The Ft Wayne Mastodons beat the Candy stripers. This was the biggest moment for the Mastodons since the extinction event.

UT TAKING A BEATING THIS WEEK • Nov 22, 2016 10:16 PM

Bevo might need to relocate. UT is losing their 2nd straight right now- Tad Boyle's Buffs are taking them to the woodshed right now, after a 17 point loss to Northwestern yesterday. And after an asswhipping by KU football on Saturday.

Why aren't we talking about Josh Jackson • Nov 22, 2016 04:08 PM

@justanotherfan He's a big time player. He is the OAD that will set the bar for every future OAD from here on out. He is just amazing.

Stolen from a post:

Kansas football beat Texas who beat Baylor who beat Okie St who beat your Pitt team who beat Penn St who beat Ohio St.

Clearly the Jayhawks should be in the playoff

@Texas-Hawk-10 I didn't mean in the present- it was a reference to what they had done in the past.

@drgnslayr Landen is an enigma right now- he didn't have 3 players swarming him last year because Perry was drawing them out of the post. This year, they just wait for the entry pass, and surround him. I'd like to see more movement from the guys that don't have the ball when LL gets that entry pass...maybe come up right behind him, LL could flip them the ball, and use LL as a screen. Of course, you're more well versed on the x and o standpoint than I'll ever be. Maybe LL is so focused on trying to become a scorer, he is neglecting to make that pass to the open man. With the foot injury, when he gets the ball, it's taking forever and a day to go up with the ball ...he's slower than he's ever been, imo. My opinion is....he will be just fine. Maybe his job is to run interference so Bragg can nab 11 boards.

Doke is officially in the toughening box. Blew an assignment...grabbed some bench. Will Coach give the Doke the minutes necessary to develop? I think the answer is absolutely, he will. but Doke has to learn how to play without fouling, or its a moot point. JJ has to learn to not foul as well, but they're letting him play through his mistakes. In the future, and for our future, we have to have Doke in there for at least 15 minutes every game, imo. LL plays 25 avg a game normally, right? So, its not like we're taking any time away from Lando. Put him back in, Coach. Let him learn while he's playing. 7 minutes is no bueno.

@wissox The UT boosters would've donned a KU uni, and helped us win if it were possible. Anything to get to say..."Sorry, Charlie". It's the arrogant UT fanbase at it again. UT is a legend in their own minds....trying to get Saban to take over their program...give me a break....lol. Not saying that Charlie doesn't deserve to get canned, because he certainly does. But the Teasippers freaking out is always a sight to behold. Beyond Darrell Royal and Mack Brown's tenures, have they ever done a damn thing otherwise?

Speaking of having your job on the line, how does Texas tech go into Clone land, and come out losing 66-10? Kingsbury is now 4-7, and has some 'splaining to do, Lucy.

@stoptheflop Vick got 32 minutes Friday.

Ten Random thoughts on Siena • Nov 19, 2016 04:38 PM

@wissox

1- A mini-van, actually.

2-I've been concerned with our 3 point defense for 13 years...lol. If you're going to give something up, you want it to beyond the perimeter is the theory. It drives me crazy how we allow 3 point shooters to go crazy on us. The 3 point shooting will correct itself- last year we hit everything in sight the first half of the year from 3, and then tailed off the 2nd half. We also had 10 additional games preseason, and were much further along as a team at this point last year.

  1. I hope he does.

  2. RCJHGKU.

  3. Agreed. No way we lose to IU if the designer is on the court. But he's not, and we have to adjust. CB HAS to step up his defense in order for us to cut down the nets, imo. I think he'll get there, and if does, we repeat our victory over Dook for all the marbles.

  4. Lando is frustrated, which is a good place to be your senior year. It means he's motivated, and won't stop until he gets back to where he was at last year. He will be fine.

  5. He is a scintillating player, imo. Love watching him operate...just wait until he gets locked and loaded from the 3.....BG who?

  6. I think he is scratching the surface, but he is so immature, and his brain is getting in the way of being more effective. The maudlin reactions to the foul calls simply makes the refs more likely to call you for another one, imo. The ball slapping was almost inexcusable...c'mon, man...don't look bush league...act like you've been there before. Wayne and Perry were the most stoic guys to ever play for us, and they could've flipped out many times, but their restraint exuded class, imo. Ok, no one flip out on me because I called out our superstar.

