issue if any program tries to pull a stunt like this. To the best of my recollection no program has ever done anything like this.
KU will play the line up it usually does and if it gets way up it wil rest the starters some. The staff and players are way too competitive to risk giving the game away.. I can't recall, of the top of my head, any team in college ever not playing competitively after clinching the conference title. San Antonio did it once in the NBA and Popocich/teams were fined by the League.
It will stay close in the first half but KU pulls away in the second half, 77-67 good guys.
Here is Coach Self's statement on the issue...
Yes.
