Well so much for that. Time to usher in a new qb
I want to see Cole Ballard start next week.
@kjayhawks Done and done
Jeff Grimes, despite making millions of dollars to call plays, lacks the wherewithal to understand that feeding a running back who is averaging 7 yards a carry is more efficient than throwing with a quarterback who is averaging 4 yards a pass (and an interception every 10 passes). This lack of basic sense cost us one game already. Obviously, he will not get fired because of one bad game. But what if he costs us our next couple matchups? Might he get the can?
I think now would be an appropriate time to ask. Does anybody have any insight into who will be our backup QB next year? Whoever it is could be the key to our season
If anyone else here loves a good novel, Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry is excellent. The tv mini series by the same name is very good and well-acted too. Then the novel Blood Meridian is very powerful though too dark for some people.
As for movies, I really like Unforgiven.
When it comes to shows, Longmire is great once you get into season two. The novels it is based on are also great.
I like to look up the box scores of preseason games to see if any rookies did well but I rarely ever watch the games
Olympics start on Saturday
Everyone but Frank choked in the ELAM ending. Colorado knew it and focused their defense just on stopping him
Mass St is moving on to the 3rd round!
Does anyone know if the game is available on the radio anywhere?
Does anyone know if today's practice game is streaming anywhere?
Does the narrative that Bill refuses to play anyone but KJ at the 4 due to sheer stubborn loyalty just come from last season when there were literally no other options? Or is there inside info I'm missing?
I hate this. But its good to have options. SEC probably doesn't think twice about us without Leipold
I think McDowell likely beats out Passmore for bench minutes unless Self wants to redshirt him.
I'm guessing if Furphy somehow, miraculously, comes back Riley Kugel will conveniently turn out to be academically ineligible.
Mark Mitchell of Duke is from KCK. Do we pursue?
I figured that some of us could use a break from the controversy about a technical foul being called on a technical foul. So here is a reminder of one of the greatest games of KU basketball history even though our fanbase rarely brings it up. Enjoy:
@Texas-Hawk-10 That would not be the sole reason but Timberlake is bad enough to cost us a game that we would have won otherwise
@BeddieKU23 We play down to Yale-caliber opponents.
If Timberlake gets too many minutes we could lose this one. Jamari and Jankovic need go step up
Have the bridges between us and Brent Dearmon been irreparably burned? 🤔
Does anyone know whom we might replace Kotelnicki with if he does go to Penn St?
I probably will never stop watching Kansas basketball. Maybe I won't be as invested as I once was but I will always watch. One thing I will say is that it is a great disappointment knowing that neither Furphy, Elmarko, nor McDowell will be a Jayhawk next year as they will all either declare for the draft or transfer. It used to be fun to watch the freshmen and look forward to their futures with the program but that aspect of college basketball really doesn't exist anymore.
Now it is time for a new question. Who will be next years Jason Bean? As much as I like Jalon as both a player and a person, two years of experience have proven that he is too injury-prone to have a realistic chance of being a full-time starter. With Bean moving on, we will need another good backup who can step in and win games for us assuming that Jalon is injured again next season. Cole Ballard? Will the recruit from Michigan be ready as a true freshman next season? Or do we find someone in the portal?
Didn't Jalon have another setback? I don't think its likely that he comes back this season, let alone this week.
On a somewhat related note, who is the QB of our future after Jalon leaves and does he suffer from injury issues?
I mean, I don't think the NCAA can play God and change the past. Sure they can force us to censor the records but we know what happened in 2018. UK is now number 1 all time according to the censored records and we are number 1 according to what actually happened. Sure, I'm a little upset we aren't number 1 in both anymore but I'd rather have the latter than the former.
Read a GEM of a comment on Rupp Rafters:
"If this would have been UK, we would have been buried.
DEAD. AND. GONE."
Yeah, UK and coach Cal are completely clean. The NCAA definitely hasn't been turning a blind eye to them or anything.
@jayballer67 Yes
I'm guessing KU was only favored by 2 initially because of the possibility that Daniels might be out
I think the problem is that it is ESPN+
Does anyone have any updates on his health? It seems like the staff is keeping mum about it. Should we expect him to play against UCF?
@FarmerJayhawk Those who believe strongly enough in the philosophical views of Fyodor Dostoyevsky could be said to "like adversity." However, this all comes down to which specific emotions that one registers qualify as "liking" something.
He exited the game with an injury. This is a HUGE and potentially devastating development and it is surprising that nobody is talking about it. Has anyone heard anything?
I'll give the second half a B+. Hopefully Daniels and Grimm are okay.
I would give that first half an F. It barely escapes F- territory because we are still winning and we were playing with a backup QB. Overall a terrible performance, stuffed on 4th and 1 by an FCS team, terrible third and fourth down defense, and the one positive (tackles for loss) will almost surely go away once FBS play starts. Hoping for a better second half and rest of season, but its looking like we are back to being a 1-11 or 2-10 caliber team as of now.
Most likely it means Flory thinks he can come in and take the starting job from Dickinson. Luckily for him, Dickinson is unlikely to be around to show him otherwise
For those of you who don't have espn+ you can listen to the game on Sports Radio 810
Is there a way to listen on the radio? ESPN+ is as reliable as ever (ie not at all)
My guess is a 4-8 season. We will be competitive in most games but we got a really tough Big 12 draw (no Houston, no WVU, no TCU) and I think our 3rd down conversion rate will drop from last year.
Back in the old days this would have been a good class to grab some 4-year program guys that we can develop patiently. Unfortunately there is no point in doing so anymore as they will transfer away
@FarmerJayhawk Nice. I was also at the WVU game where we were down 14 with under 3. Is that the one you menat?
@wissox Yes it was!
vs OU in 2016
The following my my guess of the rotation and minutes:
1) Harris (32 mpg) / Morris (8)
2) Morris (18 mpg) / Elmarko (11) / Timberlake (11)
3) McCullar (23 mpg) / Timberlake (15) / Elmarko (2)
4) KJ Adams (22 mpg) / Marcus Adams (9) / McCullar (9)
5) Dickinson (32 mpg) / KJ Adams (8)
In games where we have foul trouble we will see Braun, McDowell, or Johnson get minutes as well.
Should be back to back! Well deserved, congrats Joel!
I suppose if we can only use players we know will be on the roster next year my guess at the starting lineup would be Harris, Elmarko Jackson, Nick Timberlake, KJ Adams, and Ernest Udeh. However, with Udeh's foul problems he will only be on the floor 10 minutes a game, meaning a more common lineup will be Harris, Jackson, Timberlake, Marcus Adams, and KJ Adams. Of course, this lineup WILL change with the portal so the posts now are meaningless outside of having fun shooting the breeze. Maybe we won't get our most desired targets, but we will get a couple players who will compete for starting roles.
I know this is probably stupid and is definitely a knee-jerk reaction to 1 game, but a little part of me wants Yesufu to start taking Remy's minutes. I know Remy is probably the better player but it seems like we need Yesufu's defense more than we need Remy's offense. Thoughts? Am I as crazy as I feel?
@BShark I see. Then wouldn't that put us at 13 scholarships even if Ochai, Jalen, and Remy all pull out of the draft?