  7. I think Bragg is a 10 ppg guy this year, and I think Lando will eventually average 10. What I want to see are some putbacks. If Kudoka can ever learn to play without fouling, it's pretty much a done deal when he gets the ball in low.

10.Spectacular wealth of riches. Devonte hasn't even gotten started yet. JJ is going to become more and more dominant as he relaxes ( and stays out of foul trouble), and Frank is the best player in the country.

LaGerald Vick: The New Mr. Elmers • Nov 18, 2016 04:58 PM

Good thread. I think Vick will be our mvp in several games this year. He's still playing with a deer in the headlights on offense somewhat, which is making him miss from 3. Once he settles in, he's going to be a true force on both ends.

@Bosthawk OMG...LMAO....that is classic....brilliant, even....

Self's Strategy for Beating Duke • Nov 16, 2016 05:59 PM

@Fightsongwriter He put up excellent numbers in 16 minutes.

Self's Strategy for Beating Duke • Nov 16, 2016 01:48 PM

We beat Dook, the number 1 team in the country. We shot horribly from the 3, and couldn't hit a free throw to save our lives. But we rebounded the ball, and played good defense. Tidbits:

  • LL is injured. Hurt. Give him the Siena game off..let him heal up.

  • Devonte is not 100%. Rehydration takes some time. He was used as a decoy the last 5 minutes of the game.

  • We saw flashes of the JJ show, and I have to say...it's quite a show. I think we have a beast on our hands.

  • Doke is going to make quite an impact on this team down the road this year. The passion he plays with is infectious. 12 boards...nice.

  • Carlton is making a comeback...love the jumper he nailed...love seeing him playing the 5 ( I thot he played well with the small lineup),

The game bodes very well for our future. 15 games from now, we'll look to this game as a launching pad.

HIDE YO KIDZ! KU DUKE LIVE CHAT • Nov 16, 2016 12:42 PM

@truehawk93**** “Super proud of him,” junior Devonte’ Graham said of Jackson. “He was frustrated all night with fouls that were called on him, but he came in and sparked us with I don’t know how many points in a row. He did a great job tonight.”

Added KU coach Bill Self: “I thought Josh was great. He was by far the best player in the game there to start the second half.”****

@BeddieKU23 I think you covered it well. We looked much better as a team this game, imo. The defense was much better, and it helped us weather poor perimeter and free throw shooting. We got a rebound or two this game, which is progress over last game. JJ was electric at times, along with Doke, which bode well for future development. I feel like the team is 50% finished product, which means it will have a quantum leap at some point this year.

@jaybate-1.0 Injury update

Senior forward Landen Lucas, who battled a sore foot in Hawaii and junior guard Devonte' Graham, who continued to have issues with cramping, both appeared to be in good shape over the weekend, Self said.

“Landen practiced some," Self said. "He was limited, but he practiced. And he was limited by design. Regardless of how he (felt), he was gonna be limited.”

As for Graham, Self said team doctors and nutritionists continued to try to find a quick fix for the cramp issues that have plagued him so far this season.

“Devonte’ said he felt good," Self said. "Whether or not it affected him or not, he said from about the 15-minute mark of the second half (vs. Indiana) he started the beginning stages of the cramping and stuff like that. I’m not sure he was totally himself over there. He struggled with that and we’ve got medical experts and people like that working with him now and hopefully there’ll be some things that can be done that’ll actually make him feel better the longer he’s doing those things.”

Self said Graham began taking steps to improve his leg cramps the day before KU played in Hawaii but added, "I’m not sure it had a total chance to take effect. I think he’ll be fine.”

Answered Questions After IU • Nov 14, 2016 12:47 PM

Are we men, or are we Snowflakes? Are we going to come out and kick Dook's ass, or are we going to lay around caterwauling in the fetal position, and let those pansies win? Our redemption is near: beat DOOK!

Answered Questions After IU • Nov 13, 2016 02:35 PM

I was really surprised we struggled so much. Devonte and LL both had subpar games. Our rebounding was terrible ...worst i've ever seen from a Self team. We are far behind where i felt we'd be in every possible way, shape, and form. That said, there's going to be a switch that is going to go off at some time in the future. And this team will be transformed - don't know if it takes the next game, maybe it takes 20 games ... but this will be a great team. Just don't know when.

Answered Questions After IU • Nov 12, 2016 12:01 PM

Never seen a Coach Self team get beat so badly on the boards. I worry this becomes the Frank show. The Frank show is great, but it only stars one person...Frank.
