@jaybate-1.0 I'm waiting for your next thread about the Badball 6. He shortened that game last night by grinding it out. He beat an 8 player stack of 5 stars with 6 players.
Why do all of you suddenly feel we have Grimes now?
@cragarhawk What we saw last night was not what we will see at the end of the year. I'm not ready to draw conclusions yet, but I certainly understand the frustration. We looked terrible overall. Still, I think we will improve..maybe vastly improve when all the dust settles.
@drgnslayr i thought Devonte played a pretty good game on the defensive end. He certainly was hedging the ball better than what he did last year. I just think he tried too hard on the offensive end - he will be better in the future, imo.
@jaybate-1.0 If we had a full compliment of players, then the genius of 6 man badball wouldn't have been born. If Self hadn't already been elected to the Hall of Fame, he would've been elected last night. Just flat outcoached the Squid.
Jaybate has to be in heaven over the reemergence of badball. Except it's 6 man badball. It's a little like 8 man football, except the other side gets to play with 11 players.
Bill's teams don't begin to sort it out until conference most years. Lots of things to work on. I thought Newman was atrocious most of the game...same with Devonte. Yet we won the game. A++++ effort for going to war against a deep 5 star laden team with only 6 bodies ( Lightfoot only got a few minutes ).
@BShark 3rd straight time. I love it.
@RockkChalkk I think you're right about us slowing down the pace of the game. We looked alot slower than normal.
That was ugly. We have a long way to go.
Wow....unbelievable.
Trip boy gets the academy award for flops on that one...
Hey, where did my tag line go, Aproxx?
@BShark We know what Tonto thinks, what about the Lone Ranger?
@ajvan I don't see how we can play small ball with Silvio, the Lawson brothers, and Maccormack. If Grimes doesn't think he can beat out Garrett, do we really have to have him?
@JayHawkFanToo Crummy day @ work, so I'm amusing myself again.
@mayjay Tell me how does the light shine in the Halls of Shambala?
@DoubleDD Where have you been????
@kjayhawks Medcalf doesn't bother me. He probably has never been to AFH. It's one of those cases where you don't know until you know. And he doesn't know.
Hey Rooster, how do you think we're going to do against kentucky?
Off topic a bit, but our good friend Jesse Newell was featured in Parrish's weekly poll attacks :
I'll start with Jesse Newell -- The Kansas City Star reporter who covers KU. He has West Virginia ranked 14th and Texas A&M ranked 16th on his ballot, which would've been reasonable at any point before a shorthanded Texas A&M team beat West Virginia 88-65 on a neutral court last Friday. But now it's completely unreasonable. Because a shorthanded Texas A&M team beat West Virginia 88-65 on a neutral court last Friday. And why anybody would rank Texas A&M behind West Virginia after that is impossible to understand.
Oops...
@mayjay [
You shouldn't give me openings to do this:

@BShark They were ecstatic over beating the Catamounts. To hear the Squid talk about it, you'd think they beat UCLA during the Wooden era.
@BigBad I'm thinking the same thing. Malik's redemption.
@BeddieKU23 My 'Tucky buddy says they want to run- that they can only score in transition because they're having trouble scoring in the half court. I watched part of the Tucky/Catamount game, and thought they looked much better than their UVU game. Tucky had such an athletic advantage over Vermont it was ridiculous, but Vt almost pulled it off due to their experience. I think we beat them by at least 15.
@Fightsongwriter And as he started to go, she said Billy keep your head lowwwww...
@JayHawkFanToo Cal will be crying like a little baby.
@REHawk I know I'll get booed for this, but I have always thought Devonte was a better point guard than Frank. I didn't say better scorer ...I didn't say better offense creator, or better shooter. But, as a point guard, my money is on Devonte. Before the senior deferment, Devonte was every bit as good as Frank, if not better, imo. I think Devonte is a better passer, and a better distributor as a point guard. He will not match Frank's scoring numbers, but he will blow him away on assists, which, imo, is more important as a point guard.
@Fightsongwriter Nice Preston/Beatles reference. Here, here...
@HawkChamp My prediction record over the past 14 years is 82.7%. I haven't felt like we were going to lose a game since Ted Owens was coach.
@HawkChamp Let them run that zone on us - we'll throttle them.
I think we'll win every game we play.
94- 77. Ku wins.
@Crimsonorblue22 He might be my favorite player of all time.
@HighEliteMajor Music to my ears about Graham. I think he is better for the team than Frank. i know practically no one agrees with me on that, but the way the ball moved last night spoke volumes. DG did a brilliant job of setting up his teammates, and the tone he set on defense with the 2 early steals charged up the whole team.
@JayHawkFanToo Here, here...you were on the Garrett train right along with Bshark and me.
@BShark He probably went w Svi because of the experience factor. I think Garrett has played himself into full time rotation minutes right away. I think you and I were on his boat more than anyone. What I loved was 29 minutes with 1 turnover, with a double double. 10 boards. Geez Louise. People might disagree, but I think he's the back up point guard. There isn't much that he can't do, and he plays with supreme poise.
“For us, it would’ve been better had they played bigger because the game would’ve been a little slower,” said TSU coach Dana Ford. “We practiced the first four minutes of the game twice yesterday. But there was just not a lot that we could do. We paid for the Missouri game (on pay-per-view) and we even paid for the overseas exhibition they did (in Italy). We wasted a lot of money.”
I saw lightening speed, crisp passing, drives to the basket, utilizing the 3 pointer to attack- simply a magnificent display of offense. We are simply a better team when we play 4 guards. Heck, we even had 5 guards on the floor for awhile ( hattrick to Jaybate for that prediction ). With our lack of front line depth, we have to conserve the bigs. The only downside was the 20 turnovers ...I hope we can cut that in half, at least.
Defensively, I thought we played very well. The tone was set early by Devonte with 2 consecutive steals early in the game that helped us bury them early. I would've liked to seen Doke get more rebounds than 6 - maybe Garrett can help him with that ( 10 boards).

Bummer about Preston not playing. He sure needs the minutes, and the actual game experience.
-
I'm not sure what to think about Newman not starting. If it was only about defense, how could you start Svi? It turned out ok, but if we're going to get Garrett in the lineup, I would think a DG/Newman/Garrett/Vick/Doke lineup would be my preference. I love what Svi did in the game - he played worlds better than in the exhibition games. Still, the upside is with Newman. You get that guy going, and he can score 30 points. The quick hook on the bad pass to Doke was pretty hard core. His toughening box for Newman is pretty severe. I'm hoping Newman comes out with a chip on his shoulder, ready to play against 'Tucky. I would love for him to get on one of his streaks like he did in Italy.

What an amazing start to a season. We didn't miss a shot until 8:23 left in the first half. I think we're going to hand the Squid his arse on Tuesday. RCJHGKU.
@BShark I asked my IU buddy if they had crean on speed dial...Stubby's lil brother is not getting off to a very good start at IU..
Indiana getting beat by Indiana St 72-45....omg...
@JayhawkerRedLegs I should probably forgive EJ, and I'm sure I will at some point. Not there yet.
On the beach on the west side of Florida at sunset.
@JayhawkerRedLegs EJ ????? No. Maybe if you're talking about dribbling the bb. Anything else would be a huge advantage for Malik.
Hey, if they are only going to suspend Sexton 1 game for taking payola, let's buy the top players, and schedule a cupcake our first game. We can offer stupid gimme online classes just like UNCheat as well. THIS chaps my arse:

Dirty, rotten corrupt NCAA.
Put your money where your mouth is, California. If one of your teams makes the NCAA tournament, then demand the team forfeit the game if they are scheduled against a team from a state you deem as haters.
Almost every game we play is available on live sports streams on the internet. Make sure you have an ad blocker if you use it.
@Red.Rooster God Bless You, and your family.
Hey Rooster...thanks for the upvotes! Hope all is well...
